While on a covert mission in Syria, CIA special operator David Rivers has just discovered the enemy’s newest target…his own family.

"Jason Kasper is a name to watch in the thriller world." ―Mark Greaney, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of The Gray Man

David Rivers is an elite-level assassin. A veteran operator who has served as a Ranger, a mercenary, and now as a CIA contractor conducting covert action around the world.

In his secluded mountain home in Virginia, however, David Rivers lives the quiet life of a family man. His cover legend is so strong that even his wife doesn’t know the true nature of his work.

Half a world away, on a mission to assassinate a foreign operative, Rivers uncovers intelligence pointing to an imminent attack on US soil. Now he must hunt down the terrorists before it’s too late.

But there was something impossibly chilling about this particular intel.

The target is in his hometown...

...and David Rivers’ wife and daughter are mentioned by name.

Riveting Story. Truly enjoyed this latest installment of this David Rivers Series
As a longtime fan of the whole line of David Rivers stories, I felt that maybe the story line had run it's course. Jason Kasper had developed a couple of new series and directions. I was glad to learn that David Rivers was back with a new series.I'm not sure what magic (Bourbon) sparked in the authors imagination but the excitement started at the very beginning of the book an ran me ragged through the twists and turns on as the story developed. We (the reader) got to experience a renewed commitment to overcoming the challenges brought forward in the story line. I surely didn't expect that the back story for the characters would be so enrichened as well.To say I'm a fan of Jason Kasper's stories should be obvious, and to that end I highly recommend this latest David Rivers saga. If you've not experienced any of the earlier offerings I can highly recommend starting with book 1 and work your way through. Warning though expect some sleepless nights because your won't want to put it down until you've finished the offering. Enjoy

Book Review – “The Enemies of My Country” by Author Jason Kasper is a story that takes readers on a journey across various continents as David Rivers, a former Army Ranger, mercenary, and now a CIA contractor, and his team chase after a terrorist looking to cause havoc in the Homeland. The narrative immediately drew me in with its non-stop action, suspense, and plot twists. The storyline was edge of the seat exciting and very engaging. The fight scenes and gun battles were well written and believable. Kasper’s writing skill in the ‘first person’ had me feeling like I personally was in the story. It was very well done! Although full of scheming and anticipation, once a thread within the storyline was pulled there were no surprises. Kasper utilized solid technical knowledge to make the story a thrilling, action packed tale. The remarkable character development also draws readers into liking the supporting characters; each could probably have their own series. Overall, The Enemies of My Country is a good action thriller read. I like the main character David Rivers and enjoyed the story. This was my first Jason Kasper book and definitely not my last.

I will lead this review by saying Jason is one of few authors whose books I always preorder. There’s no question in my mind that his next book (and the next, and the next, etc.) will be well worth reading! He has never let me down once - his books are always action-packed and thrilling, but also have a sometimes surprising very human aspect to them as well. In this book, David Rivers is in it up to his eyeballs again but this time his wife and daughter are also involved, and it was very interesting to see the lengths he would go to in ensuring the safety of the ones closest to him. There’s a lot of banter between David and his crew but also a real sense of brotherhood and love evident. As always Jason fleshes out the story wonderfully and characters are deep and richly developed. All in all another excellent chapter in the David Rivers saga.

On a side note I believe there’s a lot of Jason Kasper in David Rivers, which is just one reason I look forward to seeing what comes next. I feel as if Jason is truly bearing his soul through the written word and that can be rare nowadays and isn’t something to be taken lightly!

In closing I obviously recommend this book highly, giving it a 10/10. In the market for something different but still well written and highly entertaining? I also implore you to check out his Blair Morgan series as well as the stand-alone thriller “Her Dark Silence.” Everything from Jason is first rate and worth the time spent reading. After the first few pages, you’ll be hooked, regardless of which Jason Kasper book you’re delving into!!

I’ve now read several Jason Casper novels and think they’re very good. They usually take you on a chase that is remotely related to the cause. However, they eventually get back on track with a lot of thrilling action.

Jason Kasper's best book. It's a sequel to his previous "American Mercenary" series, but it stands on its own you don't need to have read that series to understand this book. Unlike the "American Mercenary" series, with some of its more surreal and unlikely elements, "Enemies of My Country" is firmly rooted in reality and is a more conventional action thriller in the mold of Flynn and Thor, but far superior, better written and way more realistic. The portrayal of a CIA hit team, the tactics and politics surrounding such a team, feel real and authentic, but that's just a bonus for those who enjoy that type of thing. The characters and dialogue are especially well done and are what keep the pages turning.

Oh, and speaking of the aforementioned Flynn and Thor, Kapser makes a hilarious Mitch Rapp reference that calls out one of the most ridiculous tropes of this genre that unfortunately persists to this day. Thankfully, it does not appear that David Rivers will be on a first name basis with POTUS anytime soon.

Kasper's writing is grounded and believable, and that makes the story a far more immersive experience. This book is one of those gems that I cannot praise enough.

Was sagte doch gleich Suicide, "Some people just need to get shot in the f****** face." Dem ist nichts mehr hinzuzufügen.
Vielen Dank für diese wunderbare kurzweilige Lesevergnügen.

Jason has delivered an exciting fast moving story with David Rivers as the lead character keeping his readers in absolute suspense and feeling so frustrated for David, Duchess, and the team in searching for and locating BK before he carries out devastating damage, and it is not until the very end of the story that we learn the absolute outcome. Great writing and enjoyable read.
