Thrustmaster USB Flightstick - The only entry-level joystick with a point of view button!
Amazon.com
Sculpted to comfortably conform to the natural grip of the hand and featuring three action buttons, one trigger and a throttle, the Thrustmaster USB Joystick is an attractive and highly functional yet comparatively inexpensive control device for PC gaming. Whether you're flying a midnight bombing run over a global hot spot, blazing your way through the dark recesses of outer space or battling bumper to bumper at Indianapolis, the Thrustmaster USB Joystick has you covered, for less than half the price of an average computer game.
Though priced on par with typical entry-level sticks, Thrustmaster's most affordable joystick features a surprising number of desirable amenities. Pilots in particular will enjoy the unit's thumb-triggered 8-way toggle switch "hat", ideal for accessing alternate viewpoints in and around an aircraft. Flyers and drivers alike will love the ergonomic molded grip, convenient palm rest, and multiple button/trigger configuration. The device does not offer tactile force feedback sensations or wireless operation, though it does sport a base-mounted throttle for precise analog control of aircraft speed.
The Thrustmaster USB Joystick is compatible with all Windows-based games and all four of the most recent versions of the Windows operating system (Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP). Thrustmaster backs the unit with a two-year warranty.

For the simulation racers that are looking for a cheap handbrake alternative, you got to try this out. Fanatecs handbrake costs 140 dollars and some others go in the 200 range. If you are just a weekend racer like me then this does perfectly fine for my needs.
Drifting in Assetto Corsa and playing Dirt Rally has completely changed. Both games recognized the joystick as an analog input so the handbrake works just like a real handbrake instead of just an on/off button on the steering wheel. I am in love with this thing! I haven't seen a review that talked about using this as a handbrake so if you were skeptical like me, just buy it already!!

Update 1/17/18- I have had it for a while and my comments above are still accurate, though, I would like to add one more thing. It is something that I have noticed that I don't really like. That is the placement of the throttle control. it is on the left-hand side, so when you are playing your left hand is on the throttle and your right is on the joystick. This wouldn't be an issue except in most airplanes that I fly the throttle is on the right.
But, for less than $25 you really can't go wrong.
When I first received the joystick, I was very happy with the quality at the price -- it's a comfortable stick (righties only), with a sufficiently sticky base that it doesn't move around on me. Within a few weeks of light to moderate use, there's already significant play in the stick (freely jiggling a couple of degrees about neutral without providing any input), which makes fine control a bit of a challenge, though overall calibration and functionality remain fine. It's adequate for my purposes (playing 20-year-old space sims), but even I would like to upgrade eventually. Still, the basics are solid enough that I'm not in any hurry to drop the big $ that will require.
Overall I think this is likely an acceptable first joystick, or a joystick for someone who isn't sure whether they'll use a joystick often enough to justify spending much money...but I think almost anyone giving it significant use will want to upgrade before long. The build quality is just fine for such an inexpensive joystick, but it seems you get what you pay for in that regard.
Don't make the same mistake I did. If you're looking for a basic joystick that also includes a twist function for yaw, this does not have it.

Anyway, pleasantly surprised. Took me a while to get it to work with MSFS but this is more down to MSFS I would say. Firstly, it doesn't recognise this joystick specifically and just shows up as "USB Game Controller" however you can still map functions to the joystick. Next issue was I had mapped Ailerons & Elevator left, right, up, down to the joystick (seemed sensible to do it this way) and no matter how sensitive I was with the joystick my plane would not react and then suddenly react violently and ultimately crash within seconds. Playing about with the sensitivity settings made no difference. Finally figured out I need to map to the Ailerons Axis and Elevator Axis instead! This appears to have caught out quite a few people in the MSFS community and I wonder how many joysticks have been returned because of this. Once I got past this problem then the joystick works like a dream. You can also further adjust the sensitivity within the software itself.
I have also been able to map the drone camera functions, pause key and brakes to the buttons as well as throttle to slider control to keep keyboard input to a minimum.
Finally, like the look, feel and size of the joystick. It's all black except for middle button (a touch of yellow) so matches my black keyboard, mouse, monitors. It doesn't come with any suction pads or means of fixing it to the table so I'm not sure how well this would work with more arcade like games. In the simulator I am only applying gentle movements to the stick.
I've read reviews of longevity issues so will update if I encounter these. At the moment very pleased with the purchase. PS I appreciate this review is more how this joystick works with MSFS rather than the joystick itself but giving the popularity of the game right now I'm guessing I'm not the only one who considered buying the joystick for this reason
Nice weight to it, throttle works great.
CONS
You cannot twist the joystick left or right/spin (Awe?) so keep that in mind, I mapped it to the view button.
Mine makes a weird sound if I maneuver the joystick in a complete circle. Not a huge issue as it doesn't impact performance.
