Mackie MC-150
I mainly bought these headphones to use on my Guitar amp. (Fender Mustang LT-50) Naturally, I did hours of research and narrowed it down to two headphone sets. I emailed my sales rep Arron at Sweetwater to get his input. He suggested the Mackie MC-100 over the choice I sent him for comfort. I then looked at this brand and saw the MC-150. Well, that is what I went with.

The box was packaged pretty nice. The packaging was only plastic. Would have been nicer if it were molded cardboard, but I guess it is cheaper for plastic. This set came with a pretty nice carry/storage bag. Inside the bag were the instructions. It is a very soft imitation leather that will hold them nicely when folded. Yes, they do fold which is a nice feature.
The overall construction is what you would expect from a product twice as expensive. The headband padding is just enough to make them very comfortable. They have adjustments on either side for 1 to 8 to fit your head. They fit me very comfortably on 7, but then again, I have a good-sized noggin. The ear cups are a very supple padded leather-like material. (The pads are removable, but not easy to get back on) I also searched the Mackie site to see if the ear pads were something you could buy if they got damaged or worn out, but I was unable to find replacements on their site. Maybe through their warranty or through their support group.

The ear cups do flip so a DJ can utilize them, but only one side flips completely due to the cable that is removable. (Big Plus) The hole of the ear cup itself seems to be a little small but if you move them around just a bit when putting them on your ear will fit in the opening. The inside of the cup has a thin layer of foam to protect the speaker from any dirt. Back to the cable. The cable is a dual end of 3.5mm but only one side will fit the headphone's hole.

This is due to the fact that they come with a screw-on ¼ inch adaptor plug. This cable (10 Foot) can be replaced with any length cable as long as it has the same construction. (3.5mm). These are a very comfortable set of headphones. They do not block out all noise from around you, but they do block about 90%, which to me is good enough for everyday listening.
On to my thoughts on the sound. They are very clear and very balanced in their tonal range. Even at the lowest volume in a very quiet room you could still hear very note clearly. The bass response is not too much as you would think. I was totally pleased as I listened to multiple genres of music. I first plugged them into my laptop. Unbelievably clear. I then hooked them up to my cell phone, once again, unbelievably clear. I then plugged them into a cheap MP3 player and I was even more surprised by the tone and response from these headphones.

I have to credit the response and clarity to the 50mm transducers. I then plugged these into my 500w stereo, hands down these are the best I have heard in a long time. Now onto the real reason, I bought these. I plugged them into my amp and I was blown away by the tone and response. They were more than I ever expected from a $60 set of headphones. They picked up every little tone with such clarity it is going to really help me improve my technique.

Final thoughts; I would highly recommend these to anyone who is looking for a really nice budget set of headphones. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. From every aspect, you can not go wrong with the Mackie MC-150s. Sorry for the length but I wanted to cover as many questions I had while researching.

Mc-150 just buy them. They are that good.

If you are looking for a 100+buck set of phones, buy these and lunch(not a particularly cheap lunch either), go home listen to music and be very happy with this choice.

Great sound

Good for music production. But, the holes in the muffs are slanted and slightly off center by design. Which is fine, but there are no right/left indicators to let you know which side is which; my ears are not slanted, so either way is somewhat uncomfortable. The cord has a sticky rubber coating that easily gets caught up in things; it is not tangle free, and very long (which is good).

Soldi Choice at at Great Price

Dig these; have a few for the studio. The round earpad shape is very comfortable, they fold up tightly, and the cables are extra long.

Excellent deal

These Mackie headphones sound alot like the ATH-M50s my bass player uses. They are not as well built, but they are very comfortable and sound really great.
