Michael, a product of his rich fake family environment, wanted more, go involved with a wrong crowd and was saved by God's grace. Found God through prison ministry and then was able to find what made him healthy happy, helping kids similar to his struggles through life. Maggie is a strong woman who, with God's help grasp life and helps youth group at a church. Michael and Laura come together both with tough past hurts with hope to make a better future for other but for themselves as we'll.

Michael Carson was leaving prison. Maggie Simmons had a past, too, but tried to give everyone a second chance. Maggie met Blake again at a party where Michael's parents lived and realized she was not the only one who knew him well. Drugs, romance and challenged children make this book a good read. Pastor Banks kept watch on all his flock throughout this book.

It's not your usual romance.

Maggie Simmons is a counselor at a church. She has an after school and summer program for the youth and it takes up a lot of her time. Romance in her life is non-existent, and she doesn't think she'll ever be comfortable enough to have another relationship. Something bad happened to her years ago and the memories of that night still haunt her.

Then the most unlikely hero walks in. Who would ever think that an ex-drug addict who just got out of prison where he spent three or four years could be the man Maggie was looking for? She didn't need anyone to take care of her! After all, her father had abandoned her before she was even born and her mother OD'd when she was thirteen years old. The story, though, is very believable and sweet!

Besides drug addiction, drug crimes, and romance; this story deals with troubled teens, dead-beat fathers who suddenly get guilty and do the right thing, and trust. The author did a great job in weaving this story together and creating the characters!

I did question a bit about how accepted Michael seemed to be. I don't believe that there wasn't some opposition in church with Michael actually being a part of it's ministry. And wouldn't his working with impressionable teenagers be a problem as well? Perhaps I'm over-analyzing...These questions didn't take away from my review - just things I was wondering about as I read the story. I just thought he was a bit too accepted.
