The result? You’ll be able to hear all the details that other speakers fail to deliver.
Together with its game-changing tri-amplified design with a total output of 75RMS/150W, the Katana truly is most powerful in its class.#SetupGoals are now achievable with the Katana. First and foremost, the sound quality is outstanding. The Katana V2 produces rich and immersive audio with remarkable clarity across all frequencies. Whether you're listening to music, watching movies, or playing games, the soundbar delivers an impressive audio experience. The mids and highs are crisp and well-defined, while the bass response is deep and punchy, adding a whole new dimension to the overall sound.
Speaking of bass, the Katana V2 truly excels in this department. The included subwoofer packs a surprising punch, delivering deep, rumbling bass that adds depth and impact to any audio content. Whether it's explosions in action movies or the thumping beats in your favorite songs, the bass response is truly impressive, yet it remains tight and controlled.
One of the standout features of this soundbar is its value for the price. Considering its exceptional sound quality, build, and feature set, the Katana V2 offers incredible value. Compared to other soundbars in its price range, the Katana V2 outperforms them easily, providing a premium audio experience without breaking the bank.
The design of the Katana V2 is sleek and modern, perfectly complementing any home entertainment setup. The RGB lighting adds a touch of flair, and the overall build quality is excellent. The soundbar is also compact and doesn't take up much space, making it ideal for small to medium-sized rooms.
Setting up the Katana V2 was a breeze. It offers multiple connectivity options, including Bluetooth, USB, and optical, allowing you to connect it to various devices effortlessly. The included remote control is intuitive and easy to use, giving you full control over the soundbar's settings.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a soundbar that offers exceptional sound quality, deep bass, and great value for the price, the Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2 RGB is the perfect choice. Its immersive audio experience, stylish design, and affordable price make it a standout option in the market. I highly recommend it to anyone in search of an upgrade to their home audio setup.
My goal with purchasing a new sound system for my computer was to maximize the value and minimize the cost. From my research, this particular model does its job amazingly well, and at the refurbished price, it cannot be beat. It is a bit older, of course, so it does not have any HDMI capability but the optical input works perfectly well. The build quality is also insanely good. The housing on the sound bar itself is metal, the lighting looks incredible, and the remote is a very nice touch. It also gets super loud. I have the volume sitting at 5 right now, and that is probably pushing it if anyone else is home.
As has been mentioned elsewhere, you do need to connect via the USB cable to update the firmware which is an incredibly simple process. The only trick with this, and this was more on me, is that I had to update my BIOS to the most current version in order to get the SPDIF out signal from the AE5-Plus to work correctly with this sound bar. But once I got that figured out, holy cow did this change my life. I have never heard audio on this level. I am by no means an audiophile and I also never leave reviews for anything anywhere, but this product has been absolutely life-changing for me.
I use the Sound Blaster Command application that controls my AE5-Plus to manage the output, not the Creative App, just to be clear. Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially at the refurbished price.
WELL... things have changed. Gaming speakers have died down back to 2.1. Most people use headsets with virtualized 7.1 sound. No one wants and not many manufacturers are offering multiple surround sound speaker setups anymore. To be honest my speaker setup was super cumbersome and space consuming. I never got a great experience from surround sound gaming. Maybe it was the games I played or my setup. The other thing is that over the past decade while I kept the same speakers and computer system, I had to upgrade my sound card multiple times!!! Why? Hardware-wise they all worked PERFECTLY!! All are in great condition. So WHY? Simple.. DRIVER support. I had my sound cards for so long that Creative EOL'd driver support especially when Win10 came out and again for Win11. As to why? Probably cost. But it was insane to have to buy a NEW sound card just so I am able to use it with a modern OS just because it had supported drivers. I was limping along using old version of Sound Blaster drivers that I had to search the internet for and keep a copy of on hand for my old SB Recon3D Fatal1ty (the 3rd card I had to buy). Every so often a Windows Update would happen and my sound would go out. Then I would reinstall this old driver just to get it back. It was a great card that I would still use if I could but it's getting tough. I almost considered getting the next Sound Blaster card that's out now - AE5 or AE7. Old habits are hard to kill. But I'm tired of this ride spending $$$ for drivers. It's a pain and sometimes painfully annoying. It's expensive in the long run. It's a waste of time. Both my parent's and in-laws computers went to simple USB audio because of drivers. It was not worth getting sound cards when in a few years, all of a sudden, their sound won't work. BTW, the story isn't different or better for onboard audio either. It's actually worse.
To really avoid this nonsense... going to USB based audio is the best way as it doesn't require drivers for sound to work. There are two main options: DAC/AMP OR USB speaker/DAC/AMP all in one. The DAC/AMP route is primarily for headset or standard stereo speakers. Typically they don't have any surround sound or effects for gaming. Most people use studio monitors, etc. Don't get me wrong there "are" some DAC/AMP that have special audio for gaming but they are specialized and expensive. None of these would work with my current Logitech's without adapters. I wanted something simple but good. I'm not an audiophile or anything.
I knew about the original SB Katana years ago and wanted to get one but it was pricey. Then recently it came up for consideration but now there's a V2 which is better (and more expensive). As of this writing, the SB Katana V2 was only available from Creative. All that was readily available was the V2X. Reviews were positive for the V2X and the main difference being lower RMS/Peak power and a smaller sub. All this meant to me is that it's not as loud as the V2. Alot of people almost say the V2 was "too" loud. They never went above level 10-15 volume (the high is 50). I have a small office setup. This isn't for a home theater or anything and decided to go with the V2X for $50 cheaper. It wasn't worth paying extra for something I won't likely take advantage of. My goal was to get something better than what I have. The Logitech weren't great speakers only 90W RMS. The audio was mostly muddy and bass heavy. Sometimes the dialogue in games or movies was hard to hear. The Katana V2x gave me an all-in-one solution, which included DAC/AMP for headsets if I wanted to go that route. I like the fact I have options for both audio modes. I have also added options to connect like Bluetooth, HDMI, optical, and AUX. I also like how I'm saving quite a bit of desk and office space with just the sound bar and sub. It's pretty amazing of what this smaller setup can generate. The RGB is nice but don't care too much for it. It's subtle. There is added Creative software to provide extra stuff like EQ and sound profiles. The best thing is that it all connects via USB. No drivers are required at all.
Other cool thing is that because it's USB, I can plug it into a KVM and use one audio setup for multiple computers!! With the old sound card and speaker setup... it can only be dedicated to one computer. Overall, it became an excellent audio solution for me the more I use and adapt to my setup.
I do feel this is a niche product for people with specific constraints on space or setups. It is pricey given you can get a nice DAC/AMP for much less and get excellent sound, as good or better. While I was trying to figure out a way to re-use my perfectly working 5.1 speakers, I had to give them up because the sound card (or onboard audio) was the only way I could use the speakers. :( But I'm sure in the long run, this will be worth it.
So I guess in the end Creative still keeps my business but sadly, I'm giving up on sound cards for good. It's the end of an era. Sound cards are a dying breed, it seems. There used to be a few other vendors that competed like ASUS. Sound Blaster started it all and it looks like they will end with it all.

This little sound bar kicks ass , super clear , bass is great . Rgb looks amazing and fits right under my monitor and blends into the setup .so worth it
