The Black Ryder’s second album, The Door Behind The Door, is the sound of a musical partnership double-downing and going for broke. The follow-up to their very successful debut album, Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride, is a darker, deeper, more intense adventure into a musical world that few ever get just right. But in the five years that came between releases, Aimee Nash and Scott Von Ryper divorced and moved to Los Angeles. If this album has a touch of David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive to it, then a song like “Let Me Be Your Light” makes it worth it all.
