Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

All she wanted to do was to shut out the world and pretend that none of this had ever happened. But she couldnít. Suddenly, all choice had been taken from her and she didnít like what remained. Didnít like it at all. Kathleen Morgan is the author of numerous books, including the Brides of Culdee Creek series. She lives near Colorado Springs, Colorado.

About Kathleen Morgan

Kathleen was born in sunny Long Beach, California, one of four daughters of a career Army officer.

As a former Army nurse with a master's degree in counseling, she has lived in Germany, Korea, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, Louisiana, Florida, Washington, D.C., Alabama, California, and Colorado.

She is married to a retired Army helicopter pilot and is the mother of two sons-one deceased- and stepmother to another son and a daughter, both of whom have been very busy making her a grandmother.

In her free time, Kathleen likes to quilt, play the Celtic harp, and be companion and caretaker to an aging English cocker spaniel. She is also a companion and the wifely caretaker to her husband, who is not quite so aged :)

Kathleen the Author

Kathleen began her career writing contemporary romances and soon moved to historical and futuristic romances. She sold her first book, a futuristic romance, in April 1990 while stationed in Korea as an Army nurse. Additional romances soon followed, until she had sold a total of fifteen books in the general market, establishing a loyal readership along the way.

Since that time, she has received numerous awards for her work, including a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice award and Career Achievement award, and The Literary Times award for Literary Excellence in the Field of Romantic Fiction. She was also a Romance Writers of America RITA finalist.

Kathleen now focuses her writing talents in the area of inspirational fiction, offering readers characters who struggle to redefine their growing faith in everyday life.

I usually like historical novels best, so I was surprised that this was by far my favourite of the Culdee creek 3 book Xmas series. It was a very satisfying novel and I really enjoyed it. However, it seems like there must have been a lot more novels in between the three here in this series, and it is a bit unsatisfying that it wasn’t clear what the other novels were or that this was just somehow only part of a longer series. I like to read series in order and it wasn’t clear that this 3 book set was part, it seemed, of a much larger series. But by itself, this book was excellent

This is a Christmas story. Like most Christmas stories, the book has religious themes. Typical to most Christmas stories, the religious themes are about experiences and situations, which lead people back to faith and God. So, if you don't want to read that sort of book, don't read this book. However, if you do like to read this sort of story, then by all means read the book. Like most stories along this line, there is a sweet simplicity to the book. It lends itself to wanting a sequel to see what happens to the main characters following the Christmas season.

The story starts in New York City and successful plastic surgeon, Devra MacKay receiving a call that all of us dread. Someone close to her has died and she is winging her way back home to Colorado and the family ranch.

What she learns is there is a choice to make. She can keep the ranch, but if she does it comes with a life changing price. If she chooses to return to her life in New York, she will lose the ranch and it will pass out of the MacKay family.

Read the book to find out what Devra chooses and how she comes to that decision.

No achievement is ever worth turning one's back on tradition, home of family. Leaving everything important in one's life is a loss too great to be measured. True love only comes around once. Grab into it and live the life of which you've always dreamed! This was a thought provoking story of life.

I have read all of The Brides of Culdee Creek series, as well as all the books in These Highland Hills series. I really like Kathleen Morgan's writing, most of the time. However, this book was slow. I just kept reading and reading wondering when something was h going to happen or rather yet what was the point. Then ask the sudden in the last 1/4 of the book something happened but it was short not well explained, and then the book was over. I would not recommend this book. Really the only part I liked was the last chapter, mainly because it referenced back to former characters and added in some faith.

Kathleen Morgan is a really good writer, and i really enjoyed her stories, even some others that she has written. all I want to do is read since the weather is so questionable here in Michigan.

I even cried real tears of joy. I love the whole Culdee Creek stories and am now on my last one. Great story and great writer. I feel as if I really know the characters, having been through their ups and downs and loves with them. I will miss them, though I may just re-read the whole series again.

This was another Wonderful Story of The MacKay's. I loved Conor's and Abby's story and the entire Culdee Creek Saga! I'm sad for it to end in the future, with Devra Mackay and Ross Blackstone! I enjoyed these stories; however all three could have had a better ending! Thanks again for sharing the entire Culdee Creek story, but seems like a death of the MacKey family!

I love all of Kathleen Morgan's e-books. I have read all of her Culdee Creek series. One right after another.
I could not put them down. She has other series that I will read as soon as I am able to. I would recommend
all of Kathleen Morgan books to everyone I know who enjoy a good clean read.

An excellent romantic read. I also loved the Christian principles and how the characters struggled with them. Not so different from us in reality.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor finish to Culdee Creek legacy
Reviewed in Australia on March 13, 2016
After so many great books centred around the MacKay family and Culdee Creek, I found this story lacking in substance and so short! It seemed like such a hastily thrown together story and the central romance too contrived - Devra was a hard character to like. Devra's turning point at the very end was not believable - the author wizzed through the generations of MacKays as a way of bringing the story full circle but it just fell flat for me. Overall, while the author has a nice writing style, everything else was left wanting.
