I love when an author comes up with something a bit different, and the concept of a demon possessed demon hunter certainly is that (and how this came about makes perfect sense, so cudos on that too). The demon inside, whom she nicknamed Alphonse, hides his time, healing and waiting to claim her soul.

First in a promising new series, 'Sailor Ray and the Darkest Night' by Alex Villavasso is a book that is definitely worth reading.
It is full of action, has lots of thrills and intrigue and features a well defined fascinating character - Sailor Ray who thinks she is independent and strong. Sailor Ray is a demon hunter who has an inner demon. She is possessed because of a pact made with the demon. This first book focuses on her relationship with this demon. Her dilemma is whether she is able to trust him. It is interesting to see the chemistry and interaction as the two argue, fight and banter on how to face the many challenges and how things should be done.
With likeable, believable and amusing characters, it is an engaging read that is humorous at times but is also full of many twists and surprises.
Well written, it has a good plot and a unique and interesting storyline that holds the reader's attention from the beginning.
The excellent book cover is an asset to the story line.

Sailor Ray and the Darkest Night (The Pact Book 1) by Alex Villavasso is a wonderful fantasy book about a hunter of demons that is possessed herself. I really liked the concept and the action, intrigue, fight scenes, the tough but not heartless woman hero, and the great plot. The only thing that I didn't like and I always gets to me is ...Cliff hanger! It would have been a 5 star to me if it wouldn't have been a cliff hanger. My pet peeve. But a great book anyway. I ding all books that are cliff hangers, it is just my thing that bothers me. :)

This is not a book. It is the first section of what may (or may not) someday be a complete story. It stops mid stream while the heroine is captured and being tortured, while a vague someone may (or may not) be trying to find/rescue her. Not even a tiny interim conclusion. The only reason for 2 stars is that there is an interesting premise, but I am done. There are 3 books out in the series, but no assurance as to how many are planned and when something may conclude. Yo can fool me for one "book", but not more.

An urban Fantasy were the hunter Demon Hunter who is Possesed herself. I found it to be a great book with a great bit of sarcasm but also very serious. Its a great read. It has a great cast of Characters. I also like the way she instills her way into investigating. This is a fantastic series. The Author Alex done a great job with bringing out the character and explaining to you how to huntress became possessed.

I had a hard time getting into this book right from the beginning. Maybe it was the way that Sailor changed when she was killing the demon. She is a bad as demon hunter but it was like a switch flipped and her personality went a little psychotic. I don't know. I did like her interaction with the demon that possesses her. There is a cliffhanger so be warned.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

Sailor Ray is a very likeable character, as is the demon she hosts. The story is well written, and gives enough information from the past, to explain the present. (Not many stories do that now a days.)
Most of the time, Sailor is fighting for her life so we don't get a lot of character from that, though through her conversations with her demon, we get a sense of who she is, what she wants, and who she can be.

In future books, I would like to see more interaction between her and her demon. What can I say, I'm a sucker for romance. ;)

I really enjoyed this book. A great concept, a demon possessed demon hunter out to revenge the death of her parents. After her mother was killed by demons, Sailor Ray and her father became hunters of the supernatural. On the day her father was killed by demons, Sailor Ray made a pact with a demon. In exchange for her life, she promised the demon, whom she nick-named Al, her body as a vessel and once her revenge was obtained, her soul was his. Great plot, great action, tough heroine, clever dialogue with her resident demon, graphic violence and a most frustrating cliff hanger end.
