Eliza Knight is an award winning, USA Today and international bestselling author. Her love of history began as a young girl when she traipsed the halls of Versailles and ran through the fields in Southern France. She can still remember standing before the great golden palace, and imagining what life must have been like. While not reading, writing or researching for her latest book, she tries to keep up with her three not-so-little children. She lives atop a small mountain with her own knight in shining armor, three princesses, two very naughty Newfies, and a turtle named Fish.

Look for STARRING ADELE ASTAIRE a story full of glitz and glam, delving into the life of Adele Astaire, a spirited and talented woman who served up smiles and love both on and off the stage—with and without her also famous brother Fred Astaire— along with a determined young dancer with rags-to-riches dreams. The Highlander’s Temptation is the Prequel to the Stolen Brides series by Eliza Knight. We never know why people come into our lives or why some leave for that matter. In this story, Jaime and his father stumbled on the ambush of another Laird and part of his family. Jaime broke away from his fathers men to go rescue a small girl of four and return her to her family and clan. Fifteen years later life began to slowly interweave their fates into a pattern of love, loyalty, and self determination. When Jaime and Lorna meet again, entirely by accident while Jaime is on an errand for William Wallace, the coals of their past begin to warm, the spark becomes a flame, and they become consumed in the fires of desire. Their fates are changed, or were they predestined? This is an excellent prequel and provides just enough background for you to begin to better understand The Stolen Brides Series. Be sure to start at the beginning with this Prequel before continuing on to the rest of the series. Wonderfully written story with believable, multidimensional characters set in a fully developed plot.

For some reason this book from Ms. Eliza Knight kind of confused me a little which isn’t to say that Ms. Knight is not able to tell an absorbing easily understood story with good characters. I had no problem understanding the story of the heroine Lorna who long ago when she was four years old her family was murdered was saved by a young boy who it turns out is the hero Jamie. Lorna grows up into a beautiful headstrong woman under the protection of her brother and current Sutherland laird Magnus who decides to betroth her to an unseen laird since no one else wants her or has asked for her hand in marriage. Lorna being a bit of a hopeless romantic wants to marry only for love which seems impossible but luckily in comes the devilishly handsome all grown-up current laird of the Montgomery clan and hero of the piece Jamie. Jamie remembers long ago saving Lorna and the attraction and love for her is instant. For Lorna on the other hand it takes a while but eventually she starts to remember him as the guy who saved her so long ago but also can’t help falling for him as well. Their love is somewhat doomed by Magnus Lorna’s brother who is bound and determined that Lorna will wed someone else and definitely not Jamie because he is a lowlander. Will Magnus let Lorna and Jamie be together or will Lorna end up betrothed to the unseen laird?
See easy enough story not hard to follow along with plus there is fairly interesting plot twists and even William Wallace makes an appearance to shake things up a bit too. Okay what confuses me is some of the side characters. I have read only a few of the stolen brides series from Ms. Knight the first one the highlander’s reward and correct me if I am wrong but the hero’s name was Magnus Sutherland and he was a laird too but he does get married to an English lady named Arbella the heroine in that book. I have also read the 6th book in the series the highlander’s sin which concerns Lorna’s younger sister Heather Sutherland as the heroine but she gets married to the hero Duncan Mackay in that book as well. Are these the same characters then because in this book Magnus isn’t married and Lorna bemoans that fact of him not being married and unable to understand her at all? Magnus does even show that he is not attached by the bonds of matrimony during the Beltane festival due to the fact that he is shacking up with some other girls so unless his wife Arbella doesn’t mind other women in bed with them and he is able to practice polygamy which I didn’t know that was a common practice in the Scottish highlands or the practice of flagrantly showing his sexual prowess by taking a prostitute in front of everyone in the clan including his wife which I am sure happens but I thought that was not mentioned or was behind closed doors. In fact I couldn’t find anything on lairds being able to have a whole visible harem of women or even them having a mistress which I am sure is possible and does happen but all the Scottish highlander romance books I have read they appear to have only one wife. Another thing that confused me was Heather was married in the previous book but now she’s not and is living with Magnus and Lorna. So since Heather gets to live at home in her brother’s keep her husband Duncan must be cool with this arrangement and leaves her alone while he does whatever he pleases. I just kept thinking that since this book is part of a series then some of the same characters will appear in future books am I correct in this line of thought? The only thing I could figure out was that it was a different Magnus and Heather Sutherland so same first and last names but totally different characters in this book. When I thought of it like that then I wasn’t trying to think that they were the same people or what not and had no problems finishing the book. Now this really sounds like I didn’t like this book at all which is untrue I did like the story, the heroine and hero but since everyone is unrelated from the previous books in the series to this book I don’t think Ms. Knight should of put it in the series to begin with and just kept it as a stand-alone book. I still enjoyed it nonetheless rated it four stars due to the issues mentioned above and will read another book from Ms. Knight.

I’d recommend to anyone who’s into Romance and action. I myself am very much into this time period and have studied Dunrobin castle and the Sutherland.

I absolutely loved this book! Lorna and Jamie have such a connection that draws you in. It makes me wish the author didn't spend so much time writing that they can never be together. We all know that in the end they aren't going to go their separate ways. What would be the point of the story? On that rant, why not just move forward and let the readers enjoy reading about their connection growing stronger.

There was always a tug of war going on between them. Luckily Eliza doesn't make a whole course of spiralling events occur because they thought the worst of each other. They usually came to their senses fairly quickly. That allowed us to see how vulnerable they really were to their feelings and each other. Ms. Knight has a great way of setting up the story. She writes sections through the minds of the hero and heroin, so you really get to see what they think of each other. Then when they approach each other you get to see how their thoughts control their next move.
Lorna' s brother is a Laird in the Highlands and he doesn't want her to marry Laird Jamie because he lives in the lower lands where all the fighting is going on with the English. Jamie and Lorna' s attraction for each other can't be broken because it started when they were young, and that first encounter created a spark. It's that spark that develops a full blown love and need for each other, and their dedication to fight for what they really want; finally brings them together. Oh and a little bairn on the way can't hurt either. Pick up the book. It truly is worth your while.

This one is just so-so. It just slogged for me. Overall the storyline is very good, but it took me forever to get through it.

I luckily read Conquered by the Highlander, which is book 1 of the Conquered Brides series, first. I say luckily because had I read this book first, I'd never have read the other one. In this book, the h's brother is not only grumpy, but mean. He never tells his sister why he won't approve her choice of husband, but instead insists on his choice. Book 1 starts where this one ends, so I know how it will end, and I just couldn't wait to get there.

I wasn't fond of this story, but I really loved Conquered by the Highlander where this mean brother is the H. I liked his character so much better there.

The writing is good. Could use a little polish.

I love this series and Jaime and Lorna's story was beautiful. I was not disappointed in the slightest, I enjoyed everything about it and fell in love with Jaime at the same time. I hope that Eliza does more in the series, as there are a lot more of her characters that she can explore. Well done Eliza
