This was an emotional story of abuse and betrayal that shaped a young girl into a fearful woman at the hands of her father. Eva MacKay is then forced into marriage with a man she doesn't know to help further her father's evil intentions. Luckily, her betrothed is Rob Mackintosh whom we know from the first Highland Feuding book. He is a strong, kind and caring man who gets more than he bargained for with Eva. As the story unfolds, I felt more and more connected to the characters and what they were going through. There was a good amount of sexual tension and I couldn't wait to see it resolved. I love when there is strong chemistry and steamy passion and I was not disappointed. I read a lot of historical romances and I felt as though this plot was out of the ordinary and original. I am eager to read the next in the series and more from Terri Brisbin. Plus I liked the cover of this book better than the first one.

Eva MacKay doesn't want to marry dutiful Ron Mackintosh, so of course she runs away, She becomes sick and then the romance comes. It is a warm and inspiring story.

Another triumph for Terri Brisbin! An on-the-edge-of-my-seat story which really plucked at my heartstrings! Heading on to book three right away!

I like Terri Brisbin's writing style, this book kept my attention the whole way through. The book was the length I like, around 300 pages. But this book was not a 4 or 5 star for me because it had a sad undertone throughout most of it. Some of her books are rather dark. I prefer a touch of humor or lightness to them. Another thing that bothered me with this book was I, the reader, and probably the hero would have liked a little info about the heroine's lover; who was he, a little about their relationship and how her father could have ended it the way he did. The ending was good but without any details a little hard to believe the hero could accomplish it without help.

LOVED IT!!! As usual, another keeper from Brisbin. The author writes the most yummy Highlanders ever and her heroines are always strong and smart. I read it in one night, for which I stayed up too late and paid for it the next day. :)

Blackmailed by her father for her sin, the daughter of a Laird forces her into marriage with a warrior of another clan. Engaging romance that will keep you awake long into the night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy of the read!

I liked that Rob, who was a big character in the first novel of the series, got a story of his own - the clan is back in the castle and village now instead of living in hiding in the mountains - Brodie and Arabella as Laird and Lady are large characters in this novel and I really appreciated that family and friend feeling - Eva's struggle with her abusive father and the way he played people to get his way no matter who he hurt was a subplot in this novel but a very good one - not the hot steamy romance like between Brodie and Arabella in the first novel but a loving relationship built on solid caring
