Love is a Gift (Heartland No. 15) Paperback – March 1, 2004

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

When Amy receives a ticket to visit her father in Australia, Ty encourages her to go and enjoy a restful holiday. Instead, she finds herself grappling with new roles in her extended family.

When Amy journeys to Australia with her sister Lou to visit their father on his horse ranch, she has difficulty feeling a part of his new family. Lou gets along easily with his wife and three-year-old daughter, Lily, but Amy can't look past the fact that she was just three when her father left. So Amy delves into the stablework. But when she reaches a breakthrough with one of the jumpers, the other trainers resent her success. Amy laments that she can't do anything right away from Heartland. It takes a family crisis for Amy to discover she can claim new roles - and make new friends.

Oh gosh! THis book, along with all of the others the brilliant Brooke has written is absolutly amazing! I loved every minuete of it, all accept for the fact that Amy was without Ty!! I think thy are sooo cute together! I also liked how she finally made friends with her new sister towards the end. Ms. Brooke has not let any of us down with this or any other of her books! I just bless the day was so bored and thought to read the first book which I had thrown aside without a second glance. It was fait I'm telling you! FAIT!! I'm also excited to be getting my OWN horse and stableing it RIGHT BEHIND MY HOUSE!!! I'll get to see her every day!! (...) Yes..I love the Lord of the Rings, too. (...)

I have read all the Heartland books so far and I plan to read them till they stop. (I HOPE that isn't soon!!!) I LOVED the first thirteen. the last three have been fairly good but they lack the same desription and feeling that made the others so excitingI think it is cool to see Amy somewhere new, dealing with her father's new wife and daugther. I also liked the fact that Amy realized, to a certain extent, that family is more important than horses. (even though horses ROCK)I missed having the heartland crew there, especially TY! :) All in all I thought it was a good book, but there was something missing.

Amy,and lou travel to australia to visit with their father and their new stepmother and half sister. Lou immediatley fits in with helena and lily and amy feels left out. She treats two horses and learns something about herself in the process. Eventually she feels part of her new family and is sucsessful with the two horses. A very happy ending for fans of lou and scott!!! This was a great book (as well as the entire series!) and i reccomend it to every horse fan! its worth it!! ;)
