Drop Dead Sexy has to be one of the funniest, quirkiest yet positively endearing books I have ever read. When I read what this book was going to be about I knew that I wanted to get it as soon as it came out and that it had the potential to be an outstanding read. It exceeded my expectations and then some!!

Olivia Sullivan is a Mortician and the County Coroner in a small town in Georgia. That in itself had me hooked. You can imagine how life growing up in the small town where she lived had to have been for her as the daughter of a Mortician. You know how cruel kids can be. It was especially hard when she came of the age to be able to date boys. When she finds a guy she really likes and they are going to have sex for the first time it ends with a horrific latex allergy resulting in a trip to the hospital. That would be enough to scar anyone but the next time she finds someone she cares enough about to try and have sex again that guy literally died from the experience. This led to a very long absence of trying to have sex. With the help from her delightful yet meddling mother Olivia sets out to rectify the situation and end her sexual ice age from its 6 year freeze. Her inner dialogue as she begins this pursuit had me crying tears because I was laughing so hard. I felt like I was there with Olivia and that she was speaking directly to me as all of this was unfolding. Eventually she winds up in a bar and again the inner dialogue that Olivia has about the place that she finds once again had me crying from laughter. Inside the bar Olivia happens to find the gorgeous Catcher Mains and so begins her pursuit to end her sexual drought.

This book really was so good. There are things that happen and that they come upon during the investigation of a murder that Catcher is assisting with from Olivia's town that go from the bizarre to the ridiculous (although because it is happening to Olivia and Catcher it is all believable), but all make for a thoroughly entertaining read. I have no tears left from my all of my laughter. Along the way we get some smoking sex scenes as Olivia and Catcher fall in love with one another. Catcher is a hot alpha male, did I mention that he is hot because well he is so hot. Olivia would be someone that I would want to hang out with because in addition to her incredible sense of humor, like me she does not like anyone who would hurt children, the elderly or animals. Also even after her two horrific attempts at sex she still takes a leap of faith with Catcher and although her inner dialogue is skeptical at times she never lets her doubt dissuade her from believing that she and Catcher could be a relationship possibility once he shows up in her town and wants to continue to see her beyond just having sex. I loved how that showed her inner strength.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who reads romance novels. It has a great mystery plot that involves fantastic quirky delightful characters. The story flowed and I never felt that it slowed in any way. I loved the chemistry between Olivia and Catcher and I found my heart so happy when they found their HEA. You really need to buy this book. You will be so happy that you did.

The fact that she's around dead people all day doesn't help her image either. After a seven year dry spell, Olivia's ready to take matters into her own hands. She finds herself a bar out of town and plans on having a one night stand. She never expected to meet the hottest man she'd ever seen with a drop dead sexy smile.

Catcher Mains is a gorgeous officer with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The minute he locks eyes with Olivia, you know Catcher's going to give her a night to remember. The two hit it off instantly and the connection between them is both sexy and fun. Unfortunately, Olivia wakes up the next morning embarrassed and leaves thinking she'll never see Catcher again. He however has other plans. When a murder takes place in Olivia's town, Catcher volunteers to work the case knowing he'll be able to see Olivia again. He knows the chemistry between them was stronger than just one night together.

What follows is a funny story of Catcher and Olivia getting to know each other while attempting to track down a murderer while witnessing some pretty strange events. There are a number of laugh out loud moments with fun and easy going characters. The story is told from Olivia's POV and provides an ending that will make you smile.

Drop Dead Sexy was a fast, very funny read and my first by Katie Ashley. It was a fun little book Rom-Com that I enjoyed very much.

Instead of a typical Meet Cute, the reader is treated to a Meet Hot & Sexy when Olivia, a mortician/coroner, decides she’s going to sweep the cobwebs from her lady parts with a one night stand. Tired of being thought of as the town Spinster, she puts on a sexy, borrowed dress and heads to an out of town roadside bar where she catches the eye of Holden “Cather” Mains, an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). They have a couple of very hot and steamy encounters, first in the bar’s supply closet, and then at Catcher’s hotel. Even though it’s the great mind-blowing type of sex, Olivia feels a little out of her depth and sneaks off in the morning before Catcher wakes up.

When Olivia returns home, she is immediately hit with a homicide investigation and is surprised to discover that Catcher has gotten himself assigned to the case in order to get closer to her. What ensues next is an engaging and often hilarious mix of crime solving, slapstick comedy
and a very sweet and sexy leap towards an HEA.

This book was filled with quirky secondary characters and had a decently mysterious and somewhat strange murder investigation to keep the reader entertained. I’m going with 3.5 stars on this one, taking off half a star because I felt the ending was a bit abrupt and a few questions with the investigation were left unanswered. I will however read more by Ms. Ashley. I laughed out loud throughout this book and really enjoyed it.

I want to start by saying I have all of Katie Ashely's books. I may not have read them all but I have them on my kindle, paperback and audible. As soon as she hits publish I hit buy now. Last evening I decided to start drop dead sexy. OMFG! I had to stifle so many laughs ( I finished at 02h00 and I don't think my husband would have appreciated the wake up laughter...) from the first chapter, the funeral, the family, the grandmother, the um after effects of visiting Olive.....HOLY S**t. I highlighted so many passages I just stopped cause the whole book would have been highlighted. So freaking awesome. No pressure or anything but will there be more in the series? Her brother? Or his sister? Motown? Anything? I need to read more about this town and family.

The rest is great too, funny bits interspersed with a murder hunt with Olivia, as a coroner, getting involved in an investigation with Catcher (Holden) Mains, a man of her dreams and a GBI agent. They lurch from curious to unbelievable to hilarious incidents.
It's told really well from the dry wit of Olivia who can justify virtually anything and everything she does. She also doesn't really seem to get embarrassed, thanks, no doubt, to her irreverent grandmother Pease, who pops up every now and again to put her shot in.
It's altogether a well written, funny, charming book that does have a few sex scenes in.
I was originally put off slightly by the fact Olivia was a mortician. Don't be.
Buy it, it's so worth it. An apt title too.

I adored this book. Katie Ashley is a must read author for me and I've enjoyed everything I've read of hers but it's never made me laugh. This book had me laughing from start to finish. Filled with great dialogue, slap stick comedy and a wild cast of crazy characters it's a fast, fun, sexy read. Drop Dead Sexy wasn't just about the two main characters - Catcher and Olivia, it was an action packed, wild goose chase with a murder mystery which was very entertaining all the way.
Olivia, a coroner and a mortician is funny as hell. Catcher is a super sexy federal agent who can cook. As the two draw to a close on their case, their chemistry sparks more, their witty banter never ends.
I enjoyed everything about this book, from Olivia with her less-than-stellar love life - ( which you will have to read to believe - talk about bad luck!), Catcher and his inflated ego (as she called it) for my liking more like extreme confidence, Olive and her man-enhancing yarb, and without a doubt Pease - the foul mouthed octogenarian grandmother who I think delivers the line of the book - 'She shook her head before pointing her cane at me. “You might’ve gone through a hell of a long dry spell, but this one is sure worth the wait.”'
I love the chemistry between Olivia and Catcher, while his ego might be just a tad inflated, but he's so into Olivia right from the start that you can't help but to fall for his act. So not only do you get a sizzling romance in this book, we get a side helping of a murder mystery, a nudist colony (er, resort), hillbilly hoodoo with venomous rattle snakes, the Dixie Mafia...... Even with all that happening, you still get a well written RomCom which could easily be made into a fantastic movie. I loved it.

I’ve just read a series of books that were bland and female leads idiots. So how refreshing and unexpected that this book just blew me away. It was so funny and yet so endearingly heartstopping ( no pun intended). This author just knows how to write and I loved both main characters equally. Her job was so cool and boy did she have some sexual history, and he just had no filter. I loved it and am now sold on this author so going looking for more from her. Highly recommend.
