i bought these pads specifically to ride on my class 3 ebike. i can easily hit 30 mph on flat land, and i consistently ride at ~20mph. at those speeds, any falls are going to be very painful without protection. three weeks after i started wearing these pads, they were put to the test.i was traveling at 20 mph on city streets. i didn't see an ankle high parking bumper in front of me, and i hit it at speed. i went right over my handlebars and was, essentially, judo slammed onto asphalt. my elbow (seen above) hit the ground at incredible speed. i rolled when i hit the ground, bashing my knees against the ground. my elbow, and my knees, were completely unscathed.i didn't even think to look at my pads until 3 days after my accident, when i saw what a beating they took. it's time to replace them (always replace your gear after an accident), but damn, if they didn't do exactly what they were supposed to.

I got these pads to use for backyard bmx dirt jumping and mtb downhill riding and they fit great. The plates are durable stainless steel but they are light and comfortable, and stay in place while still being flexible. I can't say I tested them in falls repeatedly but I did fall once and they prevented my forearm & elbow from getting scuffed, and especially protect your knees and shins. Like any pads they tend to get a little sweaty but they're lightweight and a little more breathable than other pads I've had, and they do not restrict movement. The straps are long and can be adjusted to however tight you want. The velcro was a little itchy behind my one knee (I was wearing shorts) but nothing major. Even with all the abuse they stayed in place and did not slip down. They come on & off quite quickly and work just as well over clothes. I did not test them out riding a motorbike but they're great for bicycle stuff. There's no certification or rating so I don't know how well they would prevent broken bones, but I only got them to prevent flesh from scraping the ground and bruising from rocks and roots so if you think you need professional protection, you might need to spend a bit more. I am an adult, I would say these pads would likely be fine for teens but not smaller children.

I got these because I have a little pocket rocket lol and that sucker goes like 30mph. I'm 180lbs and my knees are like 6 inches off the ground when I make turns. So, I got these things to make sure I don't wreck myself. First impression, I felt like ironman when I put them on lol. The metal pads are definitely quality.

They really proved their worth when I let my friend ride but I made her put on the pads, and she crashed lol and flew over the handlebars and landed on her knees and elbows (scared the crap out of me) and walked off without a scratch. So I was SUPER happy about that.

The straps can be uncomfortable for sure sometimes. That's why I'd give it a 4 star. After a long ride I'll have marks but it isn't too bad. Better that then destroying my skin.
