Product Description
Dangerous Driving is a brand-new game where there is only one way to drive - dangerously. From the creative talent behind the genre-defining Burnout series, Dangerous Driving puts aggression back into the racing, recapturing the spirit of the past and elevating it to new heights. Built with the spirit of classic arcade racers of the 80's and 90's, Dangerous Driving allows you to explore those dark fantasies of high-speed, reckless driving through traffic infested cities across the globe. Put the pedal to the metal and weave in and out of traffic or just outright slam other cars right off the road. In this racer, it's all about speed, aggression and driving skills as you drift, weave, demolish, and takedown anything that stands between you and the finish line. Purchase the physical edition of the game and get a copy of Danger Zone 2!

The graphics are ok, not state of the art, but when I saw the use of the “Unreal” engine i didn't expect much anyways (not for a racing game, at least) The car designs are ok, too but also not as smooth and skillfull as i had wished.
For me personally the camera angle while driving is too low, too. You can’t really see if the track is turning right or left in a lot of situation which can be frustrating but as it is not an open world game you can memorize the tracks.
The two main things that are the reason for my 3 Star rating are:
a) the most horrible sound I have ever had in a racing game (and where the heck is the soundtrack? Trying to force me to buy a spotify account to have music in a game is NOT what i expect from a game that always stood out in fantastic rocking race music) and
b) The crashes simply suck. I mean, cmon. this is the supposed to be successor of the game series with the best crash scenes ever! (including Burnout Paradise) I was expecting open mouth, awe inspiring crashes and camera views that would let you cringe when you see the cars being ripped apart while flipping over 5 billion times. Instead all there is, is a short scened, lovelessly created thump of metal. The cars don't “deflate” as you are used to and, due to the horrible sound effects, the whole crash feels like a drawback to the 80s arcade machine sound. And No, that is not retro cool, as it was not supposed to be like that. Pre release reviews even mentioned the sound to be one of the few positive standouts of this game. But i guess that was either not for the PS4 version or they fubared in the official release.
Maybe i simply need to stop comparing it to the Burnout Series as I don’t think it’s worthy successor. But even rated as “new” Game I would not give more than 3 Stars.
Anyway, I’ll continue playing in the desperate hope that it might get better with updates (version 1.02 is already out) before I give up and declare that Driving Dangerous is burned out for me.

I had been eyeing this game since the first trailer but after watching it a couple times, the third time had me a little skeptical. I knew the team was scaled back (remarkably it's like only six or eight people) but the physics seemed off. I knew this wouldn't quite be the Burnout of the PS2 games (2 through Revenge and Dominator were all favourites of my teenage years) but I thought 'hey I'll support them so they can keep building and creating'. The interview with gameinformer.com got me even more stoked as the developer projected such enthusiasm and seemed the proudest of this in his accomplishments. Well, his sales pitch worked on me and while I feel a little suckered I still want the guy and his small team to do well and keep creating and maybe one day we'll get a true Burnout or something akin to it.
Let me say the graphics aren't that bad but there are so many weird glitches, problems where you clip through traffic where you should have crashed and alternately many instances I shouldn't have crashed where I did. Once the game loaded my car face down on the track and the worst time was when I passed the finish line while crashing in lap 3/3 which in any other racer would be a cool photo finish but in this game they didn't count it as a finish. Thankfully I lamely was able to do a fourth lap and finish first again as if it was the third but man I was bummed out at such a dumb glitch. If the rubberbanding AI didn't completely turn off I would have struggled to regain the position, but I felt just done with the game that had been the final straw.
I hope they keep patching this game but I'm not very confident they will keep supporting it. If they do I'll go back and give it a test drive and offer up another take.
