The Finland Mission Hardcover – July 1, 1999

3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 154 ratings

In the eyes of the world, they don't even exist ...

Supposedly disbanded over forty years ago, their identities are shrouded in secrecy, their exploits known only to a few. They are the elite, the daring loners of the sea. They are the men of the Special Boat Squadron.

Plucked from the midst of the Falklands conflict, SBS Team Alpha is ordered into an area dominated by the combined fleet of the Warsaw pact. Their mission: to retrieve parts of a Soviet experimental satellite, the Fireball, before its masters can mount a recovery operation. But the Fireball won't be given up without a fight. And Russia's deadly paratroops, the Red Eagles, are already en route to the splashdown zone.

Enjoyable thriller, but rather short. Interesting story with tension by the buckets, no untidy romance or any home life details. Fast read.

A really fantastic insight into what the SBS can get up to in this secretive world of ours, fortunately they are protecting us and they are our very private hero's.
