About this item
- The Viper HS 2. 5-10x44 is one of multiple configurations in the Viper HS (Hunting & Shooting) line. The Dead-Hold BDC reticle is good for any hunting or shooting at varying ranges where estimating hold-over would be a concern.
- In the advanced optical system, the XD glass renders an image that is sharp and clear from edge to edge. There are XR multi-coated lenses allowing you to capture the most light from dawn til dusk. The 4x zoom range will pull you close to your target.
- Featuring capped quick-reset turrets you will be able to quickly reindex your zero after sighting in. They're built on a 30mm main tube which increases the amount of elevation and windage travel for optimal adjustment.
- Ultra-hard, scratch resistant Armortek coatings protect the exterior lenses of the scope. Argon purging provides fogproof and waterproof performance. The hard-anodized matte black finish is extremely durable and looks awesome too.
- Whether hunting whitetail in the midwest or elk in the Rockies, the Viper HS is designed to be your all around workhorse optic.

Dead-Hold BDC MOA Reticle
- Customized hashmark design helps eliminate guesswork on holdover and windage corrections. Good for hunting/shooting at varying ranges where estimating holdover is a concern.
- Second focal plane (SFP) reticles are located near the scope’s eyepiece behind the image erecting and magnifying lenses. This style of reticle does not visually change in size when you change the magnification. The advantage of an SFP reticle is that it always maintains the same appearance. Listed reticle subtensions used for estimating range, holdover, and wind drift correction are only accurate at one particular magnification.

The form factor of this scope, along with great glass, is a big selling point for me. It's12" long and weighs (I believe) about 16oz. That's pretty darn compact for a 2-10x44. The 44mm objective lens is a compromise between compactness and light gathering, and you do get a pretty tight eye box at 10x, which is to be expected given a 4.4(ish)mm exit pupil. The eye relief is fully restored going down to 8x or 9x so not a big deal, and my dial lives in the 4-8 range. The reticle is quite nice as well. I'm not a fan of the super complicated tactical reticles that seem to be getting harder and harder to avoid, but this one isn't obtrusive or cluttered at all. The crosshairs are very thin and I appreciate the lightness of center cross hairs, even with the dots. My favorite reticle is the German 4A and this comes quite close-- having a nice open area in the middle with lines that can still be seen in the twilight minutes.
The turrets click smartly, the tube is 30mm, the coating seems pretty tough, and a lifetime warranty. Really, for the money, it's hard to go wrong with this scope. It's a standout in the Vortex line where most below are kind of cheap and most above are really heavy, long, or expensive.
I would like to make a statement regarding Vortex's customer service, because it was a key factor in buying this scope. They are beyond amazing. First of all, they are in the US AND they speak english. not anguish or broken engrish but E N G L I S H. They respond promptly and work to rectify any problem with their product, however slight. As an example, I bought this scope off Amazon and the vendor sent the wrong scope and another vendor sent the wrong throwlever. Neither problem was caused by or was even related to Vortex at all. Do you know what they did? They swapped out both units for the correct ones: because the vendors told me to deal with the mfg not them. To the vendors I say, "go screw" and I will never deal with you ever again BUTto Vortex, you have won a lifetime customer and I already own two scopes with related accessories.
I don't recommend the flips caps though. They come off too easily.
