Once again, Lexi has gotten herself into a heap of trouble. All she did was sit down at a table to do some work on the bachelorette party. Simple, right? It would have been if she hadn't been given instructions for a hack and payment for it, found out it was hacking the NSA, and then met the intended hacker. Car chases, an evil foreign dignitary trying to hack into USA security, and the FBI tailing her to a disastrous bridal dress fitting. Lexi and Slash end up in protective custody, but their location is given to the folks who want to kill them to stop them from blocking the hackers. On the run, they create their own protective custody for just the two of them. They even go to an Embassy Party at the evil country's embassy where the subject is cybersecurity. Now the evil government dignitary gives chase as they leave, but the FBI is also on their tails. Elvis comes to their rescue, but Slash is out for a long time from the drugged dart the FBI shot. Lexi and Elvis have to take over the black code that Lexi and Slash have been working so they can destroy the other country's security. The evil country kidnaps one of Lexi's brothers.

The whole gang rallies and gets everything in place for a response if the evil government releases their black code. In black code vs black code, no one wins.

Fortunately, cooler heads prevail in time for both the bachelor and bachelorette parties to take place. Lexi and Elvis, socially awkward to the core planned these parties.

This is my favorite book of the series because it has one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever read. I saw it in my mind so clearly as I was reading it. No matter how many times I reread the book, I still break down in hysterical laughter.

Julie Moffett is a very talented writer. She uses words beautifully. And the pictures she creates in her scenes are amazing. I have little idea of how to code, but I can see it happening. Every scene leaps from the page and onto the movie screen in my brain. My favorite kind of books. And Julie's a champ at writing them.

Trouble follows Lexi Carmichael wherever she goes. In her latest adventure, Lexi stumbles upon proof that the computer systems in certain departments of the NSA have been hacked. When the alleged hacker goes gunning for Lexi, she knows she will have to do whatever it takes to neutralize a potential threat that could have repercussions for many years to come. With people being murdered, Slash, Lexi, Elvis and Xavier (and a new friend—loved that this character was brought back for a quick visit!) must combine their substantial skills and race to stop the hackers from unleashing a deadly cyber attack on the United States.

No Strings Attached by Julie Moffett is the eighth book in the entertaining Lexi Carmichael Mystery series. As with the previous seven, Ms. Moffett has written a story that is fun and exciting. Her characters are wonderfully drawn and, with each book, we learn more about these brilliant people. Lexi and Slash are just perfect for each other; I’m so glad the author ‘got them together’—LOL. I love that the author gave us a deeper look into Slash’s life, and that Lexi found out some things about herself that surprised her.

I’m looking forward to the next Lexi book (No Living Soul). I definitely recommend this series. Although each book can stand alone, I suggest you start at the beginning so you can get to know these wonderful characters. Happy reading!

The Lexi Carmichael-series is one of my favorite series. The stories are very well plotted and crafted and the characters develop over the course of the series. Number 8 already and still going very very strong.

Lexi is attending HACK CON when she stumbles into a situation where it is clear national security is threatened. After an attempt on her life (again!) The situation escalates and soon Lexi and Slash are at it again to save the US against a very real threat, ofcourse with the help of their friends.

During all this, Lexi is still planning Basia's bachelorette party and taking her duties as Maid of honor very seriously. I almost peed my pants laughing so hard at a very particular scene at a bridal shop.

I cannot reveal too much as I received an ARC and I don't want to spoil the story. What I enjoyed was the fact that Lexi and Slash really are center stage in this installment and that their relationship is growing.

Quotes without trying to spoil :-) :

“Wow. I’m not sure what to say. Was there really an ambulance, fire truck and an insurance adjuster involved?” “Unfortunately, yes.”

And:

The attraction of the forbidden. The power of the dark side.

Oop's I did it again.... This is not just Lexi's saying but it should be Julie Moffetts as well, because she has done it yet again.

No Strings Attached went above and beyond awesome.

Lexi's little black cloud explodes in this book right from the first page.
Action packed non-stop adventure from the first to the last page.
Cyber security at its best, potential terrorism, potential nuclear fallout, mad men, assassins, FBI, NSA and Lexi can only trust those closet to her, Slash, Elvis, Xavier her brothers Beau and Rock plus her seal mate Hands, these are the guys Lexi knows have her back always.

Lexi got to find her inner depth in this book she analysed everything and did what she had to, I really how she trusted her instincts more and Lexi also identified when to listen to her heart and when to listen to her head, this young woman is such an amazing character.

An enjoyable adventure I will love reading again and again.

I know almost nothing about computing and nothing at all about hacking but this book made me believe that I might, although I occasionally got bewildered by the talk of dark codes and black hatting.
Comedy was provided in the planning for Basia's wedding
I have enjoyed the entire series of books about Lexi & co and am looking forward to the next one.
