I don't like the fact that received an used product

I don't like the fact that received an used product
First things first, I don't like the fact that received an used product. I mean you've sent me a product that was returned to you by an unsatisfied customer and I'm perfectly ok with that but at least I expect it to be properly packed and sealed if possible and I expect it to be in good cosmetic condition. But when I received the product it was not packed properly and I can clearly see all the tiny winy scratches and black marks due to all the previous plugging and unplugging. At least they might have used an alcohol wipe to clean it (They clearly didn't put an effort in checking the condition of the product when it was sent back to them). So this causes automatic reduction of one star. Before going to tell you why I opted to remove another star, let me tell you about the things I love about this one.The number one reason I liked this product is it feels and looks premium. I really love the design. And the fact that it has the base to make the adapter stationery helped more to the design. Tha cables are small which is what I'm kind of looking for. We get Two cables( One USB C and One USB 3.0), I can use the second cable for my second HDD. Read write speeds are decent for a USB C adapter. And as you can silver is kind of my basic theme for my laptop setup and it perfectly blends into my setup. Thumbs up!!Now regarding the second-star removal. Some times when I can connect both my hard disks at a time, which I normally do I'm getting some strange noise from the hard disks like the noise they make during irregular magnetic spins. I'm worried that this may cause a data loss one day. But again this is my first day with the device and I will see what I can do about it and will update if there are any other things.

I really like the portability, (fits easily in a pocket/desk drawer/side pocket of your back pack etc) build quality and design of the multi port/card usb 3.0 type C hub. Its got an eye catching round design, has 3 usb 3.0 ports on the back, a microSD card slot and a regular SD card slot reader on the front. It comes with 2 cables to hook up to your computer, each is about 1 ft long (perfect for portability with my laptop) one has a regular usb male that you would connect to the usb port on your computer and the other cable option is for those devices with USB C or thunderbolt ports. My new laptop has a thunderbolt 3 port and only 2 USB ports but no microSD or SD card slot so I picked this one up so that I would have the ability to connect multiple thumb drives and the occasional microSD card to my laptop while on the go. I have a usb hub at my desk but I was tired of unplugging it and plugging it back in after taking it with me in my backpack so now I can have one for on the go (school, work and so forth) and leave my desk one hooked up to my desktop at home. I have some "fat" usb devices and some are small and all fit fine except I was not able to fit 2 "fat" drives next to each other as it was a tight fit but with a small thumb drive in-between them it was no problem (see the included pictures). The hub is dependent on the power from the device you plug it into and some computer usb ports only have enough power for thumb drives and not multi platter portable hard disk drives so before you blame the hub for your device not showing up in windows you might want to see how much power your usb port provides or try it on a thunderbolt/usb C port to see if that has enough power to power the hard disk drive you are plugging in, some portable hard drives have multiple platters and need more power to spin them up. I had no problem powering up a 1tb portable western digital drive through the hub while having a thumb drive also plugged into one of the other ports. Ive had this hub for about 2 weeks now and it has worked perfectly. I like the looks of it, it is built well and looks to hold up from day to day use/wear and tear/bouncing around in a backpack/etc and it might even hold up to an accidental drop or 2 but I wont be testing that, lol.

I've had this thing for about 10 months. It worked very well the whole time and it just decided it was done. Nothing has changed as far as where I've been using it. It hasn't been unplugged and plugged back in but only a couple times as it's just sat on my desk. Now it doesn't work and of course it's when I really need it to. I will pass on this brand next time as there is no support from the company at all if you have a problem.

Item: UNITEK Aluminum USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C 3-Port Data Hub with SD/Micro SD/TF Card Reader for New MacBook, ChromeBook, HP Pavilion X2. (Equipped with practical two cable type C to micro B, A to micro B)

Laptop: MacBook Pro 13 inch Late 2016 Release (A1708)

So far I have only connected a flash drive and portable hard drive to it, and it has worked great with those items. There was a bit of a lag in watching movies off my flash drive, but the further it got into the movie it worked fine. That same file worked fine when watching on my phone (Galaxy Note 5). When I plugged in my portable hard drive, which contains all my family photos and videos it pulled everything up really fast with no delays when scrolling up and down in the large icon view.

I have personal issues with the design, but I'll get over it.
(1)The power outlet on the device is really close to the USB port next to it.
(2) I would prefer for the power plug in be on the side of the device, rather than on the back.
(3)I wish that there were little rubber stoppers on the bottom of the device so that it could stay in place.

The product works good, has every slot that you need that the new MacBook does not provide. I am satisfied with my purchase.

Same issues as noted by a couple other folks. Will need to return the product. Really wanted to like it though.

Cons:
1. Kills my WIFI on my 2016 Macbook Pro. Bizarre, I know but true.
2. Does not work with a wireless mouse. I specifically am using a logitech m510.

Pros:
1. Looks great.
2. Solid build.
