This book was so good! I was fully engaged from start to finish and a little upset when it ended. Just enough storyline and enough spice to keep it fun. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s writing!!

Equivalent Exchange was everything I could want in a romance book. I admire that this story depicted real, grown up love. No beating around the bush, no playing games. Laken and Keris both knew exactly what to expect from each other. There was never any confusion.

Laken and Keris were two amazing characters with electrifying chemistry. I loved Laken’s confidence. It was the most attractive thing about him. He was driven and always went after what he wanted; nothing would dare hold him back. Keris had been put through the ringer, only to come out strong and proud. She’s a talented artist who is great at what she does, and she knows it. Both characters were layered, compelling, and likeable. I loved them separately and together naturally blossoming into a beautiful relationship. 

The plot was engaging and captivating. CCJ is a great writer and I appreciate her not giving us so much right away. She plants seeds along the way in order for everything to come full circle later on. I love when authors do that. It keeps me intrigued and wanting more.

I got this book on a whim and I’m glad I did; it gave me life! Equivalent Exchange was funny, steamy, and wholesome. This is CCJ’s 50th, yes 50TH book! I have a long way to go when it comes to her back list. But I don’t doubt that she’ll deliver.

The anime I am talking about is "Fullmental Alchemist." The saying, "Equivalent Exchange." The whole principle that the show centered around, right? Equivalent exchange. If you want something… you have to give something else up. In the show, the law of equivalent exchange was something magic users were bound by. Ed, the main character, was an alchemist, able to use rune-like symbols to create certain effects. He and his younger brother, Al, were grieving the loss of their mother and attempted to use alchemy to bring her back from the dead. Their attempt failed, and they cost them… a lot physically. If you wanted something… you had to be willing to give up something else."

This book indeed did have spicy scenes but it was more than that! It was two broken people coming together exchanging trust and taking a chance to see if love could blossom. It was very relatable. I loved the characters. Especially my girl Natalie. I found my self craving some aunties house beer. I wish the beer’s existed and even better i wish i could visit night shift. I never thought i would read a book about a black owner owning a bar and a black graphic designer falling in love. I am so in love with Laken!

I am sooo overwhelmed by how GREAT this book was. Although, I never doubted how good it was going to be. But my goodness, this was absolutely amazing. This book left me on a high, and I don't want to get down. Laken and Keris were probably 2 of the most lovable duos I've ever read about. They were grown and so mature. They both had some trauma they were dealing with. But it was just so admirable how they dealt with them. That's what I love about CCJ books. We get a level of maturity that is so refreshing. Two grown adults dealing with life in real adult-like ways. That's what Laken and Keris did. No games. Laken told her what it was. Although a bit apprehensive and understandably so, Keris stuck around. CCJ took us on a deep journey to love with those two, and we also got to see how real and powerful their love grew before they even realized it. And the dialogues…chef's kiss. Last thing I'll say…Nathalie a real one. Get you a friend like her.
