Replacement involved cutting the old plug, stripping off the plastic sheathing an inch or so, stripping the plastic sheath on the wires inside by a quarter inch or so. Pinching the wires with your fingers or putting a magnet on the wires will let you identify which wire goes left/right by the white noise that makes. Unscrew the plug from the shell, put the shell over the wire, solder on the 3 wires, and screw the shell to the plug. All in all, I had the replacement on in about 10 minutes (and I was going slow).
And females on my output jack. And now I can switch out pickguards as easy as 11 screws. No soldering.
