Purchase options and add-ons
"An intense, emotionally charged, and erotically driven battle-of-wills romance"―Publishers Weekly
Being a superstar in the hottest new band, Toxsin, can be a dangerous gig, as guitarist Ramsey finds out when he ends up with a tattoo he definitely didn't ask for in a very intimate location. Now he needs a tattoo rescue from artist, Jewel―and maybe a little something more.
Ramsey's reputation as a bad-boy rocker is exceeded only by his dedication to his music. When a jilted groupie gets back at him for a one-night stand with an intimate―and completely inappropriate―tattoo, he needs it fixed, and fast.
When a high-profile tattoo job lands Jewel an invite on Toxsin's latest tour, she can't say no. What she's really worried about is ruining the gig by hooking up with the first guy to completely rock her world. She knows she should resist―Ramsey's not the kind to stick around for a morning after. But the way he makes her feel could be worth any risk.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"This book packed such an intensely sexy punch that I just couldn’t stop reading it. Page after page I devoured every ounce of the sexual tension, flirtation and complications that existed between Ramsey and Jewel… I really can’t wait to see what’s next for the men of Toxsin and of course we can’t forget their ladies!" ― The Romance Studio
"Ryder’s second Rock Band contemporary (after Rock Me Two Times) is an intense, emotionally charged, and erotically driven battle-of-wills romance.... A smoothly flowing story and a made-for-each-other couple will enthrall series fans and new readers alike." ― Publishers Weekly
"Ryder proves she is a serious contender in the world of rock romance with the sophomore entry of her Rock Band series. Anticipation builds as Ramsey and Jewel head toward their first explosive sexual encounter. Ryder incorporates a good dose of jealousy, greed and frustration in this excellent portrayal of life on the road." ― RT Book Reviews, 4 Stars

Ramsey's always embraced his womanizing ways, living life to its decadent fullness, until a vindictive groupie tries to tarnish his bad boy reputation with an embarrassing tattoo. Getting it fixed changes his life irrevocably though as he meets a woman who wants him only for himself. After a lifetime of not feeling as though he measures up, feeling lost in a world that wants to own him, he's drawn to Jewel and desperate to prove himself worthy of her. Ramsey's a super sexy yet complex man whose actions aren't always honorable. His protective nature sometimes becomes stifling but it's his subtle way of expressing his love. In trying to be a better man he owns up to his mistakes which makes him worthy of HEA and forgiven at every turn by Jewel which was sweet along with slightly frustrating. He was a bit animalistic, vibrating with intensity, which draws you to him despite all his flaws.
Jewel's a free spirit, living her life by the seat of her pants and desperate to prove herself. Even with her parents wanting her to give up her dreams she's willing to sacrifice everything for a chance at HEA. Part of that HEA rests with womanizer Ramsey and the kindred spirit she sees behind his hard rocking facade. His is a world she's not used to though, one full of lies and vindictiveness, that batters her already shaky self-esteem and leads to many tears and uncertainties as she too wants to be worthy of being with him. Jewel's immensely likable and has sacrificed much to find notoriety as a tattoo artist which had me rooting for her every step of the way. Being with Ramsey at first makes her feel uncertain but the more time they're together the more self-assured she becomes and which leads to even hotter encounters between them. She may have started out as a virgin but quickly became a sex kitten under Ramsey's erotic tutelage.
Ramsey intrigued me from my first glimpse of him in the previous book in this series, gruffness and crassness included. Though he still loves music he's tired of the superficiality, tired of living a life where he can't be himself. Jewel allows him to be himself, sees the man behind the sexy and womanizing facade, which makes them a formidable couple he fights for wholeheartedly. This story of insta-love is scorching with numerous erotic encounters that sometimes get in the way of more meaningful interactions that left me wanting more romance but still satisfied with their journey. Life on the road is vividly depicted with the chaos of fans and paparazzi that left my heart pounding and helped immerse me in the world of Toxsin. Further immersing me in this sensual world are the other compelling members of the band and the sex appeal and cockiness that oozes off them all. Their interactions with each other were brotherly and endearing and showed their loyalty to one another as well as those they give their hearts to. By story's end two bandmates have found HEA which leaves the drool-worthy Drake and sweetly loyal Taz with tales yet to tell which has me counting down the days until they take center stage!
Rock Steady is the second book in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I read the first book, Rock Me Two Times, just before this. I wanted to have the background of the characters and story line. The band Toxsin is made up if four best friends that have known each other for years, including their time serving in the military before becoming famous.
Ramsey Brimer is the guitar player of the group. He enjoys the bad boy rocker image he projects to others. He seems to love the excess that the life of a rock star possesses, including the groupies who constantly want to be with him. When one of the groupies gets him drunk and has a cherry blossom tattooed on his lower stomach, he needs it fixed fast.
Jewel Ryan is an artist and recent college graduate who is struggling to make it on her own. She is working at the tattoo parlor Ramsey and the band members go to have his fixed. After looking at her portfolio, as well as the drawing she had done for him, Ramsey has her make a dragon to cover up the cherry blossoms.
There is instant chemistry between Jewel and Ramsey and he is very impressed with her art work. After she loses her job for helping him, Ramsey starts to pursue her, including a visit to her apartment. When he sees how she is living, he decides he wants to give her a job that includes her coming on tour with the band for a few weeks so she can finish the tattoo.
Ramsey is very forward with his feelings for Jewel and she is reluctant to give in to her feelings. In addition to their budding relationship, there is the newness to the environment of being involved with a band. There are a lot of things that Jewel has never had to deal with, that she is learning about now.
Ramsey has realized he no longer wants to be the “bad boy” with a different girl every night. He wants Jewel for possibly more than the four weeks she is originally set to be with the band. He also likes how she sees beyond the image he projects and sees who he really is.
You see the struggle Ramsey has between maintaining his bad boy image and wanting to change to be with Jewel. When she leaves because she sees him with a groupie, he realizes what he is doing wrong.
As Ramsey tells Jewel, "he wants to be everything she has always thought he can be, but he can't do it without her to anchor hiim." So he can have what he wants, which is to be with only her.
This is a hot romance, full of emotion that you won’t want to put down.
I am looking forward to reading the next story in the series. I will also definitely be reading more of Ms. Ryder’s books in the future!!
A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
Rock Steady starts with another interesting reason. Here, Ramsey gets roofied by a jilted groupie and ends up with a feminine tattoo in a conspicuous place. Here, Ramsey gets roofied by a jilted groupie and ends up with a feminine tattoo in a conspicuous place. The band can’t have this ruin their bad boy image, so they find a tattoo artist to cover the offending tattoo. Jewel designs a really cool dragon and Ramsey is intrigued by her. So she ends up touring with the band to finish the tattoo. Since this is a rockstar romance, you can guess at major portions of the story line: rockstar reluctant to acknowledge his real feelings, rockstar doing stupid things, heroine starting out a meek artist but growing into a real woman. I did enjoy Jewel’s growth and learning to stand up for herself and I liked the HEA. But a lot of the story was a fairly typical hot & steamy rockstar romance just like a lot of other books in this genre.
I applaud Dawn Ryder for publishing a full story in one book of a decent length. However, this was expensive at $5.38 for a story with only a few original ideas.
