Wow. I just finished the third Madison Fox installment, and I just want more! I am so impressed with this author. Her stories suck me right in, and have action and heartache and laughs and a heroine that I would love to meet. Madison seems so darn real - she's normally just trying to get through the day as best she can, and is not some all-knowing superhero. The idea behind the stories is a very interesting twist on good vs. unseen evil, and the plot lines are wild and twisting and yet completely believable. For anyone who enjoys fantasy, this author is a keeper. I've read the first two Gargoyle books also, and they are as consistently wonderful as the Madison Fox stories. I'll be getting these books in paperback as well and putting them on my bookshelf next to Bujold and McKinley - that's how much I love these books! Enjoy!

I've been eagerly awaiting this book and it did not disappoint! I devoured it in one evening and can't wait to find out what the author has in store next for Madison and company. It's insane what Madison has had to deal with (much to our entertainment and sympathy!) in such a short period of time (talk about trial by fire! Or, well, frost in this case ;) ). Amid dealing with frost moth outbreak and sjel tyver creatures in this book, Madison and Jamie's bond and friendship are tested and really put through the ringer courtesy of the new inspector. It was frustrating and heartbreaking to watch, but I think their bond and friendship will come out so much stronger after the events in this book. Hopefully Madison will have a little more down time before the next disaster hits (girl only had a two day breather from the crazy events in the last book to the frost moth/sjel creature outbreak and inspection from hell events in this book). Niko even expresses concern about burnout and I completely agree. I love the characters in this series (glad Dr. Alex Love got a little more screen time! And was happy to see Doris again [she cracks me up!]. Of course, loved the scenes with Niko - I like that he respects Madison and helps her without condescension or derision given her lack of experience). In terms of romance, I like Alex as the love interest, but I'm really rooting for another character in the romantic department where Madison doesn't have to keep hiding what she does for a living. The novel opens the possibility of this second love interest (though please no love triangles!).

In short, I highly recommend this book and series (great job, Ms. Chastain!) No cliffhangers (each book completes its story arc, but leaves room for more). If you're just starting, you will definitely want to start with book one. Books two and three do not provide back-story (which I like), but makes it difficult to just pick up and not be lost.

OK I'm finally a fan. Each book got better and better. They should be read in order as they start where the last book ended with no cliff hangers. I could not put this book down as it focuses on Jamie's and Madison's bond with each other that formed in the second book. (It isn't sexual in the least. ) Jamie is a pooka who has duel soul energies of both lux lucis (good) and atrum (evil). He chose to bond with Madison when he was born out of the earth and there is a question on whether he chooses good or evil to live his life by. There is a rift in their relationship and the dangerous possibility of him going rogue and turning Madison to evil with him. Madison is an enforcer able to see creatures of atrum whose job it is to keep her region clear of them. She's grown on me as she doesn't know everything, but tries her best and is compassionate toward others. As powerful as Jamie is, he has only been on the earth for less than a month and there is a child like innocence in his thinking. There is the danger of frost moths, drones and the sjel tyv that threaten the region, but this book is primarily about Jamie and Madison's bond. Again I think Dr. Love, a human, should be dropped as he doesn't know about Madison's real life leading her to frequently lie to him , especially when it seems there is the possibility of something developing between Nico and Madison and having Madison attracted to both men isn't appealing. Val is a creative gem. Who knew a sentient book with attitude would care to pick out a tree topper? Read free with my KU, but liked it so much that I bought it. Looking forward to the next book.

I read all 3 books plus A Fistful of Flirtations and A Fistful of Frost was my favorite if I am forced to choose a favorite, which is next to impossible since they were all wonderful. A Fistful of Frost had more high and low emotions and kept you constantly angry at Pamela while biting your nails waiting for the next little bit of payback Madison gives her because we all know Madison always comes out on top no matter what. I loved this series and all of the characters, it was a fantastic storyline storyline and I can't wait for next book to come out.

The books kept getting better, with 'A Fistful of Frost' being an equal to 'A Fistful of Fire', but on the darker side. Madison has everything to lose now, specifically with Jamie; her reputation, her career, her boss's chance at what he had before, and most importantly her life. There's a lot of negativity surrounding Madison, most of it in the form of the CIA inspector who is hard on Madison to give up on Jamie and accept that Madison is not up to the challenge of being an Enforcer. And things really aren't going Madison's way, not one bit. Not after having Jamie rebel and run away. Well written, great dialogue as always. Highly recommend this series to anyone into the genre.
