NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Set in Cedar Cove’s charming Rose Harbor Inn, Debbie Macomber’s captivating new novel follows innkeeper Jo Marie and two new guests as they seek healing and comfort, revealing that every cloud has a silver lining, even when it seems difficult to find.

Since opening the Rose Harbor Inn, Jo Marie Rose has grown close to her handyman, Mark Taylor. Jo Marie and Mark are good friends—and are becoming something more—yet he still won’t reveal anything about his past. When Mark tells her that he’s moving out of town, Jo Marie is baffled. Just when she is starting to open herself up again to love, she feels once more that she is losing the man she cares about. And as she discovers the secret behind Mark’s decision to leave, she welcomes two visitors also seeking their own answers.

Best friends Kellie Crenshaw and Katie Gilroy have returned to Cedar Cove for their ten-year high school reunion, looking to face down old hurts and find a sense of closure. Kellie, known as Coco, wants to finally confront the boy who callously broke her heart. Katie, however, wishes to reconnect with her old boyfriend, James—the man she still loves and the one who got away. As Katie hopes for a second chance, Coco discovers that people can change—and both look to the exciting possibilities ahead.

Heartwarming and uplifting,
Silver Linings is a beautiful novel of letting go of the past and embracing the unexpected.

I found Debbie Macomber as an author with the first of the Rose Harbor novels (“The Inn at Rose Harbor”). What grabbed me from the first was her ability to eloquently describe the feelings of grief and loss that the main character, Jo Marie Rose, deals with when she discovers her husband is missing in action and presumed lost. Throughout the series, and especially in this book “Silver Linings”, Ms. Macomber continues to astound me with her ability to express feelings – both good and not good in a way that I can relate to. Once again, I spent a good portion of this book laughing and crying. I honestly don't know what more you can ask from a novel about life.

In “Silver Linings”, we continue to follow Jo Marie's evolving relationship with her handyman, Mark Taylor. At the end of the last book, Mark has expressed his feelings for Jo Marie, who is reeling from his declaration and spends most of this book trying to decipher what she feels for him.

Along with the Jo Marie storyline, we meet Katie and Coco. They are two friends who are in town for their ten year high school reunion. While they met in their last year of school, they bonded immediately and then each suffered an emotional setback that has haunted them for the last decade. They are attending the reunion, each with the intent of trying to resolve their set-back so they can get on with life. Their stories are told in flash-backs to their teenage years. It was an interesting way of incorporating elements of YA into a women's literature novel. I don't read a lot of YA but found that it worked well in this case for a one time story line. I am sure that Ms. Macomber does not intend to move this series into YA as the Jo Marie/Mark story is that of an adult couple.

I enjoyed reading this book and read it pretty much in one sitting as I have the other books in this series. My husband knows to leave me alone with I am camped out with a book and a pot of tea, with my tissues near by for the unavoidable tears.

Since discovering Ms. Macomber through this series, I have read others of her books and have seen movies and television series based on her novels. I know that I will have a good read whenever I sit down with one of her books and I really look forward to it.

Heartfelt, heart wrenching, heart-warming. This is definitely a novel with heart. Macomber takes readers back to the beautify Rose Harbor in for a story packed full of emotion & discovery. Jo Marie’s brief narration of her new life also makes this a good starting point for new readers to the series.

The reason for the name of the inn is fantastic. With just two words Macomber connects the entire novel (and the series) together. It sets the scene for what has happened and what will happen. I really enjoyed how this novel wasn’t a rushed weekend of rejuvenation. These characters took much longer to get there. Being able to follow each of them throughout their journey truly inspired me.

I really enjoy how Macomber focuses not only on Jo Marie’s life but also on those of her guests. The intersections of everyone’s lives gives a sense of continuity. The different tone of the writing as Macomber writes about the three major characters’ current life events really makes each of them stand out. I love how their stories weave together.

My final thoughts on this one? Oh my goodness! Mark! Macomber has me so fully entrenched in this world and the lives of her characters that my heart is pounding out of my chest & I’m dying to see how this all plays out.

Since opening the Rose Harbor Inn, Jo Marie Rose has met fascinating people from all walks of life, but none have piqued her interest quite like handyman Mark Taylor. 5.0 out of 5 stars Les séquences des livres quand il s'agit d'une série
Reviewed in France on May 4, 2019

My 2nd favorite series of Debbie Macomber will be the Rose Harbor series. It is about Jo Marie and Mark woven through storylines of visitors to the B&B. Very interesting and easy reads. I like the fact that Debbie writes about the human kind's inner struggles and joys , regular people like you and I and how they work through it. In real life not everybody has a happy ending, but this is fiction so I like that there are happy endings in Rose Harbor Inn.
I can't wait for the finale for Jo Marie and Mark.

The story was a bit cheesey, also a bit predictable but it doesn't matter. I was immediately drawn into the book, cheering on and hoping that I was right with how things would end. I was, but Debbie Macomber wrote it out much better than I could even imagine it--

This book is recomended to everyone who needs a comfort story. There are parts that you will figure out...but they are told in a way that you would not deduce!
