Crank (The Gibson Boys Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 6,663 ratings

An Amazon Top 3 Bestseller

Crank is a standalone romance in a new small town, blue-collar series from USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke. Join readers everywhere as they fall in love with the delicious Gibson Boys.

This is one mistake Sienna Landry can't buy her way out of.

As Walker Gibson looks at her, then at the damage to his precious truck (that she may or may not have accidentally inflicted), she knows she's in trouble. It's not the busted headlight and dented grill that's sunk her though. The downright sinful man in front of her is the problem.

The small-town mechanic is broody. Rough. Smells like engine grease and gasoline and Sienna isn't sure why that's so sexy, but it is. It so is. She's ready to peel off her panties at the drop of his wrench.

He wants her too. She can feel it when he brushes against her. Experience it as he presses her against the wall of the shop. It's thinly veiled in his deep, brown eyes when he looks at her like she's everything he's ever wanted.

So why won't he give in?

The damage to Walker's truck is the first of many mistakes between them, ending with truths that rock Sienna's world. Nothing can fix her broken heart except the love of a man who won't, maybe even can't, love her back.

It seems like I’ve waited forever to have the last Landry fall in love and plan her future and I must say, I’m kinda disappointed. However I’ve kept in mind that this isn’t a Landry story but a Gibson one and I’m still not terrible thrilled at the start of this story. The only character I have a strong interest in is Peck, everyone else was barely developed and was there to just be furniture in scenes. They didn’t add anything of value to the story or make you wonderful what they were up to off-scene.
Considering we’ve been learning bits and pieces about Sienna since book 1 of the Landry series, I’m surprised we didn’t get more familial interactions with her family or at least with her twin sister. I get that she’s been doing this project/business for over a year… but there were no new mentions of what her nieces and nephews were up to and it was just odd.
So why the four stars? Simple, if this was just a story that didn’t have characters we were already familiar with, this would’ve been enough to get me invested. Because as an individual “stand alone” story this is truly great. However, it’s not quite a new world with unfamiliar characters and that’s where it loses its luster. Sadly this is like book 7 in this world and I’m just bored and uninterested.
I think I’ll only read Peck’s story because no one else really mattered.

When Sienna accidentally smashes Walker’s truck with a baseball bat it sets off a series of events that takes them both by surprise. Then she comes to his shop to apologize and ends up working there. Walker doesn’t do relationships. But he can’t dismiss his feelings for Sienna and she is the same way. She charms his customers, makes friends with his grandmother and all his family are in love with her. But when something from his past he has never told her about comes to light it might just end their relationship.

I love stories with close families. Walker’s are a riot, especially Peck. He plays a big part in the story. I enjoyed this and best part is the feeling it left me with.

“As we get farther away, the air clearing of Sienna’s perfume, I realize it’s not suggestions I need. It’s a heavy dose of self-control.”
This is the first book in a very long time that has absorbed me. ABSORBED. ME. I was literally engrossed by 9% in. I felt like I was standing with these two in the parking lot just watching beauty unfold.

THE GIBSON FAMILY! I am seriously so in love. I don’t know if I can say this without someone calling me out on all my Landry obsessing, but … this Gibson clan has seriously stolen my heart. These men are an amazing mix of all the goodness of small town, the shenanigans of brothers, and the true affection of men with pure hearts. I can’t put into words the feeling I get whenever they are together. Also, I’m calling Peck right now. #dibsonPeck #heishilarious #MollydoesNOTdeservehim My favorite, though — Nana!

“Before I know what’s happening, my laughter fills the room. “You tell him, Mrs. Gibson,” I say, then cover my mouth with one hand. “First, call me Nana,” she corrects. “Second, don’t cover your mouth. Women around here have to speak up or we’re never heard. Remember that.”
This woman is the epitome of matriarch. She is warm, confident, sassy, and she takes NOTHING from these boys. With her as the leader of this clan, it’s no wonder they have such hearts and such … style 😉

Now, let’s talk about Walker. Walker is … well, he’s umm … Walker is a huge jerk (that’s putting it mildly). From the beginning he is hot and cold with Sienna, like HOT and COOOOOLD. This man puts many other book heroes to shame with his flipping back & forth. Even though he keeps flopping and flipping back and forth, there is still something about him that gives me some hope. I can’t put my finger on just what it is, but every once in a while we get a glimpse of the goodness that he seems to be struggling to keep contained.

“His jaw sets, one leg crossing over the other. “You think you have everything figured out, don’t you?”
“No, quite the opposite. I don’t think I have the first thing figured out about you.”
Sienna is a much tougher woman than I am. Seriously, with the whiplash that Walker caused, I’d have been out of there much sooner than she was. You can feel the pull between these two, and this is something … different. I’m not sure how to accurately describe what I was feeling as Sienna and Walker’s interactions grew. But no matter the pull, the way that Walker was making me feel (and none of this was directed at me), made me want to just run away.

Seriously, y’all, I don’t have the words to appropriately convey what I felt while reading this book. In a lot of my reviews I’ll say I loved the characters and loved the world, but this story was something … different. I didn’t just fall in love with this place, but I became connected to it almost instantly, and there is no way I can make you feel the way I do. Although, I can say, this story has just joined my top rated series, so no pressure on the next one Adriana 😉

“Just a few months ago, I didn’t know where I belonged and I definitely didn’t think it was in a place with cornfields and snowstorms. But I was wrong. You belong in a place where you can plant your roots and feel safe enough to let them grow. You belong somewhere your tank is filled as much as you take from it. You belong in the little niche of the world where you can’t imagine waking up anywhere different.”

I liked the characters of this book but it was boring. I'm not sure if I'll read the other books?

Having met some of the Gibson boys in Lucky Number 11, I enjoyed the authors work there and wanted to find out more about these guys!

This is the first book of the series. Cute, confident heroine and super grumpy hero (It takes a good part of the book to figure out why he is so grumpy), but their banter is fun, and the side characters are pretty strong, too. Peck is one of my favorite side characters. He is so sweet but sassy (yep, a sassy guy!).

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked Walker & Sienna
Reviewed in Canada on November 23, 2022
I liked the dynamic of this couple. Totally different backgrounds but it was a non-issue. I liked his family because they were interesting enough not to make me want to know more about hers. They were revealed just enough to get a sense of who they were and how they shaped who she is. If I had to find something to dislike, despite their antics, I don't care enough to want to ensure I read the next books in the series. This one was a fun read and I recommend it, you might feel differently and be curious enough to read the others in the series. ...I don't want to post this on Amazon because I want no part of influencing someone to skip it and miss out if they allow my thoughts to lead their decisions. I like this author and who knows, I might change my mind once I read the summary of what's coming next...stranger things have happened.

As well as being the start of a new series, this book is also a bit of an end to the much Loved Landry Series by this author, being Sienna Landry and Walker Gibson’s story. Firstly i have to say…

MOVE OVER LANDRY’S, THE GIBSON’S ARE HERE !!

Walker Landry, is a grumpy, broody Mechanic, and isn’t overly happy to leave his brother’s bar one night to find a strikingly beautiful Blonde battering his car with a baseball bat !!! Well holy crap i wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, so to say i was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement!!!

Sienna Landry has definitely got herself into hot water when she crosses paths with Walker Gibson. Just at a time when she is pondering returning home, the depth of her attraction to him has her re-evaluating everything she has always wanted or expected in her life. Working at “Crank” to pay off the cost of the damage she caused to his car, she finds her attraction and confusion to Walker Gibson growing, right along with her affection for his brothers and family.

Walker is determined not to get involved with Sienna and does everything to push her away. Until he can’t deny what’s happening.

Well what can i say, This book right from beginning to end had me in a tizzy !! I adored these brothers and the humor, yet underneath all these laughs, i felt my emotions building towards both Walker and Sienna. This story is written with heart and soul. I loved that Walker was a man i could so easily identify with, not a billionaire, not a mobster, just a man, an everyday man with life’s scars and heartaches. The chemistry between Walker and Sienna was hotter than hades, and you will definitely need a fan to cool down !!! You are gonna need a fan anyhow because all these brother’s are HOT!! This love between Sienna and Walker had my heart fit to burst with joy, and i could see their perfect ending in front of me. Then, thank you Adriana !! My heart was burst and the tears flowed !! How could they come back from this? Well ya gotta read it, because believe me those Walker boys will not give up on getting what is theirs !!! Adriana Locke has set a whole new standard with Crank. This book has definitely jumped way into my tops of this year and my tops of books by Adriana Locke. Need more Gibson boys now !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Loved It!

This is my first read by this author and let me just say, I absolutely loved this book!!!

This story pulls you in from the get go. The first chapter introduces you to all the important characters i.e. The Gibson brothers - Walker, Lance, Machlan and their cousin Peck, and Sienna Landry and her friend/business partner Delaney. The setting is in the small town of Linton, Illinois.

Sienna is an amazing FMC. She’s strong, independent and wants to live her life her own way. She moves to Linton to escape her overwhelming life in Savannah, Georgia, and to get away from the limelight and cameras her family is constantly under; her father is a politician. She has four brothers (Graham, Barrett, Lincoln and Ford) and a twin sister Camilla that she loves and misses dearly.

Walker is a really great MMcharacter. He’s a gorgeous, quiet and very broody. He has also had a lot to deal with in his past (especially where women are concerned), so getting romantically involved with Sienna was a Big NoNo for him. But Sienna managers to sneaked up on him and before he knows it, he’s falling so fast, there’s no turning back.

This book is sweet and heartwarming, with a great and sexy storyline. It truly has some seriously loveable characters and you will absolutely fall in love with all the Gibson men.

If you’re looking for a small town blue collar romance novel to read that is really well written and very funny, then look no further because this book is for you!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love the truths in this book
Reviewed in Canada on February 10, 2024
This is one of Adriana Locke’s older books and a bit less light-hearted. The Gibson Boys series is very promising if this book one sets the tone.

I wish the reasons for Walker’s not telling Sienna his truth were more a little more fleshed out and I feel Sienna’s reaction was a bit over the top, but I loved their attraction — and off course, the HEA.

A solid read and though I stayed up way late to finish, it’s worth the lack of sleep!
