Good unit, great value, two negatives

Good unit, great value, two negatives
People complained about the blinking blue LED. On mine it’s orange so no problem. But, the unit draws 120 ma with a 9V input, and the LED blinks at about 7.2V. Trying to run the unit on a 9V alkaline battery should be only an emergency measure, since a 9V alkaline battery under that current drain will last 3 hours at best. So I ran mine on a power supply. The unit has the characteristic that if you power it off with the reverb ON, that when you power it up again the reverb will be ON, i.e. it does not reset to no reverb unless you press the pedal.I measured the smoothness of the reverb, both with the tone control at ‘high’ and ‘low’. The graphs show the results. Basically, HALL is the flattest (+/- 3dB) from 20 Hz to 18 KHz, followed by PLATE which has more high frequency roll off (flat to 10 KHz, down 6 dB at 18 KHz), followed by SPRING (flat to 2500Hz, down 12 dB at 18 KHz), all measured with flat white noise input and tone at high. The tone control at the low setting attenuates the highest frequencies by about 20 dB. In between is intermediate high frequency roll off.I also measured the phase between the two outputs. It varied randomly, being all phases over time with respect to each other. This is good!I also measured a 30 millisecond latency delay between the input and output signals. This corresponds to about a 1/64th note at 120 BPM (for a ¼ note). That BPM is a typical tempo for a normal song. So, if you have an excellent guitar, and excellent amp, and good ears then you might notice the delay between the start of the note and when the reverb starts. The reverb decay time at the short setting is about 0.3 second, and at the long setting is about1 second. See the graphs! So I give this unit 4 stars, deducting one star for the power supply draw and the 30 ms latency delay. But the price is very reasonable considering the performance, especially the flat reverb response in the HALL mode.

This is a great sounding reverb for the price you can't beat it. Alot of people knock Behinger pedals because of the plastic housing. I have 3 other Behinger pedals for years now and have had no issues with them at all. The Behinger reverb does exactly what I need it to do for the fraction of the price compared to the name brand pedals. I will admit I'm a Boss pedal fan have several but I needed another reverb and I'm glad I bought this one. I like the fact that it has the stereo feature as that is how I have my set up. I would not hesitate to buy another Behinger pedal when needed.
