Top review from the United States

First, the author, Kathleen Morgan, knows how to write unobtrusively. Her writing is smooth and wonderfully straightforward which allows the reader to sink in without struggling to understand. No flowery, irritatingly superfluous gobbledygook to have to interpret. Another plus was the editing: I didn't even spot a single typo, which is rare.

More importantly, the historical setting of Romans conquering Celts is interesting for a romance. Normally I dislike stories where the main characters can't and don't get along until the very last pages. Admittedly that happens in this story of horrific wartime cruelties, but for very understandable and believable reasons. This is sort of a Romeo and Juliet type saga, only the outcome is triumphant and satisfying after so much loss on both sides. I personally enjoyed the fact that love was able to see past very real and painful prejudices, and in the end bring a measure of honesty, healing and peace to the brave cast of characters.

Although I did find myself skimming ahead a time or two, I didn't do it much simply because the writer didn't bore me. I was just eager to see what would happen next. This is my first Kathleen Morgan book. I would gladly read more of her works.
