I wasn't sure if buying the fx 6350 or the fx 8350, so I made a really long research about the pros and cons of each cpu. I wasn't going to buy any intel related cpu, because I didn't had the money.
My previous cpu was a phenom ii x4 975 BE 3.6ghz. It was an awesome cpu but some of my games started to lag (stutter). For example, games like Far Cry 3. Then I decided to overclock the phenom 975 BE to 4.0ghz, but that wasn't possible due to the extreme heat that it produced. (Note aside: I know that these cpu can be overclocked to 4.5ghz and over, but that's using water cooling and really big and expensive cases and I stated at the beginning that I was a cheap bastard, err that I didn't wanted to spend a lot of money)
Then, I saw the fx 6350 on sale for $119.00 and I was reading some reviews saying that if you wanted a cpu just for playing games, watching movies and doing a little bit of editing this is the cpu that I was looking for. Another reviewer said that he overclocked his fx 6350 to 4.5ghz, just using the multiplier on the bios. Later, I read a comment saying that this cpu runs as cold as a corpse.
The fx 8350 is the optimal choice for every gamer on a budget, but after reading the reviews I know that spending $119.00 was the right choice. If this were a little more expensive I would have bought the fx 8350 for sure.
To wrap this up; for the $119.00 on sale price, the fact that most of the time I use my pc to play games and do little to none movie editing, and seeing that this is a massive upgrade from any quad core cpu (at least amd quad core), I assure you that you don't need a more expensive option.
PD: *I started to play Far Cry 3 again and the lag issues were gone. (I play on max settings and 1080p)
*I just overclocked this bad boy to 4.4ghz just increasing the multiplier on the bios and the temps doesn't get over 46c on load using a Cooler Master 212 evo as CPU Cooler.
H60 by Corsair seems to be cheap, available here at Amazon and is liquid cooling which is hands down the best, with high reviews.
One more thing is if you buy Intel instead of AMD, there's a likely chance you will end up paying about the same for the simple fact that Intel is far far more energy efficient so your electric bill will be less thus you can get an overall nicer CPU even if it cant overclock.. and with that, if your CPU is already good enough where it doesn't need to be overclocked then that's much better in itself... it's one reason why Apple and many corporations pick Intel. They're both American companies but Intel seems to make more of an effort at keeping jobs at home so thats another perk. I still got this chip knowing all of that though but it's certainly something to think about. :)

I heard a lot about it running hot at stock speeds, but it hasn't gone past 55C under load in a 21C environment. Idle temps are usually around 34C, though with the fans turned up it drops to around 27 degrees! You'll definitely need good cooling if you plan on OCing past 4Ghz.
No bottlenecking's happened with the GPU thus far - ultra high games run smoothly and evenly. FL Studio and Ableton Live both run projects that used to make my old Intel i5-2450M scream in agony without breaking a sweat - from 80% and underruns to 20% and clean output instantly.
My only suggestion/complaint/source of unhappiness... please. For the love of all that is holy.
This box will ship with the CPU inside it, and another smaller box.
Inside of it will be a CPU cooler.
Kick it across the street. Burn it. Feed it to your dog/cat/alpaca, unless you want to put it in your case and listen to the wailing of a thousand banshees.
Awesome aftermarket coolers like the H7 and 212 EVO are both under $40, and your PC will thank you for getting one [tip: get the H7].
The specifications on paper list this CPU as among the highest possible FSB in the FX processor line-up. And it seems to be so. Support for DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz is quite finicky. Corsair dominator oem 1600MHz was downgraded to 1333MHz, no matter how many BIOS adjustments were made. (Many of which produced a non-bootable configuration). Kingston Hyper-X, on the other hand supplied it's oem 1600MHz profile in recognizable format, so a bootable configuration eventually emerged. And even that required further BIOS adjustments to achieve consistent 1600MHz operation.
I'm still sort of holding my fingers crossed, expecting the hardware to secretly default itself backwards to 1333MHz again.

That's why I love this little gem of a processor, its equivalent to a high end i3/low end i5, yet costs less, and has more cores. It also comes with an unlocked multiplier out of the box and a far beefier stock cooler than the pathetic thing that comes with Intel CPUs. Check out LinusTechTips's video on the coolers to see just how well AMD's cooler compares to the competition.
This means that there's no need to buy an after-market cooler on day 1, saving you more money (even more!)
This is marketed as a 6 core chip, and as such uses more power than the more efficient Intel CPUs. Most i5s will also perform better with (far) less power consumption. However this chip is like an inefficient bull in a china shop - running at up to 4.2Ghz - more if you try - and when compared to the quad core FX-4XXX series gives a huge jump in FPS in most games.
It can run a bit warm, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem, buy a couple of Thermaltake Thunderblade 4 Pin LED Fan 8 cm - Red and you'll be good to go.
In conclusion: This is a great CPU for a mid level, price optimized gaming PC. Good features, and a ton of other reviews out there to compare notes, means that this CPU is already well loved by many a gamer and ex console player out there.
FYI this chip runs in (and only in) AM3+ motherboards, make sure you get the right one - and works with DDR3 RAM, I recommend at least 8GB for a gaming system.
There you go - please mark this as helpful if it was, and happy buying :)
Age of Empires III, Portal 2, Dead Space und Assasin's Creed I zeigt die CPU keinerlei Schwächen.
