New York Times bestselling author Belva Plain goes to the heart of what it means to be a woman, a wife, and a friend, in her powerful new novel—a story of love and betrayal that measures the limits of loyalty, friendship, and forgiveness.

They met at school and have been inseparable ever since: Cecile, confident, elegant daughter of privilege; Norma, extraordinarily gifted and sadly troubled; and beautiful, ambitious Amanda, determined to rise above her humble southern beginnings. Two are married. One despairs of ever finding love. Three women. Leading their busy adult lives. Yet first and always: friends.

Then something unexpected happens that forever alters their long, complicated friendship. A pivotal event, a shattering act of betrayal shifts the balance of power between husbands and wives, parents and children, sisters and brothers. And in the months that follow, each of them will look at their families, their lives--and one another--differently.

And none of them will ever be the same.

I always enjoy the books of Belva Plain and this one did not disappoint. Interesting lives of 3 college friends and how as adults become intertwined. Who is loyal to who? How will that impact all of them? Who will endure?

Co-worker found copy on my desk and started reading: "This book is very interesting I only read chapter 1 but am hooked. Where can one get a copy and how much is it?
Passed it on to her friend:

I’ve always enjoyed reading books written by this author. From the moment I open to read chapter one, it’s full steam ahead😀 Unfortunately for myself the author is deceased and I’ve read all her published books.

Wonderful story about three very different young women meeting in college and how their lives intertwined after college.

The story keeps you interested right up to the last page.

Read this book in one setting. As always author didn't disappoint. I did have a problem getting the characters straight. Good story about 3 women meeting while in college and their lives afterwards. I was so disappointed with Norma and how she justified her lies. Abrupt ending

You really have to have some patience to get through the first few chapters of this book, and i have found all belva plain`s books to be like that, but she does manage to put a interesting story together - eventually. You go through the stage where you couldn`t care less if you never pick the book up again, then suddenly she has you and you can`t put it down. Having read plain`s other books i was expecting this so i stuck with it - and i`m glad i did - i enjoyed it - although i don`t think she would have had any sleepless nights thinking up the title......

3.0 out of 5 stars Sadly disappointed.

Not the Belva Plain I have been hooked on for years. I guess this is a book she may have started in the past and someone has completed since her death. I felt it was too rushed and none of the characters hooked me as in previous books. Such a shame but her style and characters in her previous books were so real . I hope this is not done too often. There was only one real Belva Pkain.

A story a bit too drawn out and felt its end didn't do justice to the book but OK to pass the time
