To Me I Wed (Unconventional Brides Romance) Mass Market Paperback – April 25, 2017
Purchase options and add-ons
Nightmare bridesmaids’ dresses, tasteless fondant icing, budget-busting wedding expenses—some women just aren't about it. They’ll laugh off tradition, make their own rules—and find the most outrageous ways possible to flip wedding day lockstep into true love.
She's done, finished, had it. Between her family’s expectations and being always-a-bridesmaid, Lily Perry is fed up with being nagged to find a husband. She's happy with her life—and tired of being burned by “nice guys” who demand she fit their dreams. So she’s going to settle the issue once and for all: by marrying herself. And celebrated chef Vincent Caro's fabulous restaurant is the perfect place for a big-time, blow-out,
not-hearing-it-any-more wedding. Lily doesn't care if everyone—including Vincent—thinks she's crazy. Especially when his mouth-watering talent and no-commitments style ignites one sizzling, no-strings fling, or two…or more.
But no matter how hard they try to keep things light, their relationship keeps getting hotter. The more Vincent helps Lily tackle unexpected trouble, the more he finds she might be everything he’s ever wanted. Can she afford to forget caution and finally let go? And can they both take a risk to discover if what they have is meant to last long after the dessert course?

I had a hard time with Vin. Both he and some of the storyline, feel outdated. I remember the woman who married herself and that wasn't recent. In spite of my critiques, it's a quick read and Lily & her family are fun, and realistic to boot.
K.M. Jackson is a good writer. The chemistry between Lily and Vin leaps off the page. Lily is an event planner, but she holds onto things of the past, like the old, beater car her father gave her. Vin is a chef at his own restaurant and is trying to get over the loss of his mother. I love his passion for food (and feeding people), his love of surfing (who knew surfing was that big in Long Island, New York?), and particularly his dog.
Lily's grandmother, Mama Dee, is a hoot. I enjoyed reading the interactions between Lily and Mama Dee.
TO ME I WED is book 2 in the Unconventional Brides series. Even though I didn't read the first book in the series, this book can be read as a standalone title.
Normally, I appreciate a traditional romance where the hero and heroine have a conflict that keeps them apart for the majority of the book before they finally get together. Lily and Vin butted heads almost to the very end of the book. Their arguments, though, seemed blown out of proportion, a simple misunderstanding that an honest conversation would have fixed. Lily walked on eggshells around Vin regarding certain topics. And Vin didn't really open himself up on important aspects of his life, like the death of his mother. Because of that, their relationship, if you can call it that, came off as superficial. Part of the problem is that there was no real external conflict that kept them apart. Vin didn't understand the reason for the single-lady wedding, but after a couple of negative comments from Vin, the two of them didn't really deal with the wedding until the very end.
I applaud Jackson for taking a real-life story from the media and creating a story around it.
