Description

This will be the last major version of Cards for the foreseeable future, and will be free until such time as major updates resume. Use and enjoy!

Cards is a recipe app designed for your recipes, your family's long held traditions, all those cards sitting in box files or books. It was created for you to store, share, and modify those beloved recipes. It was designed from the ground up for ease of use and style.

There are many recipe apps out there, but most are designed for other people's recipes, or over crowded with tons of features most of us will never use, and a lack of style on the features you do use. We started with the basics of creating, managing, and sharing recipes, and worked to get those right first.

Cards is iCloud enabled, so that you always have your recipes with you. Someone love your casserole at a pot-luck? Simply send the recipe to from your iPhone to their iPad to them via AirDrop, or email it, message it, tweet it, or post it to your wall! Also compatible on OSX Yosemite with third party sharing services such as Tumblr and Pinterest*.

Cards has a number of recipe management features that do their best to not get in the way of you using them, or looking great, including tags and books. Scaling a recipe is done non destructively, so changing back to the original is as simple as ticking a checkbox.

*Tumblr and Pinterest belong to their respective owners, and no relationship with Dark Chocolate Software is intended or implied.

So much better than paper in a box!

I was a little bit apprehensive about this app because of the reviews. At first it was very easy to add ingredients if you click the box to the right of the measuring cup, very laborious if you click all the individual boxes on the left and I could easily add a picture. But after the third recipe or so it would close me out of things I was trying to add - for each ingredient and each instruction. Once I get everything added, I’ll really like having this instead of all that paper. But for sure some bugs need to be worked out as far as the ease of entering information. I haven’t tried to import a recipe.

Works great!

It's not the prettiest app to look at, but it is perfect for my needs. During quarantine, I've been really building my bartending skills, and my cocktail recipe documents were getting out of hand. Now with this app they are perfectly organized and searchable by ingredient. You can even add custom tags, so I can also search by custom keywords like "sweet", "refreshing", "strong", etc. I also appreciate the serving "scale to" feature. When I am mixing drinks for my whole household, I can scale it to 3 servings and it does the math for me. You can also upload your own photos for each recipe, which is pretty fun and also adds a little beauty to the overall app.

Exactly what I was looking for, but it doesn't work well

Excellent idea, but far too glitchy to be useable. App crashes often, and adding ingredients is a chore.
