The MBUS Pro (Magpul Back-Up Sight) is a corrosion resistant all-steel back-up sighting solution that delivers maximum functionality and strength with minimum bulk. The steel case is hardened and finished with Melonite QPQ for extreme resistance to wear and corrosion.

MBUS Pro sights will mount on any MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny/STANAG 4694 rail, including rail-height gas blocks. The rear sight has dual apertures and features a low-profile knob for easy no-tool windage adjustments, and the front sight features a no-tool elevation adjustment knob.

Positive detents keep the MBUS Pro Front and Rear at standard sight height when deployed, and so low when they are stowed that you'll never notice them until they're needed. The narrow overall width of the front sight is compatible with most IR aiming laser and light installations for the professional user.

The MBUS Pro Front Sight features a steel, rectangular sight post selectable between Match and Standard widths. Match width is 0.40" for increased precision, while Standard width is 0.60" for maximum stability.

I was so hesitant with the purchase that I tried canceling it after I ordered, seconds after my husband noticed it’s under “air soft” category! Amazon moves so fast with their one day shipping that they literally tried shipping it the next morning at 5AM! Gates are closed at that time to our complex & they tried again a few hours later so I thought to check it out. Nowhere on the box or instructions does it say they are for air soft! I compared the item to the legit Magpul site & there are the exact ones on their site! I thought it was a steal for $80 o when Magpul advertised $114 on their site. Won’t be returning the rear site unfortunately Amazon was able to cancel the front site post so I cannot speak about its authenticity.

I had one of those along with the matching rear sight on another rifle. It works very good and I was happy with it so I purchased another set for another rifle.
They have when up in price, greatly, since the last time I purchase one. At that time, if I remember correctly, I paid less for the complete set, front and rear sight, then I did for just the one sight.
Would I purchased it again, yes, if I needed one for another rifle.

UPDATE: I just ordered another one and am happy to report this new MBUS Pro rear sight is excellent. It performs like a champ, lives small on the rail, and snaps to attention where and only as commanded. Buy without hesitation and if you sense any issues, phone home to the Magpul mothership ASAP.

Below is my original 2 star review retained here for historical, cautionary, and amusement purposes only.

I really wanted to love this MBUS Pro, but it won't, or maybe even can't attach tight enough to the rail.

One side of the base is an immovable rail grab. The other side is 2/3s immovable rail grab and 1/3 adjustable. That results in a slight twisting of the sight when mounted. But the real deal killer is that the sight actually rotates back and forth slightly. I tried I it on several rail locations on two different guns and had the same result everywhere.

At first, I wondered if I got a counterfeit one, but this one has all the markings including a cage number, number in a circle, and a magpul inscribed screw head. It also had the nice packaging I'd seen pictures of online.

I was ready to call magpul to see if I got a dud, but looking closely at the design of the mount base, unless the rail fits so tightly into the immovable sections of the rail grab, this sight cannot be straight or snug. It basically tightens on only one small portion of the rail.

This is just a guess but the base design of the Pro is similar to the polymer MBUS (which I also have plenty of experience with). The base of both types of sights is roughy square. On the MBUS, the polymer fits quite snuggly on the rail prior to tightening due to the elasticity of the plastic combined with being slightly narrower than the rail width. However, the non-moving rail grabbing edges on the metal Pro cannot be narrower or it would not fit at all. So the corner of the square that is adjustable does two things. First, it locks in a rotation point that the sight moves around, and second it clamps the rail tighter than the rest of the sight base meaning its tiny rail footprint is all that is holding the sight secure.

On the polymer MBUS, the initial inserting of the tight fit is already much stronger, and then the larger footprint of moving rail grab tightens it even more restricting all motion and rotation.

The guess here is that a design that works with a tight fitting polymer does not successfully transfer to a metal design. Instead, the Pro should have either give the adjustable rail grab a much larger rail footprint, or placed it in the middle of the sight instead of the corner, or even make two adjustable grabs to torque the square holding it perfectly centered and above all perfectly still.

Other than that, this is a great sight of superb build quality and function.

I knew that being an early adopter of this sight would be a risk. It was. I'll give it another try when the Gen 2 version of this sight comes out.

Magpul's foray into metal BUIS is a work in progress. They absolutely nailed the form and function. Now they just need to find a way to nail the sight to the rifle.

I find Magpul products to be very well made. I feel the metal MBUS Pro sights will stand the test of time. Kind of a one and done type of deal. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but they are well built. I'm replacing all my plastic backup sights with these sights. But then again, it's always what works best for you.

Hi guys, after using these Iron sights extensively, I would like to give my input to help others.

I have this paired with the MBUS Pro LR Adjustable Rear Sight. These iron sights are some of the most accurate sights I've ever used. The front sight post on this sight is slightly slimmer than a regular A2 front sight post that comes on the standard AR. I feel that I can shoot more accurately with a slimmer front sight post because it doesn't cover the target as much. This is just my opinion though, others may not feel the same way, just because it's slimmer doesn't mean it's more accurate, it's more of a user preference. The best part about these sights, there's no need for any tools to adjust them which is just plain awesome and It has positive, sturdy adjustments.

The build is very quality, EXTREMELY low profile and has a nice protective finish. It doesn't require any buttons to deploy or put back down which makes it much more simple and faster to use, but it's not as secure as other sights that have a locking system that keeps them deployed.

With all that being said I chose these as my primary back-up sights and currently run these on my rifle over my troy battlesights which I really love. I just feel more accurate with these sights and they're very low profile and slim. I'll end this review with a few photos to give you guys an idea of the sight picture and how they look like on a rifle.

I held out spending the money on this forever...but my 1rst ar that I bought in the mid 2000s has a fixed front sight so I had a poly rear sight on it forever but I just put a shiny new mro on it and thought this piece of plastic trash just will not do so I broke down and ordered this and I wish I bought it along time ago..the look and quality of this sight is so nice.. and it takes up alot less space than the plastic one.
