Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes anothe STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis - with explosive results.

Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project - a literal dream come true - Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school - archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

But when her equipment starts to go missing and the staff ignore her, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas... devouring her with those eyes. The possibilities have all her neurons firing.

But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

"Hopelessly, brilliantly, wonderfully romantic. I loved it even more than The Love Hypothesis, and I didn't think that was possible." (Cressida McLaughlin)

I wanted to scream

I wanted to SCREAM while reading this and then listening to it. the second they mention anonymous twitter pals and then her wearing her grans wedding ring you just know the rest of the book is full of miscommunication tropes . super annoying!!

but the romance parts were cute and I like the science. and I just really feel bad for levi the guy needs a hug and a slap!

Just not as good as The Love Hypotheses

Let me start by saying that I was really looking forward to this book after listening to The Love Hypothesis - I even preordered it but oh man, sounds mean but I was glad when it finished. Bee is so unlikeable compared to Levi. He’s a sweetheart and honestly I don’t think Bee deserves him. The whole thing ‘will it fit’ oh come on, surprise surprise it did fit (eye roll)

The whole thing was so predictable, this one wasn’t for me unfortunately. Ali Hazelwood set the expeditions too high with The love Hypothesis and this one just didn’t do it for me. Having said that, I will be listening to anything else she writes in hope that maybe Olive comes back? She was a hoot.

Easy; predictable

Not as good as The Love Hypothesis but a nice easy listen for a beach read! Voices brilliant; a great narrator

Cringe through and through

Performance was great I can't blame the narration for the material they had to work with. story is boring and the scenes that are supposedly sexy are just pure cringe

Disappointing installment

The Love Hypothesis was fantastic. Love on the Brain felt like a weaker version where the author shoved her personal views down our throats.
Did you know the mc is vegan? Are you sure? I think there were a few pages where it wasn't mentioned.
She also is hypocritical - women's rights, but often needs rescuing by a man and, 'I'll happily let him pay until equal pay.' Doing that is exacerbating the situation!
There is no respect for differing opinions from her own, they are 'wrong opinions.' Supposedly a scientist who doesn't understand that an opinion is just that; it can't be 'wrong.'

Ali why did you have to mess with a good formula?

I really enjoyed the Love Hypothesis. it was fun and frothy.
The first thing that got me is that this is written in the present tense. This is a totally personal pet peeve of mine anyway, but I couldn't get passed it here. which makes me more angry because I liked Bee's character (except for one point) and Reike is a hoot, and I really wanted to like this book.
The second thing is that over and over again Bee tells Levi he hates her, you know what after the 20th time I would have hated her on principle! Honestly it's ridiculous, and it undermines her character.
However I do love the narration, Brooke Bloomingdale is fabulous, her accent are diverse and she gives each person a sense of individuality

Gorgeously lush and delicious

Gosh, just when I thought my love for romcoms (thanks to Love Hypothesis) could not get any deeper, Ali Hazelwood gifts us with this gem of a book!

I loved every moment! The characters, the interesting science, the enemies to lovers vibes, the awkwardness and the chemistry. Mostly, I adored Bee and Levi (even more than Olive and Adam). The characters are so much more dynamic and fun! Bee is a science genius with a quirky personality, obsession with Marie Curie, a vegan with bright hair, piercings and love for cats! She’s totally relatable and absolutely lovable!
Then there’s her fellow science genius/ arch-nemesis: the broody, tall, dark, handsome and literally swoon-worthy Levi! They are perfect together (despite being oblivious to the fact). And they both come with such an intriguing history together. I enjoyed how the two characters interacted throughout and how the story flowed so well around their personalities.

I liked that the book has a similar vibe to The Love Hypothesis (both standalones) while also feeling distinct and unique. It is also, steamier than The Love Hypothesis, but still has that slow burn romance. The whole book is low angst but friction-filled, with enemies to lovers vibes and so much gorgeous sexual tension. It really is a beautiful, feel-good romcom.

Love on the Brain

For such a smart woman, Bee is very emotionally unintelligent! Other than that, it was a fun listen on audiobook, lots of cringey romance with a few endearing scenes in between.

Perfectly decent

Very similar to the love hypothesis. Easy to listen to, made me laugh out loud a few times. It got ridiculous how often she would cry, but not realise she was crying, or how, for an intelligent woman, she held on to the "he hates me" trope. But overall, it was a comfortable retreat from the real world.

sighs in single

listin. it was cute. it was very cringe at times but what rom-com isn't? the spice was well written and surprising the least cringy part of the story. I liked the plot and characters very much. it was so cute and the tropes were well executed so I have nothing to complain about. if you feel like giggling and rolling your eyes at the same time, while biting your fist and wiping away a tear and cursing the patriarchy then I suggest listening to this story.
