I always have fun with this the Cookies & Chance Mysteries series and love Josie and Sally! Poor Sally has some really terrible luck as she awaits the arrival of her first child. The plot is complicated with some really good plot twists and a few hints scattered about and some great scenes. I did get tired of her constantly saying she didn't want her baby born in prison. The idea was understandable but since she was already due and had not even been arrested, the point would have been better if she had been afraid of being in prison as her child grew up. I felt for Gianna having to put up with Johnny's grandmother as they planned their wedding. I am not sure I would have been brave enough to marry him with the old bat always in the wings. Their parents are still crazy but were less over the top; I prefer this level of insanity. Always love her grandmother who is the only thing keeping the family on an even keep sometimes. Christmas may never be the same again for Sally and Mike! Thank goodness most of that will because they will have a bundle of love to enjoy it with. Catherine Brun did it again!!!

This book was such a disappointment for me! I am still reading it only because I never leave the book unfinished.

Without giving away anything so not to apoil it for others, I just feel that the whole town where the story is taking place is populated by high school sophomores. Everyone is talking about their high school sweethearts or ex boyfriends/ girlfriends. Characters are given one characteristic and that is it - that is their defining feature and their whole depth. Male characters are overly protective and treat women as if they are small children, and resort to anger and raised voices to solve all the issues, and femal characters seem to consider it normal and "gentlemenly" behaviour.
I am giving it three stars only becaise the plot seems interesting even though the characters are so unbelievably immature

I enjoyed this book. It is a lot more than just a Christmas cosy mystery, there is a wedding, a birth and even a cold case to solve. All of it was entertaining and that is before you get to the weird and wacky characters. Who I just loved. This Christmas stocking is certainly packed full of Christmas, humour and high jinx. It even contained a few Christmas recipes at the back of the book, to help you get into the festive moor. The mystery, while hidden inbetween preparation for the wedding and birth, it was well done and I never felt like it was a secondary thought by the author. Although there wasn't too many suspects, it flowed nicely. A fun character driven Christmas cozy.
Sally has a lot to look forward to this Christmas, she is expecting her first child and her sister is getting married. But when two Santas steal her car at gun point, it puts a dampener on the celebrations. Then an ex boyfriend is found dead, stabbed to death by her serving knife. Not wanting to have her child in jail, Sally has no choice but to find the killer. Can she find the killer before the jollyless Santa's suck all the fun out of Christmas and she is arrested?

Things get messier from them on, with a murder (that Sally is framed for), another car jacking and a psychopath on the loose. Oh, and a baby. I enjoyed it enough to finish the book, but I found it to be rather over the top in all the things that went wrong. I know families can be messy, but I thought it should have been dialled down a bit.
