Fairy Tales are very literal survival guides. Ignore them at your peril…

Nate Temple has gotten away with a lot in recent years: cow-tipping the Minotaur, decimating a gang of weredragons, sucker-punching Angels, and eating pancakes with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He’s kidnapped one of the most powerful wizards on the planet and slaughtered the Brothers Grimm. Lady Luck has been very good to Nate Temple…

Until now.

Nate's good fortune has turned, catching the attention of a recruiter—the kind of person who offers jobs that can’t be refused…

The kind of job that comes with perks like selling your soul to your new employer. That’s when a wizard tastes real fear—when he learns that all the biggest, baddest monsters actually work for the same guy—and they do so against their will.

Silver Tongue…The nightmare everyone both knows, and doesn't know…

Lady Luck better have one more good toss of the dice for Nate, or this will be the last game he ever plays. Unless…he can find a way to cheat the House.

If you like Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, Steve McHugh, Michael Anderle, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Shannon Mayer, or K.F. Breene, you won't be able to put down the highly addictive Nate Temple Series.

“Shayne Silvers, Jim Butcher, and Kevin Hearne are easily my favorite Urban Fantasy Authors. In that order.” — Michael Anderle, Amazon Top 25 Bestselling Author

Shayne is a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery…

He writes the Amazon Bestselling Feathers and Fire Series about a rookie spell-slinger named Callie Penrose who works for the Vatican in Kansas City. Her problem? Hell seems to know more about her past than she does.

He also writes the Amazon Bestselling Nate Temple Series, which features a foul-mouthed wizard from St. Louis. He rides a bloodthirsty unicorn, drinks with Achilles, and is pals with the Four Horsemen. Both series take place in the same universe, because it’s fun.

Shayne holds two high-ranking black belts, and can be found writing in a coffee shop, cackling madly into his computer screen while pounding shots of espresso. He’s hard at work on the latest books in his shared TempleVerse, as well as a few new projects that will blow readers' mind-holes...

Nate saves the day, and other things
Unfortunately, I skipped the intervening book in this series. The good part is, this book answered many questions about the previous book, although as I was reading through the book I didn't realize it. Anyway, it is questionable whether I'll go back and read book 2, or simply wait for book 4. Silvertounge had many good and interesting parts, and some not so good, uninterested parts. In fact I quit reading the book for over a month, and didn't experience any withdrawal pains. But, I finished the book and it was quiet enjoyable. Nate Temple is up to old and new tricks, and tries to be nice to his friends. Unfortunately, niceness isn't always the best answer. The bad guy in the book is truly despicable. And of course, the end of the book is not the end. A romping good ride if you can stick with it.

Wow, what a thrill! Nate Temple is back for an all-new adventure, and I have to say this book is the best so far! Nate and Indie are both trying to learn about, and deal with, their respective new powers. Indie is having such control problems with her powers that she can't be with Nate as he has to deal with the mayhem that seems to permeate his life, even when he tries not to involve himself in anything. This book was full of non-stop action, wonderful characterizations, and great writing, as is displayed in all of the books so far. I do have to say that I feel so sorry for Plato's Cave; can't the store catch a break? And, oh, my, the ending. Didn't see either of those things coming! One made me a little upset (why did she do that?!?) and one amazed me (you never know about family)! Are you wondering what I'm talking about? Pick up this book and read it to find out! You don't have to read the ones that came before this one to enjoy the books quite a bit, but I do believe you would miss out on quite a few things if you aren't in the know. As I said above, all the books are wonderful so just go ahead and read them all. Can't say enough good things about this book and series. Highly recommend!

The writing is good. And the book is action-packed. But I have to admit to being somewhat confused about the plot.

After the ravages to his business and his friends done in Grimm Nate Temple has been forced to rebuild his bookstore, Plato’s Cave, to generate some income for himself. And he is back to buying rare books with magical implications for mystery clients. And apparently, he never got over his tendency toward devious dealings regarding these books. Also, the mysterious clients and their competitors for the possession of these books continue to pose a serious threat to Nate and his friends; they are seldom open and above board in their dealings either.

The confusing thing this time is that there appear to be three or four different books in play this time. It isn’t clear until the end which book is causing so much trouble – and I already forgot. But, as I said, there are at least two or three others confusing the issue as well.

Once again there is a host of characters from myth, legend, and fairy-tale tangling with each other. We have most of the characters from the previous books that haven’t already died, and some that have, plus a few new ones, notably the famous Russian witch, Baba Yaga. The main evil genius of this story is a demon called Silver Tongue – only, as so often happens with these things, it turns out he is not who he seems either.

The girls in Nate’s entourage are starting to come into their own. They have always been beautiful and intelligent (even if this last trait was rather glossed over in the early books of the series), but since their encounter with the Grimms in the previous book, they have acquired serious magical powers of their own. Nate’s girlfriend, Indie, and his former business manager, Ashley, who is now engaged to his best friend, the werewolf Gunnar, are still having some trouble controlling their new powers. But one is left with the impression that when they learn what they are doing, they will leave Nate in the dust. And Tory, who has always possessed supernatural strength but was so easily swayed to silliness in the first book of the series, can now stop bullets and other weapons cold and nullify magical attacks from some of the worst in the business. These girls are no longer just eye-candy.

This is the 4th book in the Nate Temple series. Man, what a ride this series has been for me. I can't say I was a fan of the first book. As a matter of fact I told the author just what I thought on his Facebook page. I'm so glad he was gracious enough to stand my opinion and encourage me to finish that first book. This has been the best series I have read this year. This book, the 4th, has been the best of the group on top of all that.

These characters are so well loved and developed by the author. His story telling is very good and so enjoyable. There have been many times I think I know where it is going and he surprises me. That just doesn't happen much anymore. This book was the best because it made me laugh, cry, surprised me, pissed me off and overall made it hard to put down. Who can't love books that do that for you.

I would strongly suggest you take the time to catch up, if you aren't already with the other Nate Temple books. It will make this one so much easier to follow and enjoy. You can certainly read it independent of the others, in my opinion, it's 100 times better with the knowledge of the others first. You truly will enjoy this book if you give it and the series a chance.

Another great book in the Nate Temple series!

Once again, the sh**t has hit the fan, and Nate is right in the middle of it. Another book is wanted by too many people, and they are going to hunt Nate down to get it. But... he doesn't have it, doesn't know what it is, or even where it is.

Things are happening with Indie and Tory... interesting things directly related to the events that happened at the end of Grimm. Nate is struggling to help them, all while trying to keep one step ahead of those hunting him. Meanwhile, Gunnar is leading his own life with his pack and Ashley, who's trying to take control of her newfound werewolfness. He's trying to keep that life separate, but Nate's usual bad luck keeps bringing Gunnar into Nate's problems.

But ultimately, Nate's friends, old and new, all come to help him in the end... and there are a few surprises as well.

Great book, as always. I'm seconds away from starting the next one.

The story, plot, and pacing were good. A few new players are introduced and older characters are developed. My only criticism is that there was excessive repetition of previously mentioned information and summary of the story from prior books. This book was a good addition to the Temple saga. I will read the next in line.😁

Ladies and gentlemen. In this corner we have Nate Temple, the Maker, the wizard... Aaaaaand in the other corner we have EVERY BLOODY BAD GUY known to mankind. I'm in love. (Batting my eyelashes) I have often found myself scratching my head, thinking, 'whaaaaat'? Then eagerly reading until my eyes are blurry from non-stop staring at my kindle. It's worth the discomfort. Anyway. As the title reads, this is the 4th book in the series and I have to say I'm completely hooked. There are too many characters to dissect right at this moment in time, but something tells me that Shayne will eventually enlighten us with their stories. I'm a betting man -er... woman, so I'm not going to stress over that. Instead, if you are like moe, then you will definitely smile as you sit back and enjoy the next book. Psst... Here's a pack of wet wipes for Nate. He has a tenancy to step in things. 😂

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic series that should be on your 'must read' pile.

Never ever a dull, nor boring moment when Nate Temple is around, much as he would wish it otherwise, he's definitely a beacon for chaos and this adventure is certainly no exception.

Wonderfully vivid characters, even the supposed mythological ones!

Never lacking in action. It's also rife with wry humour, great camaraderie between the characters and a darn fun read.

More puzzles thrown up, more intrigue and new characters pop up at the most awkward of times for poor old Nate.

A really enjoyable, addictive urban fantasy series that just seems to get better and better with each book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Nate Temple escapade
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 2, 2016
Nate Temple has amazing potential as a Maker but he also has his flaws which is just one of the things that makes him so readable. He has a wicked, some might call it snarky, sense of humour that'll have you laughing out loud. Silver Tongue is the 4th full length book in the series, (Obsidian Son is the first book in the series if you're new to it) which gives even more depth to his network of weird and great friends, family, foes and frenemies both known and new. These guys come from such a variety of origins with their own spin on alternative back stories that make you want to continue finding out more. If anyone can talk himself out of, or into, anything it's Nate but there are no guarantees as to whether it'll turn out to be good or bad from this Maker's point of view.
