Herne on the vengeance trail searching for the snakes who raped his wife, who he discovered hanging in their barn, she had committed suicide.
This but characters of seven men who also murdered his neighbor Jody's mother, who he now rode with on his trek to locate the last men involved in this hellish murdering binge they were on.....alcohol always brings out the worst of people they do things that normally they wouldn't do. But under the guise of alcohol they can commit these crimes under the blankets of night...

This just had a good story. All stories continue into each other well. Good story without too much descriptive detail.

I read some of these novels as a boy. I remembered them being more violent, but this was an acceptable classic western

Second part of the Herne the Hunter series and while the story is good enough it is let down by numerous typos, and those spoil the flow of the story.

So a star removed for that and another for parts that just don't improve the story line.

A number of scenes should have been given more detail and weren't others are just padding and add nothing to the story. It is a shame that the editors of this series were more interested in churning out stories than doing their job correctly, a writer of talent let down by them.

So all that being said this is still a good story line Herne is still on the vengeance trail and being hunted by bounty hunters as well, this time he has the daughter of his dead neighbour along and has to worry about her as well
There are a couple of in jokes that western fans will get, but I won t spoil them for you.

Good story could have been better so only 3 stars but I will download the next instalment.
