A bit of a learning curve. I'm a fountain pen fan and never used a dip pen before. I haven't used this nib a ton, but every time I do it still looks as good as new after. I've seen videos of people using this exact nib doing some amazing calligraphy, hopefully I'll get there one day.

This is a hard nib to master if you've only used pointed non-flexible or italic nibs before. I had to clean this 3 times with hot water, soap, spit, fire, and toothpaste before I could get a proper ink flow (Speedball SuperBlack ink). Even so, the flexible nature causes a lot of railroading or ink blobs if you're not careful and steady-handed.

My calligraphy has never looked so great now that I've (almost) figured out how to use it. It takes practice, but my letters have that thick-thin look that's normally associated with the spencerian or copperplate lettering. The tines don't spread as far as I expected so I won't be using this for large writing, but 0.5" tall letters work well for this nib. That's perfect for birthday and other handwritten cards (my primary use).

The price for this one is probably more than I should have paid. i realized later that I could get this nib cheaper elsewhere, but it's still a good nib and a classic one.

These nibs have a lot of flex to them. They are great for larger lettering, or any time you just want a really wide stroke. The tines are soft, so a little pressure goes a long ways in terms of stroke width.
Most reviews also mention them being a bit iffy to start at times, most often with a thicker ink. I have found this to be the case, but if you put a little lateral pressure to one tine (pressing them together, not apart) I've found this will get it to start most of the time. Definitely one of my favorites.

This nib really seems to hold a ton of ink. I can write for several sentences before I run out of ink, which I love. I'm not a calligrapher, I just enjoy using a dip pen for writing in my junk journals. Highly recommend this nib. Just make sure you prep the nib by removing the oil from it before its first use and it will write like a dream.

Tip: this may sound gross, but using a little saliva on a tissue to gently rub the oil off the nib works great. You can also rub a little 90% alcohol on it. If you do not prep your nib, it will hold very little ink. And I find Sumi ink works wonderfully with the nib as well.

1 for the tips was bent out of the box and wouldn’t go back into position. 1 bent on second use and wouldnt bend back into position on something that’s supposed to be high flexible. i also used a little pressure as i could. the last one works good but if i didn’t have good paper it would bleed to a unreadable amount. this isnt my particular cup of tea but from multiple articles praising this product i assume its a lot of other peoples, i say that because it might be better for you. just keep them if they’re bad and return them. Also i’ve tried a lot of nibs from articles and realized that either you should just do your own thing because almost all that i bought from articles are awful for me.

I wanted this nib to use with watercolor to sign my paintings. I didn't have occasion to use it after buying it, and it stayed in the package for quite a while. When I went to use it, I saw that the tines of the tip were crossed, and did not line up beside each other. They do split open when I press it on paper, but then go back to crossing over each other. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, it just won't write! The ink does not flow at all. Yes, I had lots of ink on it, and covered the holes completely with it. I have cleaned the tip, tried using watercolor, then tried it with ink. Nothing works. It won't start writing. It is quite a disappointment.

I learned to write in Arabic with reed pens which are much larger. I wanted to write smaller now that I know the alphabet and can put words together, so I found out I should use Hatat nibs. I am still having trouble writing from right to left with them. These are good quality nibs, so I suppose it is a matter of me getting used to holding the nib in a certain position. I find that the ink doesn't flow when I drag it to the left, where as with the reed pen I have no problems with the consistent flow of ink. I also can not make the nice clean angles even tho the nib is flat.
