The app was easy to download and after 2 minutes it was done updating itself. The charge controller only took a few minutes to install. In my testing of this solar charge controller over the last two weeks, it has worked better then expected. I am very happy with it and will only be buying Victron in the future.
I am using the "streetlight" function and the "load" connection to run a 10 watt led light bulb while the boat is in storage. I keep the boat on the side of my house and there is no light there. Now, using the boat's battery, the light comes on at night and goes off at sunrise. It only drains the battery a little during the night. Then, the next day, the solar panel charges the battery up to full and maintains it in float mode perfectly.
By the way, I'm using the QILIPSU Hinged Cover Junction Box, - 150 x 150 x 90mm/5.9" x 5.9" x 3.5"(L*W*H) size box. The box seems like it was custom built to fit my Victron 75/10 Solar Charge Controller. It is watertight, made of thick plastic and has stainless steel clasps. Price was very good for the quality.

There are a couple of features I wish it had. One is more pre-programmed battery types. They offer a few basic battery types and a custom program of gazillions of charging parameters for experts. I'm an electrical engineer and could get out the data sheet for my specific battery and program all the parameters, but what a hassle, and what if I make a mistake? It would be nice to have a few more standard lead-acid battery types in the menu.
The unit has a streetlight function for turning on a light at night, but I want a general purpose timer that turns on the load in the day. That would be a small amount of software for Victron to add to the unit and the application. I want our birdbath to run only during the day. I could have used a smaller solar panel and smaller battery if this unit had a timer feature.
This unit keeps a history of solar power generated and load power consumed that goes back at least a few weeks. I haven't looked to see how far back it goes, but it's interesting and useful to see how the panels are doing, or if the load is drawing unexpected power. It was also useful to see if my calculations were correct.
One of the things I really don't like is no readout. But then again the Tracer didn't have one and I had to get that separately. But the Victron has the app. Worst part is it's bluetooth and the range is limited. But has a good display and the best part is the 30 days of history it holds. They really need to figure out a way to transfer that out in a file (Trends) or at the least have it held in memory when it isn't in range of the bluetooth.
The controller is pretty simple to set up. I had to learn a few terms that the Tracer 1215BN didn't use like "Tail Current" and "Re-bulk voltage offset". But I think I've figured it out for my 125Ah AGM battery.
The controller finds the power point pretty quick most of the time and in a steady sun it will search the curves to make sure it's using the best power point every 10 minutes. When in absorption the Adaptive Absorption seems to take it out of absorption mode pretty quick and go into float mode. Not sure if 4 amps in float mode is what should happen, but that's what it does. I guess it's making sure the battery isn't over charged. I know if I switch over to a timed absorption I can make it follow the Tail Current setting that I put in there but I'm not sure if I want to do that or not.
The controller works well and if I decide to do a system elsewhere I'll go with the Victron.

First off, let's talk about performance. The MPPT algorithm in this controller works wonders in maximizing the power output from my solar panels, even in less-than-ideal conditions. I've noticed a significant increase in energy harvest since switching to this controller, which has translated into savings on my energy bills.
One of the standout features for me is the Bluetooth connectivity. Being able to monitor and adjust settings right from my smartphone using the VictronConnect app is incredibly convenient. Whether I'm at home or away, I can easily keep tabs on my system's performance and make any necessary adjustments on the fly. It's truly a game-changer in terms of ease of use and peace of mind.
I also appreciate the controller's versatility. With support for both 12V and 24V systems and a wide input voltage range, it's compatible with a variety of solar panel configurations, giving me flexibility in designing my setup. Plus, the temperature compensation feature ensures optimal charging performance, which is essential for prolonging the lifespan of my batteries.
In terms of build quality, the Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT controller feels solid and durable. It's clear that this is a product designed to withstand the rigors of outdoor use, which is essential for me as I live in an area with harsh weather conditions.
While the price may be a bit higher compared to some other options on the market, I firmly believe that the performance, reliability, and convenience offered by this charge controller more than justify the investment. It's a top-tier product that delivers on its promises, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to take their solar setup to the next level.
In summary, if you're serious about optimizing your solar power system for maximum efficiency and convenience, look no further than the Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 75V 10A Solar Charge Controller. It's been a game-changer for me, and I'm confident it will be for you too!
