I'd read other reviews criticizing the need (with this DeWalt saw) to empty the bar oil from the reservoir after each use--this is a little bit of a negative but when I am actively working on a trimming project, I'll just store the saw in a position that doesn't allow it to leak, and when I store the saw for long periods, I drain the oil (I only use biodegradable oil).
I've had no trouble cutting branches or trees 6 inches in diameter. I've had no trouble with the chain losing tension over what I'd expect after 20-30 minutes of use. Very easy to tighten--don't have to disassemble anything.
My only real complaint is that the saw works so well that I cut so many branches and small trees that it takes much more energy dragging all that cut stuff to the collection pile! (Need a little yard tractor and trailer!)
The battery might be ok for a couple of limbs but runs out of juice pretty quickly. I'm probably going to get a larger battery for this ($$$$). If you're are used to using a gas pole saw you're probably going to find this saw frustrating and lacking power.
The only caveat is that you must tighten up the middle of the pole connection after a while of use as the vibrations loosen it. Easy to use.
