- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021I just don't even know what to say. I had to sit with this book for more than 48 hours after it was done, just to process it. So I feel compelled to leave a review; I'd give 6 stars if I could. What an incredible ride...like going on a scuba dive into deeper relational waters then you'd usually find. I'd put this novel within a hand full of books I've read in my lifetime that truly made me feel something. I genuinely laughed out loud and cried three-tissue-tears, from what she put together here. I'm grateful I read it and highly recommend to anyone who's looking at reviews to figure out if it's worth it. IMO -- YES!!!!! Don't even give it a second thought, purchase and dive in, you lucky reader.
The writing sparkles and rings true. The author (first time I'm reading her and ready for more. I have so many items notated, I wish I could sit and have a chat with her) is brave in her explorations, taking a more risky dive then you'd expect from the general romance genre. She gives just the right details to make you live the story, to draw you in, to have you share senses and thoughts right along with the main character's. I was fully transported, leaving my world behind effortlessly. It's also courageous because of the issues she's taking on board here: faith, God, belief, religion, grief, race, death, lust, personal boundaries and commitments, all packed inside a deliciously erotic story. Not many authors can slip those subjects into their romances with any lucidity or weight and keep it bouncy. But she did. She rocked it.
The entire story is told from his POV and her writing is so good, she's made it seems plausible that she even knows what it's like to touch yourself as a man, as well as that she's inside the skin of a female POC (being white, I'm not sure how it was handled, but impressed she even did it!)
If you give this book a chance it will make you think and feel and contemplate (and turn you on...the way he talks to her...will leave you wet in the panties).
It makes you wish there was a man in your life talking to you that way, doting on you that way. I love that she inserted a chapter that had only one sentence. I like the way her mind works.
The only complaint I'd make is that it's written as if there is no other woman in the entire world for him and no other shot at love, ever. It's fabulous stakes, but it's never really clear to me why it's so. As a highly successful, attractive, 36 yr old man, thoughtful, caring, who seems open to self reflection and reforming himself though he was on an unhappy path, why was this his only shot in a lifetime? But the lead female was compelling enough and his journey so wonderful...that it didn't matter. I routed for them so much and literally worried about if he'd get his happy ending. That's how utterly engaging it is. I was worried that nonexistent people might not be happy...omg. Her writing is that good--totally vested and swept up.
So, other than that...
I can not praise this book enough. It's a hymn-song to sex, to belief and being human.
I detest when reviews give spoilers and ruin a reader's experience. There seems to be plenty of that here, and I don't want to say anything about these types of details and rob you the joy of discovering it all for yourself. But the thing is, after two days with some kind of emotional hang-over from finishing it...for me, it ended up not really being about the character specifics, the story lines, or the sex...it was about what the book took on board and how thoughtful and generous and entertaining the writing was. I feel inspired. Every word was exactly where it was supposed to be, like she was laying down yummy pieces of trail mix for Hansel and Gretel to follow through a complex forest...taking me days to digest the feelings and thoughts evoked through the character's interactions. She rocked it. I don't understand why this book wasn't some of mega international best seller, it blew me away.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2018“Credo ut intelligam: I believe so that I may understand".
Sierra is a delver, diving deep into the abyss of her subject matter and bringing us unparalleled treasures. Her writing style is so subsuming, the entire story just absorbs you like you BELONG there, in the pages. she makes you forget the world, the moment your eyes travel on the words on the first page, you are transported and then firmly transplanted, IN THE BOOK !
No other words to describe how it feels like to read her books except pilgrimage. A spiritual awakening of your senses, till you see the characters right beside you, feel with them, smell them, touch them, love them. It's transcendental and holy.
She explores two of the worlds oldest mysteries, Spirituality and sexuality. They have been studied in detail since the dawn of time, and still hold mystery. While spirituality is more or less about religion and beliefs, and revered openly, sexuality still is whispered and shamed and owning it puts you in a box.
But Zenobia Iverson or Zenny is very clear in her vocation she has chosen for herself. And before she crosses the threshold, she wants one month exploring her body. So who does she approach with an offer he can't refuse- Sean Bell !
They have words for men like me— playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser.
I’m a sinner with a dimpled smile and perfect hair, and I know how to make sin feel like heaven.
The month is full of sexual and spiritual revelations which astound both Zenny-bug and Sean The Make Me Doubt Man
The sex is beyond hot, it's soul scorching, will set your body on fire, melting your inhibitions and draining your BoB's batteries multiple times. Which is to be expected of course from a Sierra simone book. She very unapologetically explores sex as a prayer. It's verbiage,it's echoes, it's sounds, it's feels, it's moans, it's sighs, it's uplifting crescendo, it's peaceful stupor, it's soul enveloping euphoria. It's Orgasm of the Alphabets !!
I'm still starving for more of Zenny's curiosity, thirsty for more of Sean's kisses and want to be voyeur a bit longer to their intense passion and forbidden love.
I can't sing enough praises for the book, it's more than a book actually, a sermon, a revelation a communion- one sided apparently, because her pen talks and our eyes listen !
The ONE most important thing that I walked away with, from this book is -self acceptance. Being comfortable in my own desires.
It means recognizing that there’s nothing any less holy about your body than there is about your soul, that as long as your body is treated with consent and respect and affection— and that you treat the bodies of others in the same way— there’s nothing inherently sinful about your flesh. About its desires or lack of desires.
I fell in love with Tyler Bell in Priest, his soul charging love for Red Lipped Poppy.
This brother, Sean, is a step further in his fervour and vehemence in his love for off limits Zenny, because “She’s young, she’s Elijah’s sister, and she wants to be a professional non-sex-haver.”
But his life is already invaded, he has no option but to surrender and negotiate peace. He just didn't count for falling for the invader!!
“I want to build a tower around you, and then build a castle around that tower, and then dig a moat around that castle, and then I want to guard you like a dragon. Burn anyone who tries to hurt you into ash and then scorch those ashes a second time.”
Ahhhhhhhhh to be at the receiving end of this enveloping, obsessive love
I envied Zenny, as much as I loved her naivetè and innocence, I was so jealous of her . The cutest, perkiest, pert pixie of a girl, who stole Sean right from under our noses
So buy this book on release day , open the pages and just forget the world!
Hail Sean! Hail Zenny! Hail Elijah! Hail Sierra! Hail Tyler, Aiden,Ryan, Dad, Mom
Let's all be SINNERS!!!
Amen
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2025I read Priest before this one, and it was riveting. The same applies to Sinner. The writing, the storytelling, the ability to keep the reader glued to every page is all there. And although I could not put these books down, I did not enjoy the stories being told. Contradictory, I know, but here's the thing: I read for fun. Unfortunately, and despite being engrossed in both Sinner and Priest, I ended both books feeling down. The spice was really good (in both Priest and Sinner), but the tone was just too dark - it did not leave me with that feel-good feeling that romance novels usually do. It was just too draining.
I liked Sean and Zenny well enough, but the age gap between them was too big for my taste. Zenny was written as this mature 21-year old, but the mere fact that she did not consider them falling for each other speaks to some immaturity, especially given the fact that she used to have an adolescent crush on Sean.
I will probably not continue with the series, but I do think this author knows her craft.

After finishing Priest, I couldn’t wait to learn more about the eldest Bell brother. Let me tell you, Sean Bell did not disappoint. I can’t put into words how much I enjoyed Sinner. This book was real, raw & touching. The story was full of emotion & beautifully portrayed. The pacing was perfection. The tension between Sean & Zenny was palpable. The spice was top tier & Sean had a filthy mouth (maybe even more than Tyler). If you love forbidden romance this is your sign to read Sinner.

3.0 out of 5 stars Boa leitura, mas ficou aquém, considerando o primeiro livro da série

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate this book
I have to say that I’m very open minded when it comes to books etc. and it was not until this year that I started to read books and I have not hated a single one of them but this one takes the spot.. I don’t know, I’m just not feeling this one, I feel like it’s both very slow but at the same time so fast and like there’s no details. It just didn’t hit my heart or anything. And also I didn’t know that it was only one narrative, and not both the parties like I’m used to reading. And perhaps It was a bit depressing, the whole storyline. And some parts were just too weird/childish in some way.. I was mostly angry when reading this so yeah, I don’t recommend it but we are all different!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sierra Simone 👑
So so gut, einfach nur WOW.
ist einfach traumhaf; Herz aus Gold mit einer gesunden Mischung ausaltklug, Ehrgeiz und Naivität.
Und Sean, ich bin geschmolzen...so heiß & he falls first! Und das ist richtig heiß 🔥!
Und die restlichen Bell Brothers tauchen immer wieder auf und der traurige Part.
Aber im ganzen hat mich die Story mitgerissen und mich glücklich gemacht!
