Oregon PS250 Cordless Pole Saw
The PS250 gives you precision, power, and a telescoping reach for all trimming and pruning jobs.
The mid-mount motor places the PS250's weight (and size) between your hands. This makes it easier to reach hard-to-reach-cuts, and reduces the weight at the end of the pole - improving ergonomics and reducing fatigue.
The PS250 weighs only 13.5lbs with the battery, which means better balance and less fatigue. A shoulder strap is included for additional comfort.

I live on a property that is covered in bush honeysuckle and wild roses. Anyone who has ever had any dealings with these knows what a nightmare this is. I saw a fellow using a pole saw and the light went off in my head that it may be the tool for my job. I ordered this particular one based on other reviews. I am picky about my tools and how I spend my money and I knew this was going to see some serious use so I spent the extra. No regrets on that so far!
Assembly was straight forward but I have a long history with chainsaws and the like. About 10 minutes was what it took me to get it from in the box to ready to work. Seems well made, nothing is flimsy. It is on the heavy side, just about what a gas unit weighs, so not terrible. If you have a bad back or weak arms, you will want to carefully consider that it is no lightweight. It does come with a shoulder strap this is adequate and semi-comfortable. Naturally, I had to charge the battery, so I had to wait the better part of 2 hours before I could put it to the test.
On the first charge, I trimmed quite a few low hanging limbs off some oaks and cedars in my yard. It cut through 3" oak almost as fast as my 16" chainsaw. Then I checked the battery and it was still full but the chain needed tension. Adjustment was quick and easy. Then the real work began. In all, it saw about 2.5 hours of hard use before the battery was ready for a charge. It worked great! I could extend it and stand well clear of the branches while i sawed the middle out of 10 foot tall bushes. That is a big plus when thorns are involved. I did adjust the chain tension one more time during that use.
Hopefully I will be singing this same song for the long term, but for right now, I am one happy buyer (and that is an increasingly rare thing nowadays;-).
The good:
- excellent power but make sure you start the motor before dipping into a branch
- crazy long runtime with the 6ah battery
- great build quality with one exception (see "the bad" below)
- Excellent design and pole
- Intuitive user experience
The bad:
- pole to compression adjustment fitting sucks and will come loose if tipped down while trimming low branches (I suggest using structural grade silicone to permanently fasten the red compression fitting to the pole at the motor end)
Other than the bad I listed above, I freaking love this thing soooo much I bought their chainsaw too which I have no bad things to say about.
The Good:
1. Chain is sharp out of the box, and will quickly make short work of any reasonable limb.
2. Build quality is good, the pole is a rigid fiberglass giving it plenty of rigidity and heft.
3. Blade / chain combo will take down big limbs when using proper limb cutting technique... but you still need to not be an idiot, you can certainly bind this in a folding limb if you're not careful, but that's your fault, not the saw's.
4. Although a tad long, it's a fantastic saw for cutting out small trees like hedge at the base, makes short work of them.
5. Very comfortable to run for extended periods. I recently picked up a Stihl gas powered saw after the battery on my Oregon died to cut for a while... I quietly put the gas powered saw down shortly afterwards as the vibration from the motor through the pole made it terribly unconformable on the hands to run. There is no vibration with the electric saw, it's great to run.
The "Consider Carefully":
1. The battery life is plenty if trimming around your residential property or hanging a couple of treestands. It's not going to keep you cutting all day if you're trying to do some clearing. You'll get a couple hours out of a battery with relatively constant cutting, so plan on extras if that's your intended use.
2. The chain / blade guard is held in by a bolt with a plastic / finger-tightened top. It will occasionally lose tension and cause the chain to slip from the bar. It's fairly quick to fix, and not a problem unique to this saw, but it would be nice if we had a way to tension this differently.
