Ruby Campbell isn't daunted at the prospect of working as a Nanny for the notorious Barclay Rothchester. She's warned he's a strict control freak, but she's sure she can soften him up.
Barclay Rothchester lost his wife three years ago. Of course he's never going to find someone to replace her role, the one she did so perfectly. He's sure its not going to be hippy dippy Ruby with her sass and rebellious ways.
Ruby is determined to give his daughters the Christmas they deserve. Now if only she can tolerate their father long enough to make that happen.
Are they both willing to put their stubborn pride aside, or will they risk losing the one gift that can't be wrapped: each other.

He is a grumpy, depressed man that works to forget his pain in life. Ruby has a bubbly personality winning the heart of the girls almost immediately and Barclayheart later. The girls are the best in the book. I normally don't like single parent stories but these girls stole my heart.
Read this book you won't be disappointed. I recommend this book. It has a HEA.
When Ruby, a modern day Mary Poppins, interviews for a nanny position in Notting Hill she is warned that the client, widower Mr. Rothchester, is notoriously difficult. Not one to back down from a challenge she accepts the job and immediately falls in love with her new charges, Jessica and Lottie. She gets a taste of Mr. Rothchester's wrath the very first day when she finds herself going head to head with him in an argument over a picnic. Over the next couple months the story unfolds with Ruby getting more and more entangled and protective over the girls and more and more attracted to their infuriating father.

The author has written Barclay so well, you can't help but love him even as you want to shake him for being insane. He is a beautiful and broken man. Ruby is tenacious and larger than life, fiercely loyal and exactly the kind of person you would want to care for your kids.

The chemistry between Ruby and Barclay is very charged and electric and desperate. This is a story about loss and love and learning to live again, all wrapped up in the magic of Christmas.

Loved it.
I love a good Christmas novel and this one fits right in. It is a sweet romance story that has single dad, boss - employee, and age gap tropes. If you are looking for a quick and easy read to get you in the mood for Christmas, then grab this one.
Ruby has known what its like to loose a loved one, so she is the perfect fit to be the new nanny for Barclay Rothchester and his adorable girls. He might not be the easiest of employers to get along with but his girls make it all the worth while. Ruby sets about to teach them all that you can celebrate Christmas and enjoy your life, even if you are still grieving and mourning a family member thats passed. She has an exuberant personality that can only make you smile and be happy. She was a little silly and immature at times, but she's young and had plenty of time to mature. I think this might even have been a plus for her being a nanny so she could play with the girls and not feel self conscious about looking foolish. Barclay was a lost sole to begin with. He lost his wife two years previous and hasn't yet learnt to deal with it. He had conflicting emotions over staying true to his wife and fighting the feelings he was developing for Ruby. I felt his anguish and understood why he was struggling.
The epilogue left me on a huge high and I felt that Ruby deserved all the happiness that was coming her way. That goes for Barclay too. He found his feet in all aspects of his life and was definitely due his HEA.

Especially because she herself is an orphan. She lost her father very young and her mother passed when she turned 18. Her experience gives her an empathy to the children she finds in her care.
She finds herself assigned a new family with two young girls and a widower father. These girls have had a ever revolving door of nannies because their father is a stickler for his regimented schedule for the girls. They haven't been able to keep anyone.
Mr. Rothchester is a grump. He reminds me of Captain Von Trapp when Maria first comes to the family. Actually a lot of the tone between Ruby and Mr Rothchester reminds me it. I love that musical so it works for me.
The girl's mother died 3 years ago. Because of his sorrow, Barclay (Mr Rothchester) has distanced himself from everyone, even his girls.
Jessica & Charlotte (Lottie) are two girls in need of something more than the strict schedule their father thinks is what will make their lives better without their mother. But contrary to what he thinks, what improves his daughters lives is the attention and care that they receive from their new nanny, Ruby, who drives him nuts.
Ruby is determined to give these girls their perfect Christmas. And in the process helps thaw Barclay, who never thought he'd ever find someone else after his wife passed.
Hilarious, heartwarming, and the spirit of the holidays.
I haven't listened to anything narrated by Charlie Emmeline Albers. I loved her narration.
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I really liked the writing style, it had an informal approach to it that made the dialog (both internal & spoken) seem so natural, like the type of things me & my friends would think and say!
It had me swooning over Barclay (in my head he’s Liam Hensworth-esk) but wanting me to shake him at the same time - I totally feel Ruby’s pain there! And even though there is not a maternal bone in my body, Lottie & Jess were just completely loveable girls!
I could totally see this as a Christmas movie!
It’s such a Beautiful slow burn romance with some comedy (laugh out lid moments) full of love and care and grief and healing !!
I laughed and cried and fell in love with this family !
Ruby is a witty and sassy nanny who starts working for a grieving widow looking after his two young girls .
Barkley is the grieving widow who is angry at the world and his behavior is curt and nasty because of it. He also works way too much !!! This story is about how love and dedication and wonderful Christmas spirit can change people and bring them together !!
Loved it !!!!
This is exactly what you would expect from a Christmas romance, there is a the Darcy-esque, hot but moody love interest and the every girl protagonist - London makes the perfect festive background for all that happens.
