Beat my Tracer 1215BN easily
I've been running a Tracer 1215BN with Renogy panels for a decade now. The charge controller has never worked to my satisfaction. It would always start out with a good performance but several minutes later it would sweep to find the best power point and get stuck and hold the panels at about 15 volts and half the amperage it could be getting out of the panels. If I shut the panels down and started over again it would trace to about 36 volts and good amperage but it would again die down and cut the amps by 2. One day in good sun with poor charging I had it. Started looking for a new charge controller and most of the videos I saw had a Victron in the race and for the most part they always took one of the better positions of the reviews. This 75/10 was inexpensive so I figured what the heck. One of the things I really don't like is no readout. But then again the Tracer didn't have one and I had to get that separately. But the Victron has the app. Worst part is it's bluetooth and the range is limited. But has a good display and the best part is the 30 days of history it holds. They really need to figure out a way to transfer that out in a file (Trends) or at the least have it held in memory when it isn't in range of the bluetooth. The controller is pretty simple to set up. I had to learn a few terms that the Tracer 1215BN didn't use like "Tail Current" and "Re-bulk voltage offset". But I think I've figured it out for my 125Ah AGM battery. The controller finds the power point pretty quick most of the time and in a steady sun it will search the curves to make sure it's using the best power point every 10 minutes. When in absorption the Adaptive Absorption seems to take it out of absorption mode pretty quick and go into float mode. Not sure if 4 amps in float mode is what should happen, but that's what it does. I guess it's making sure the battery isn't over charged. I know if I switch over to a timed absorption I can make it follow the Tail Current setting that I put in there but I'm not sure if I want to do that or not.The controller works well and if I decide to do a system elsewhere I'll go with the Victron.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victron 75-10. Excellent!
Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2022
I am going to mount this Victron 75/10 Solar Charge Controller on the firewall of my boat. I have a 50 watt solar panel I will be using to keep my battery topped off while in storage.

The app was easy to download and after 2 minutes it was done updating itself. The charge controller only took a few minutes to install. In my testing of this solar charge controller over the last two weeks, it has worked better then expected. I am very happy with it and will only be buying Victron in the future.

I am using the "streetlight" function and the "load" connection to run a 10 watt led light bulb while the boat is in storage. I keep the boat on the side of my house and there is no light there. Now, using the boat's battery, the light comes on at night and goes off at sunrise. It only drains the battery a little during the night. Then, the next day, the solar panel charges the battery up to full and maintains it in float mode perfectly.

By the way, I'm using the QILIPSU Hinged Cover Junction Box, - 150 x 150 x 90mm/5.9" x 5.9" x 3.5"(L*W*H) size box. The box seems like it was custom built to fit my Victron 75/10 Solar Charge Controller. It is watertight, made of thick plastic and has stainless steel clasps. Price was very good for the quality.
