Product Description
RECAPS' Concept
The original pods are costly for daily use, that’s why we developed RECAPS Lid for Espresso lovers to reuse the original empty pod with your favorite coffee grinds.
With our stickers, you could brew any brand coffee grinds as you like, just pour some grinds into a used pod case and add a sticker.
We have tested thousands of times to make sure our lids work perfectly to produce a nice espresso with rich crema, especially the thickness and the Diameter of the sticker.
Note: This seal is only compatible with VertoLine brewers.
Not Compatible with Dolce Gusto brewers, Tassimo Brewers, Keurig brewers.
Attention 1: How to Empty the used original coffee pod?
- Use a small curved pair of scissors to cut the foil on the Inside rim rather than peeling it off.
- Or use an Exacto knife and just cut along the perf holes in the foil, then removed and rinsed.
Attention 2: How to Use the Lid Properly?
- Please stick the lid carefully on the top of the pod, please do not cover the barcode outside the RIM.
- Maybe you need try sometimes to get a perfect sticker.
- Or you could buy our filling and sticking holder in our store, which is very convenient. Here is the ASIN# B07SMN2C5S for the holder. Just copy this ASIN number directly to Amazon search.
How to make a good Espresso?
Important Tips:
1. Fill with good brand’s ground coffee. (You can use the original coffee pod's grinds and use our lid to brew a cup for testing.)
2. Amount: same as the original or could be less.
3. Make sure the sticker doesn't cover the barcode, or it would not work.
Attention 3: How's the Taste? GRINDS is EVERTHING!
We recommend using medium or fine grinds generally.
Please open a new original Vertuoline pod, studying the grind in the pod. Or you can try some other brands grinds to see the difference.
We have tried the Lavazza and illy ground coffee, we found that the cream it produced is very similar to the original pod.
Attention 4:What is the Lid Look Like After Brewing?
Its usually like this.
Don't worry the damage of the lid after brewing, the damage of the which does not affect the taste of the coffee.
Do not over grind the beans too fine which may come out a diluted Espresso.
Do not super press the coffee grinds like those who work in coffee shops with a commercial half-Manual Coffee Machine, just slightly press.

Be sure to disassemble an original capsule so that you feel the fineness (espresso grind?) and compactness (not too much) of the grind, so that you know what level to grind your replacement and not to over-pack the refills.
I find first-level espresso grind at my grocer is appropriate and French Roast to be compatible with the Intenso blend/roast.
I included a video of this product, so one can see by the color of the coffee that it is perfectly matched to the nespresso pods. I don't normally go through such efforts as to including a video for a review, however this product not only deserves high praise and an accurate review, but it becomes especially important once the dark realities of the nestle company are learned. ( I will not go into detail about nestle it in this review, however suffice it to say that Nestle (R) will not ever again get a dime from me.) As consumers, we vote with our dollar. As we learn new things (for example human rights abuses and child exploitation), we can't simply turn a blind eye. Fortunately, you needn't need to throw away the previously purchased Nespresso virtuo machine- (cause let's face it.. the product is amazing) once you have added nestle to your boycott list. I have been reusing my old nespresso pods for MONTHS over and over and they still hold up great.
HOW TO MAKE THEM WORK TO TASTE PERFECTION:
1. Pick a good coffee. I am a total fan now of Trader Joes Guatemalan Dark Organic and Certified Fair Trade for the machine/pods. I never favor a dark roast like this for a drip machine, however found switching to dark for the Nespresso really works at a great balance with the froth from the machine. It's superb.
2.GRIND is Everything! I had lots of trial and error when learning to what consistency the coffee needs to be. If you still have an old Nespresso pod that is unemptied, look at it while dry to find the perfect grind. Do not over grind the beans too fine as the coffee will come out diluted. Same goes for should you not grind them enough. If you have your own grinder, mess with what works a bit. I set mine in-between espresso and drip (closer to espresso but not full espresso nor super fine/French press).
3. Pack them appropriately. Again, balance is key and trial and error reaches mastery. You want it full and pressed, but not super pressed like you would pack an actual espresso machine.
4. Learn about nestle, the importance of only purchasing fair-trade always, and reducing waste by reusing every instance you can.
5. Buy something fun (and ethical) with all the money you save from not buying from nespresso.
I love my nespresso machine, but if you haven't yet purchased one yet- I recommend looking into other options that aren't nestle. ;) There are some other good ones out there too. My sister has a great one, i'll update which it is once I find the name :)
Thanks for reading and Café Diem! ;) ;)

My machine makes 1.35oz shot, 2.7 double shot, 5oz gran longo, 7.7 coffee, 14oz coffee.
The vertuo barcodes may cause certain variations in preparation outside of the 5 sizes, as mentioned by other reviewers. But I just treat the sizes as equal products.
S - single espresso, D - double espresso, G gran longo,C - coffee, T - 14oz coffee.
Also...espresso single shots can just fit about 5 grams, doubles and gran longos 10, the coffee capsules will hold only about 12 because of the larger grind required.
The recaps brand seems to be the way to go. I see no reason to try any other methods. These work great.
I dont wash my capsules. I just take 6-8 at a time and submerge in boiling water. There is no oily residue after that. Let them dry.
This is absolutely easy as pie. 10cent recap plus 10-20 cents of freshly ground coffee of choice. Delicious. And making ten at a time its convenient, in my opinion. Hopefully the recaps will get even cheaper as well. 3-5 cents would be great.
