About the author
Steve Hockensmith’s first novel, the mystery/Western hybrid "Holmes on the Range," was a finalist for the Edgar, Shamus, Anthony and Dilys awards. He went on to write several sequels (with more on the way!) as well as the tarot-themed mystery "The White Magic Five and Dime" and the New York Times bestseller "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls." He also teamed up with educator “Science Bob” Pflugfelder to write the middle-grade mystery "Nick and Tesla and the High-Voltage Danger Lab" and its five sequels. As with the previous two books, Dreadfully Ever After was action-packed, fast-paced, and full of humor, suspense, and even a few surprises. I'm not a big reader of the `classics' (your gasps of horror inserted here), so these horror/regency/classics mash-ups are perfect for me. Modern apocalyptic twists make stuff I probably should have read a long time ago more appealing.
This one takes itself a little more seriously than the first two books, but it still has the wit and humor I've come to expect from the series. It was nice to see Mary and Kitty enjoy some limelight, although I did miss spending more time with Elizabeth and Darcy, who are separated for the majority of the novel. The middle of the book was a bit draggy, with more angst and less action than I'd like, but the love scenes are still interrupted by frequent bouts of violence and entrails flying through the air.
If you enjoyed the first two in this series, you'll enjoy this book.
One small complaint: several times there was a reference to Jane as Mrs. Bingham instead of Bingley.
This was the best of the three. But I'm not certain if that is because it's actually better or because by the third book, I was able to suspended any hope of something like The Walking Dead and just assumed I was getting Night of the Living Dead. This made the story moderately enjoyable. Like watching a cheesy horror flick because it is a cheesy horror flick. The zombies still don't make sense. How the hell did King George get bitten? Why, after 20+ years of zombie attacks, have the British NOT figured out how to handle the issue? And what happen to the bunny? Because I really did care more about the bunny than the people. One might argue that since I care about the story, it must be good. Don't mistake my questions for caring. I ask them because if the answers had any consistency or coherent reality to them, the story would be ten times better. But the answers are dumb and so is the story.
The only bit I liked was Anne being a zombie. As she was always described as a "pale, sickly creature" this was perfect.
However, there was a enough ridiculous romance, nasty ninja, dastardly doctors, and flesh-eating zombies to make this a fine read for a lazy afternoon by the pool. I wouldn't recommend it, but I also wouldn't buy copies just to burn.

If you like "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies" and the prequel, "Dawn of the Dreadfulls", you should read this book. Highly recommended!
Then i brought Dreadfully ever after, great and now just finished reading this one, all fantastic and would highly recommend.
