If you haven’t familiarized yourself with the party game Werewolf/Mafia, check it out because that’s Raging Loop’s skeleton for the game (with some changes). However, the juicy, meaty part of the game is its story. You’re an outsider that somehow got roped into playing a real-life version of Werewolf in a remote village, trying to figure out the wolves before you die or lose the game. Of course, there’s a great deal more going on behind the scenes and each character then what I’m letting on. I, unfortunately, have to be incredibly vague with this review because I don’t want to spoil the game for anyone (I’ve already beaten the game).
I can say for certain the New Game+/post content is actually very insightful to the game’s story+characters and adds a fresh air to a second run. Also, the music is on point with its creepiness.
tl;dr: Really fun visual novel, give it a shot.
If you likes fiction story, this is another great way to enjoy a "book" on Nintendo Switch.
I'm going to admit that I have some mixed feelings with the later half of the story. Once most of the good plot twists are revealed the story lost a lot of the initial tension that kept me on my toes and kind of just became a lot of info dump for Haruaki as he learns about the "truth" and how to over come it. The solutions were not quite what I expected and one or two of the end game plot twists felt a bit out left field, Raging Loop did have some good foreshadowing to tip you off on some of it.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this VN to anyone who is into Visual Novels with mystery and psychological horror and enjoy plots with really well written characters. The art was definitely not the best, and could have used a little more variety in terms of CGs, but I personally enjoyed the art design for the characters and felt it well above passable. The music and sound in this game is mostly good, but you will hear a lot of the same tracks and sounds repeated. Also there are a lot of dead ends in the game, but it's pretty easy to figure out which lead to right path. Important thing to note though is as you play most paths are closed off to you until you reach certain points in the story and gain certain information, so you will find your self jumping around to points in the story later on as you gain the last few bits of important information to reach the true ending. Thankfully the flow chart makes it easy to see where you need to go.
In conclusion this is one of the better Visual Novels I've read and other than a few minor gripes here and there, I really, really enjoyed this and might even reread again at some point.
