Hailed as “the reigning queen of women’s fiction” (
The Sacramento Bee), Debbie Macomber is renowned for her novels of love, friendship, and the promise of fresh starts. Now Macomber returns to the charming Rose Harbor Inn, where each guest finds a second chance and every room comes with an inspiring new view.

Since moving to Cedar Cove, Jo Marie Rose has truly started to feel at home, and her neighbors have become her closest friends. Now it’s springtime, and Jo Marie is eager to finish the most recent addition to her inn. In memory of her late husband, Paul, she has designed a beautiful rose garden for the property and enlisted handyman Mark Taylor to help realize it. She and Mark don’t always see eye-to-eye—and at times he seems far removed—yet deep down, Jo Marie finds great comfort in his company. And while she still seeks a sense of closure, she welcomes her latest guests, who are on their own healing journeys.

Annie Newton arrives in town to orchestrate her grandparents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration. While Annie is excited for the festivities, she’s struggling to move on from her broken engagement, and her grandparents themselves seem to be having trouble getting along. Worse, Annie is forced to see Oliver Sutton, with whom she grew up and who has always mercilessly teased her. But the best parties end with a surprise, and Annie is in for the biggest one of all.

High-powered businesswoman Mary Smith, another Rose Harbor Inn guest, has achieved incredible success in her field, yet serious illness has led her to face her sole, lingering regret. Almost nineteen years ago, she ended her relationship with her true love, George Hudson, and now she’s returned to Cedar Cove to make amends.

Compassion and joy await Jo Marie, Annie, and Mary as they make peace with their pasts and look boldly toward their futures.
Rose Harbor in Bloom is Debbie Macomber at her heartwarming best.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

The second book in best-selling Macomber’s Rose Harbor series is set in Cedar Cove, the cozy Washington town on the Puget Sound that is the setting of many of her novels as well as that of a new Hallmark Network TV series. Jo Marie Rose, a recent war widow, has opened a bed-and-breakfast in Cedar Cove. She is testy with curmudgeonly Mark, the handyman who procrastinated in putting her rose garden in until too late for it to be ready for her big open house, when every room is filled. Mary Smith, frail, weak, and bald from fighting breast cancer, has a secret reason for wanting to be in Cedar Cove. The other guests are celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Annie Newton’s grandparents. Annie, a party planner getting over a broken engagement, is aghast to run into her teenage nemesis—the first boy she ever kissed. Then Jo Marie learns that it isn’t certain that her soldier husband perished in a helicopter wreck. Macomber’s legions of fans will embrace this cozy, heartwarming read. --Diana Tixier Herald

I like Debbie Macomber's books. This one I read on my Kindle Fire at the Fitness Center on the bike. I did 6 miles and didn't know it as this book is a page turner. This story is about three guests at Jo Marie's B&B. Mary ,a women who has breast cancer and comes home for an extended weekend to make peace with the life she left behind to be a very successful corporate executive in NYC. Then there is Annie who just broke her engagement to Lenny a loser ( we know it) who is throwing a 50th wedding anniversary for her grandparents Kent and Julie who got married in Cedar Cove back in the early 60's who seem to be headed for divorce instead of celebrating 50 years of marriage. And Oscar who grew up with Annie and is a friend to her grandparents who drove them to Cedar Cove. Once again Jo Marie has hopes that her husband Paul is still alive when she receives a phone call from the service. Then there is dear Mark her handyman who is we all know is madly in love with Jo Marie but can't do anything about it until she finally lets Paul go. But not this book maybe in the next. Debbie brings back Michelle from the first book so we find out how that story line is going for a short blurb. This is a nice series that I am looking forward to reading like the Knitting and Cedar Cove series. If you are not into series books this is not for you. I recommend this book if you like to read Debbie's stories. They are light and we all know how the stories are going to end but who cares. I rather read her books than books that have foul language and people bed hopping.

In this second Rose Harbor novel, we find two women fighting not to give in to their true feelings. One, because she supposes the man is her enemy, and the other because she supposes the man can't love her enough to go through the ordeal she anticipates. Innkeeper JoMarie, herself, can't quite determine what's happening between her and her irascible handyman. Macomber takes on serious issues from the vantage point of individuals enduring them, providing insight and probably comfort to readers who are themselves in their throes. A worthwhile read.

This was the exact book that I wanted at an excellent price. If this book was used, as I'd thought when I ordered it from the price, the person barely turned the pages - it looks brand new to me! And I was the Quality Manager for book manufacturers for 15 years!
Love it, love it, love it.

I haven't finish the book yet, but I am loving it, I feel for Mary, and hope she over comes her battle with cancer. I would love to see her and George get back together, they sound like they would make a great couple. Jo Marie is a fantastic woman and its sad that she has to wait to hear about her husband, she needs closure in her life. She's very caring person who cares about people. I hope the anniversary party goes well for the couple, the book is awesome. I love reading Debbie's books. It makes you sit and wonder what the town is all about.

I just finished reading the book and its awesome, if you haven't read it yet, you sure, Jo Marie does finally hear back about her husband and it brings closure to her and she can read the letter that her husband wrote to her. I feel like I want to be with her to comfort her, its so sweet that she is caring for this man that is doing work for her. The grandparents had a great time at there anniversary that there granddaughter put together for them. Its amazing how happy they can be. I wish the book would continue.
Thank you Debbie, you are an awesome writer and my favorite author.

I smiled and I cried when I read this latest book by Debbie Macomber. This story showed why I love her writing so much. She is able to weave such interesting and emotional stories together with such ease.

Rose Harbor Inn is a special place that draws in people who are facing difficult challenges in their lives. We have Jo Marie who deep downs doesn’t think her husband is dead and dreads the calls from his commanding officer about the recovery efforts for his body. We have Mary who is fighting breast cancer and wants to apologize to the love of her life for the decisions she made years ago. These stories and more are all woven around this beautiful inn located in Cedar Cove.

This book completely works as a standalone. I know this for a fact because I totally forgot to read the first book in this series. It didn’t seem to matter at all. I was able to step right into this world and become emotionally involved with these amazing characters. I will definitely read book one and be on the lookout for the next book in this beautiful series.

This is the second in Debbie Macomber's Rose Harbor series.
Jo Marie is the innkeeper who is expecting guests who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and some of their friends and family members and another woman with breast cancer who has unfinished business in the Seattle/Cedar Cove area.

In addition we see the return of the irascible but talented handyman, Mark. Jo Marie comes to his aid when he is pinned under a table in his shop.

For people who like romances, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for explicit, thrust by thrust sex, you will need to look for another book. Personally, I liked this book. It did drag n some parts but overall, it was a very enjoyable read. Although this is a series, I think that the book could be read as a standalone without too much confusion on the part of the reader.

I really enjoy reading about the guests at the Rose Harbor Inn, I ached for Mary and was so happy that she got to stay and share her life with George the man that she had loved all those years and to have seen and talked to her daughter that she had given up all those years ago was amazing! I loved the grandparents, they were so funny. I also had hoped against hope that Paul was alive even though it was impossible having lost my own husband it would have been lovely but not realistic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Heartwarming and Joyful
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 22, 2014
I really love Debbie Macomber's books they are each special in their own right, Rose Harbor In Bloom is no different. This book is the sequel to 'The Inn at Rose Harbour' which I will be review very soon as well. Rose Harbour In Bloom tells the story of the owner and the guests that stay in Rose Harbour, this story follows the lives of three women that each need to get closure on a part of their life and find out what is next for them.

The story starts with Jo Marie and her lovely inn at Rose Harbour, along with her sweet dog, Rover she has taken to life at the habour quite well but she is still hurting from the sudden death of her husband, Paul. There is also Mary who is very ill and she has returned to Rose Harbour to finally get closure for a mistake she made nearly twenty years ago.

Jo Maire and Mark who is the gardener and landscaper have a very unique friendship and over the course of the story, you can find them arguing on several occasions. In the last book The Inn at Rose Harbour Jo Maire purchased the inn as part of rebuilding her life after her husband tragically dead, this story picks back up with the upcoming season and the inn full bookings.

Annie is one of the many guest that are going to be staying in the inn, she is there along with the rest of her family as part of her grandparents wedding anniversary. Though Annie is glad for the escape as she has recently broken up with her Fiance who had lied to her on several occasions, so she decides to arrive early and escape her life back home.

Rose Harbour in Bloom is an amazing story, perfect for a summer read and also for anyone who just loves Debbie Macomber's books. This story is full of close friends, second chances and a lots of surprises that are in store for the guests at the inn.

If I had to sum this book in three words, they would have to be Amazing, Heartwarming and Joyful. I loved this book and would read it again and again as it is totally brilliant. I would recommend this book to everyone as it has everything friendship, family ties and much more.
