I read the books in reverse, starting with Soren's story then proceeding to Brice's and finishing with Giles. All were terrific reads. Finished each in one evening a piece. I love this historical time period and this book did not disappoint in vivid details. Plus there was alot of romance and heat between the characters. I would recommend each of the books in the series for an entertaining read. You will be swept away by Giles and Fayth's story.

Getting even a small, minute, remote character description from this Author is equatable to pulling root bound teeth. Bits and pieces eke through......eventually...but never any solid, REAL descriptive DETAILS!! How is the reader supposed to connect to characters if they cannot invision WHAT the characters are supposed to look like?!? This story is adequately told (hence 4 stars) as these types of medieval romance stories go...that is; war, conquering, attaining lands..blah blah....but..Ms. B has told this same tedious story repeatedly in several of her other books; she's had so much practice, it IS (of course).. told well. But she needs to move on to new subject matter...(or maybe I need to move on to better reading material and give Ms. B. a rest). Instead of almost (but not quite) endearing the characters to our hearts..instead of knowing their personalities through and through - - I feel like a gnat on the ceiling...far removed from their dilemma. It's very frustrating as I want so badly to love these characters. There's simply no connection.

Upside: The intimate moments are superb and so well told. Perfect capitulation.

After William defeats Herald, Norman Knights are given Saxon holdings and the daughters of the keep as wives. One bastard knight eagerly storms the keep that is now his. Marrying the former Saxons Lord's daughter is easier than gaining her trust, especially when a powerful enemy holds her trust instead. LOVE THIS SERIES!

There's a novella that introduces the characters of this series and I just could not avoid looking for the rest of the books to read. I am usually a fan of Regency and not this type of 12th century stories but I loved these. I felt as if I was living with the characters and really got immersed into their lives and strugles. I even cried when I read the endings!

I really was more interested in reading the 2nd book about Brice, but thought I would read the series in order. I know the other reviewers thought this was mostly a 5 star, but I have to disagree. Giles was a bully and Fayth was a very weak person through out the whole book in my opinion. I did like Brice in this story but now I don't know if I want to continue the series, it seems like it could be a waste of money. They did also mention Soren who is in the 3rd book and that does peak ones interest also.

A great read! I love books where women and men play the traditional roles inside of a marriage. The H and h were well suited, both were intelligent and well developed characters.

Heroine easily and desperately falls in love, hero no so much. As a matter of fact the hero (as far as I can remember) never has thoughts of loving her, only that he can have her when and where he wants her, regardless of his behavior (and believe me he can!!!!), she does not know the meaning of the word restraint.. Also, although the heroine often tells him how much she loves him, he never reciprocates. Only in the very last couples of pages, he pledges to her and her people his love. To me, this declaration felt more like a formality to consolidate their future, than a romantic adknowledgement..

If you enjoy reading about a love sick heroine, with a hero who is often not very nice to her, and who has more important priorities, that what ever he feels for the heroine, what ever little that might be (even his lust for her, he can usually control), then you will enjoy this book. Otherwise, I suggest you keep looking for something else to read.

I enjoyed this story, particularly the realistic relationship between the two main characters. The plot was a bit predictable and follows a well-used formula, but it was decently well done.
