The Whirlpool WHES30E 30, 000 grain water softener is ideal for families of 1-4+ people looking for a reliable way to soften their water. Whirlpool water softeners eliminate embarrassing mineral stains, use less detergent in the washing machine for cleaner, brighter clothes and softer feeling fabrics. In addition, Whirlpool water softeners help your water-using appliances last longer by allowing them to run more efficiently. Soft water also helps to keep your hair and skin feeling healthy and soft. Soft water has been known to help alleviate some symptoms for those that suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis. Whirlpool water softeners can help keep your hair safe from mineral buildup and clear water iron, keeping your hair color vibrant for longer periods of time. Whirlpool water softeners employ demand initiated regeneration meaning the system will only regenerate based on your hardness level and how much water you actually use, this results in significant salt and water savings. It will not waste water by regenerating (like competitor models) while you are on vacation and you will not run out of soft water if you use more water than usual. Whirlpool water softeners also come with simple to program electronics and include a low salt indicator light and work on city water or well water. Over time, water softeners also keep your water-using appliances (water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, etc. ) working efficiently, last longer and save energy. All Whirlpool water softeners come standard with a 1-year manufacturer's parts and labor, 3-year limited electronics, and 10-year limited on the tanks. The full parts and labor can be extended to 2 years with the purchase of 3 bottles of Whirlpool WHEWSC water softener cleanser within the first year of ownership (sold separately). Whirlpool Water Softener Cleanser, an acid-based cleaning solution, helps keep your water softener operating at full efficiency by removing these residual minerals from the valve and resin bed where the buildup can occur. Faulty bypass valve out of the box. Warranty service not a priority for company.
Called number that came with literature. They were quick to put in the claim but going on two weeks and the only confirmation I received has been that they prioritize by need. I guess expecting it to be drip free out of box is not a priority. In the mean time I was told to either turn it off or keep it bypassed. Lot of good that does for me. Update: Received new O rings. I thought they were sending a new bypass valve. If I had known they were only sending O rings I could have had it fixed weeks ago. I have hundreds of them in my workshop. Will replace them and see if it fixes the problem. Even with the drip, I am pleased with the softness of my water. UPDATE 2: The O rings were not the fix. There are a couple of gouges in the bypass connection. I am bumping it down to 1 star until they can get me the proper fix. Will update again if possible.

My old Kenmore water softener after 10 years was reducing water pressure in the house. I determined the old Kenmore resin tank was just clogged. I ordered this Whirlpool product to replace the older unit. I discovered they were very similar and it looks like they were both manufactured by the same company. The new unit was delivered for a good price in two days. There was everything I needed in the box to install the new unit. With a few simple steps I set up the new unit prior to installing. I simply pulled out the old one and connected the new one (turn water main off). I primed it up and followed the instructions to add salt and sterilize the new unit. So overall this was an easy project and I saved a ton of money doing it myself. The water quality is great and our water is nice and soft The problem was dealing with the old unit. I removed all the water and salt and took the old one apart even removing the old resin tank. I then called the city and they came out to collect the old one in a big truck a week or so later. So overall this water softener worked out great for me.

While this isn't easy to install, and doesn't come with lines going from the 3/4" house pipe to the 1" tank fitting, it can be done. Take care to not break the plastic pipe- it costs a lot to replace it. But once installed it works well. Easy to program, just took a few weeks to titrate the hardness level, Right now, it is at 2- wonderful. Haven't noticed any noise from the recharge at night. Haven't seen any decrease in the salt in the tank. It just works its magic.

 I love my water softener. Had a sales guy come out and he ran a water test using my tap water (which had been connected to whirlpool softener for 5 days) and every single test my tap water surpassed his fancy filtration system which was much more expensive than this. I hired 2 of my neighbors to install this for me as I didn’t have the space nor piping to complete it. They advised me to use copper pipes as well as keep the salt container in a closed area so that the salt wouldn’t over time ruin any metals. This softener is worth every penny. I did not care for the instruction manual, it did not have the information I needed. I spoke to the support team and they said the salt level needs to remain between a 2-4 for optimal performance. It needs to be cleaned once every 4 months using their cleaner. And after applying water for the first use, you should never add water to the base again. The reservoir remains completely dry and only has salt in it. Every night at 0200 it recharges itself automatically. It’s actually very simple to use. Having soft water is life changing- I’m super grateful for this!

I purchased this product as it matched the plumbing hookup of the same model I am replacing, which lasted over 12 years. It still took a few hours to install and run the leak test, etc., but overall I had no need to call a plumber.

The hardest part of the install was that the clips attaching the in/out pipes to the manifold bypass valve of the old unit were stuck firm - I had to use a reciprocating saw to cut the pvc tubes of manifold to disconnect the old unit. I did learn that I probably should have replaced this unit earlier, as the resin bed doesn't last forever, as once I replaced it the water was softer with less salt use.

The product arrived in good condition and has been working fine a few months now, no worries.

I had initially purchased this product 12 yrs ago at Sams. It worked 💪 well and lasted for 12 years. So once my 1st one died, I went to Amazon to purchase another one. It came after several delays. I had it professionally installed since I'm not very handy with things like that. I noticed that the water in the shower had no slip to it. So I had a plumbing company come out to look at it. I used the same plumbing company that I used to have it installed. They tested the 💧 water and found no soft water coming through the facet. They checked ✔️ the softener and found out that water from the brine wasn't being pulled into the house. The unit wasn't functioning properly, and it wasn't pulling water from the brine into the house. I called Whirlpool ( Amazon warranty is only good for 30 days) since the unit is on three months old. The warranty from Whirlpool is for one year. Whirlpool informed me that they couldn't send anyone to look at the softener since the softener is a self-install product. Please take in mind I had this professional installed and serviced, which had cost me additional money 💰. They informed me that all they could provide are trouble shooting information. And once I identify what isn't working, then they will send a replacement part so that I can fix the softener. This has been a nightmare and I've been cheated of $1500.00 (both the water softener and filtration system) of my hard earned money 💰. I also purchased an extended warranty on Amazon, hopefully I can use this to get it serviced. DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT, WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT SUPPORT ITS REPAIRS. I also learned that this water softener will not support a multi level house. It will only support up to 8 ft in height. My 1st one did provide water to my shower 🚿 upstairs. But now they only support 8 ft, this is what the plumbing company informed me ( two different plumbing companies have looked at this softener)
