- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2017Although this is a typical romance novel love story, Ms. Brown writes it so that you want a happy ending for the heroine Erin O'Shea. Without giving away anything from the book, the story is sad in parts, but sweet throughout. I do warn you though, the book felt like it was the writers outlet to use every "big word of the day" that she has learned over the last twenty years. Words that I had never heard, much less used before even though I am a voracious reader with a pretty decent vocabulary were thrown in for what seemed like no other reason than to impress the reader. So, read the book, it's worth your time if your at the beach, but don't forget to take your dictionary, and possibly your thesaurus along too.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2014I could tell this was one of her earlier books because of the style of writing. I kept my dictionary near, but over all it was a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2025Book was as described and delivered earlier than promised.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2017I love Sandra Brown and have read over 30 of her books - most of them multiple times. This book, however, was a real disappointment. There is no plot. The characters are weak. The love scenes, which Sandra is usually so masterful at, were flat. I kept reading thinking it had to get better but it never did. I'm sorry I spent the money to buy this and the time to read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2016A story about a woman who is searching for her brother -- each had been adopted by different families when their mother gave them up.
When the woman knocks at the door of the house to which she has tracked her brother, she is greeted by a government agent who is also trying to track down the brother.
Over time, the woman and the agent get together and fall in love. The brother is found murdered so she never gets to meet him but she becomes close friends with his widow. Starts off slowly but it gradually turns into a good story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2023This is an older book that I just read and
the story was really interesting. It took a different turn than I expected and the ending was a surprise.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2015I love Sandra Brown and have read many of her books. This one must have been written early on. It was complete nonsense. The characters were all fluff and non-believable, and the premise was ridiculous. The male lead attacks the female lead and then she can't help herself from being drawn to him? He was a jerk and she was a feminist's nightmare. If that sounds fun to you go for it. Otherwise read one of her better books instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a must read
The story wasn't bad, but a bit too unrealistic . Brown has written better books than this.
