Most of the stories in the Cocky Hero Club world are not lengthy novels which is one of the things that attracted me to this world back in 2020, the other being the potential to meet new-to-me authors, which I am always up for. Reckless Rebound allowed me to get lost in a thoroughly enjoyable story from beginning to end with characters you want to be in your life. For me, if I can transport myself into a story and feel at ease, that’s a #winning story! Brooke O’Brien did that with this story and I loved it! It’s a story you devour in mere hours because you just can’t get enough of everything! #trust

Reckless Rebound by Brooke O’Brien is a stand-alone sports romance inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s ‘Playboy Pilot’, part of the ‘Cocky Hero Club’. It also contains the basketball team and couple from the universe Brooke O’Brien created in ‘Personal Foul’, part of the ‘Men of Blaze’ series. However, that did not prevent me from reading and enjoying this book as a stand-alone read and I devoured it all in one whole sitting. I loved our male lead Jaxsen, I thought he was peak book boyfriend material and swoon-worthy. I loved watching his character develop over time from when we first met the angry, jaded man that let anger get the best of him. I loved our female leads best friend Cody, he was hilarious and I couldn’t get enough of him. I really enjoyed the love and support the characters had for each other.
A great quick read, perfect for a free afternoon or to get you out of a slump or to simply enjoy. A definite thumbs up from me

5 Star Review Reckless Rebound (Cocky Hero Club) by Brooke O’Brien
Brooke O’Brien is a new author to me and that is one of the things I have loved the most about reading books in the Cocky Hero Club; I have discovered so many new authors to read.
Although not a long book Ms. O’Brien packed a lot into this entertaining read about Miami Blaze NBA player Jaxsen Wild and Emmy, the woman who explodes into his life when they bump into each other after their flight is cancelled.
The fact that Emmy has no idea who he is, was an added bonus. Neither were looking for love, just a night of fun, but to their surprise their attraction ignites. Jaxsen is totally swoon worthy and a bit of a player but once he meets Emmy he falls hard. I loved how supportive and caring they were of one another as their relationship progressed.
I loved their story and I was cheering for them to get their happily ever after.

The connection to the Cocky Hero Club universe was tenuous, and the book seemed to have more references to the author’s other series. Which was challenging, as she was new to me. But I got enough information to get who all those characters were. And it didn’t hinder my pleasure at all.
It was mostly a sports romance, with some sports inside. A bit of action on the basketball court, some team bonding, some behind the scene. All of this was used to develop Jaxsen’s character: talented, dedicated to his sports, generous, a friendly teammate, and a bit of a hothead. This last trait, though, felt a bit forced. With Wild as his name, and being introduced by a scene where he’s scolded for his attitude, he was supposed to be a troublemaker only tamed by Emerson. We never see that side of him, and most of his anger is justified.
There were some inconsistencies with Emerson’s character too. She’s just broken up with her boyfriend because he’s cheated on her and it’s suggested a few times that she’s a bit insecure, yet she’s a real vixen when it comes to Jaxsen, and she stands up against him several times. I loved it when she was fierce though. Considering the various challenges she faces by being in a relationship with Jaxsen, she needed to be.
Though there’s a special attraction between them right from the start, it comes mostly from the tension their encounters had created. At least, that’s how I felt. The fact that Emerson does her best to keep their one night stand a one time occurrence, helped with keeping the fire alive. She pushes, he insists. In the end, she falls. They both do. There were a couple of very cute scenes.
The sexy frustrated me. There’s a lot of heat, and some intense sessions, but they all cut before the main course. Orgasm denial at its best. Not for the characters, hopefully, but we aren’t privy to them.
It looks like I only have negative things to say, and it isn’t the case at all. I enjoyed this book a lot despite its flaws. A few conflicts are hinted at–other woman, secret, scandal…-but they’re all nipped in the bud. Being made for each other isn’t just a saying here. It was kind of refreshing not to see people in love with each other just break things off for a stupid reason. I would have loved to see more of the falling in love, not just the already infatuated.

ARC READ. I randomly found this book's arc sign up and I've been craving basketball romance, so I signed up. I picked up the book and I was instantly hooked! I love the chemistry between the characters. It was so delicious and steamy! I appreciated that the basketball aspect was kept as real as possible - even mentioning my Milwaukee!!! Yayyy! I will definitely pick up more books by this author

Reckless Rebound is a standalone Sports Romance book part of the Cocky Hero Club world and tells the story of Emmy and Jaxsen.
It’s been a while since I read a book by Brooke O’Brien and since I read a Sports Romance book so when I saw the sign up for an ARC of Reckless Rebound, I had to sign up. And I’m so glad that I did. Reckless Rebound was such an amazing, well-written and fast-paced read! I kept on reading and reading, and I finished this book in one sitting. Brooke O’Brien did such a good job with this book and I truly enjoyed reading Emmy and Jaxsen’s story!
Reckless Rebound is about Emmy, a flight attendant who loves fashion, and Jaxsen, a basketball player. Both characters were so interesting, and I liked reading in both perspectives. I think that Emmy and Jaxsen were so cute together, and I loved reading their happy ending. One thing that I also really liked was that we got to read about Sydney and Colson, characters from Personal Foul, the first book in the Men of Blaze series. It was so fun reading about them again!
Reckless Rebound was an amazing Sports Romance book and it made me want to read more Sports Romance books again. I’ve read so many good books in this genre and I don’t really know why I stopped. Brooke O’Brien is a talented author and I really enjoyed reading her other books, and I’m so excited to check out some new books of her that I haven’t read yet. If you’re looking for a good Sports Romane book that will put a smile on your face, then I highly recommend Reckless Rebound by Brooke O’Brien!

It's the first book by Brooke O'Brien that I read and I loved it!
Reckless Rebound is a sports romance about an NBA player named Jaxsen and a flight attendant named Emmy. When they first meet, we get some enemies to lovers’ vibes and I loved their conversations. Next, they have an one-night stand and the rest is history.
I really liked the love story; it was funny, cute, sexy, steamy and loveable. Brooke's writing was great; I could definitely fall in love with both characters. Emmy is funny and very cute; she is bratty and I could certainly relate with her. Jaxsen is handsome, very handsome actually, but definitely very down to earth; he is boyfriend/husband material for sure and he is totally in my long list of book boyfriends. Last but not least, the smutty part was very hot and OMG... amazing!
I read the book in almost one sitting, and overall, I loved it! Just read it!

The chemistry between these two....HOT!!!!
Jaxson Wild is a star basketball player that has gotten into some trouble, he spends an incredible night with Emmy, but then she gives him a fake number. Fate intervenes and they see each other again. Jaxson is not about to lose her again.
I loved this story. The chemistry between the two is insane! And how Jaxson "woos" her and makes sure that he will not lose again is so sweet. You can tell that he really cares for her. They also have a very mature relationship and talk everything out, so there is no miscommunication happening! So many sweet moments in this book!

I enjoyed reading this this delightful book by Brooke. This was a fun, feel good book that was well written and just totally enjoyable. I devoured this sports romance story and it’s part of The Cocky Hero Club but can be read as a standalone. I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion.

I so loved Reckless Rebound, and Emmy and Jaxsen!! The chemistry between them was there from the moment they meet and just grows stronger the more time they spend together. Of course there was some devine intervention at play here especially when Emmy tries to give Jaxsen the slip the first night they spend time together, but he ends up finding her by chance when he goes for a fitting for a suit and Emmy is the one who helps him. From that meeting on, they start spending more time together, and start to learn things about each other. They have more in common then either realize, Emmy has just ended a relationship and is not to quick to trust right now...Jaxsen is basically feeling the same as Emmy where trust is concerned because in his experience women only want him for what he can do for them, and the size of his....bank account, see Jaxsen is a big deal basketball star in the NBA, not that Emmy has ANY clue who he is, not that it matters to her even once she finds out, but Jaxsen has never had anyone want him for just him, so Emmy is a very pleasant surprise!! There is a development in their relationship that neither was expecting, and Emmy is actually surprised by his reaction. There are some difficult times too that they have to push through but you will absolutely love how they deal with all the ups and downs, and now I want to go and read more from Brooke and will at some point. Y'all need to read this book, I know you will love it as much as I did!!

Jaxsen is the bad boy of the NBA, and the latest stunt has him in some trouble, and if he doesn't clean up his act, well, his career could be in serious jeopardy. I know, the talking heads love to make a situation worse for a story when it comes to athletes, so there's that as Jaxsen isn't quite the bad boy he's made out to be. Emmy swore off men after catching her ex cheating, and she's not even close to thinking about tipping her toes back in the dating pool. Jaxsen isn't after anything serious either because he's never sure if the woman wants him for him or who he is, so they agree upon a one night stand together after some flight issues. Jaxsen realizes she doesn't know who he is, not to mention the fact that they're scorching hot together, so he decides that he wants more, but will he actually talk Emmy into that?! There's also the press who buzz around Jaxsen since he sells stories, so there's that as well. I LOVED this story, especially the fact Jaxsen fell first which is very much appreciated. So yeah, everyone needs this book in their lives as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

OMG! Reckless Rebound was everything, I loved it so much. It took me a little more than 3 hours to finish it and I just devoured every word.
Jaxsen Wild is your typical ball player- on and off the court, with a hot temper. It’s that temper that gets him in trouble, and suspended. While he’s at the airport heading home he runs into Emmy, who’s getting over a cheating ex. After they share one amazing night and he asks for her number, she gives him her ex’s!
A couple weeks later when he shows up to her work place for a suit fitting, they’re both surprised. It’s not long before they’re seeing each other and things get serious, then Emmy gets the shock of her life! The last thing she wants is make Jaxsen feel like she’s trapped him, especially when he’s made it cleared how people just want a piece of his name and money.
This book was really really good! I loved seeing them come together and deal with all the haters and the media. They stood strong and together even when they had rumors spreading and a jealous ex fling trying to stir trouble. I’d love to see another book about this couple a few years later and see where life’s taken them!

Jaxsen and Emmy’s story was one of those feel good books that I flew through in just a few hours. There was chemistry and heat and an amazing progression of their relationship that wasn’t forced or rushed, it was just simply organic. I loved that they each had their own passions and continued to pursue their dreams while also dedicating time to get to know one another. Even when drama started to creep up the angst was just the perfect amount. I absolutely love Brooke’s writing style and this is just one more amazing book that I will be recommending to all my romance reader friends.

This might be my favorite book by the author.
Jaxsen was the perfect mmc. He was sweet, protective, sexy as hell and just everything u want in a boyfriend/husband. Him and Emmy had a very sweet and intense connection. At the time that they met neither of them wanted a serious relationship but as they spent more and more time together they started to fall for each other.
There was not too much drama which I liked. There was a ex problem but it was more of an annoying fly than an actual problem. It was a quick read, and I'll definitely encourage anyone to read it!

This series just keeps getting better!!! Love Jaxsen and his dirty mouth. Jaxsen and Emmy are the best couple, and their chemistry is awesome. I received this book as an ARC and read it in a couple of hours. If you want a heartfelt romance and a guy with a dirty mouth, then Reckless Rebound is the book to read.

Is it me or are the Miami Blaze men getting hotter Brooke!! I am addicted to these ball players they’re freaking 🥵and definitely COCKY.
Jaxsen and Emmy are very enticing/ sexy, touching and beautiful characters.
They’re story is truly engaging, consuming and heartwarming. I was hooked from the very first chapter and couldn’t put it down.

It was supposed to be one night of fun. Emmy thought they'd never cross paths again. She lives in Chicago; he lives in Miami. Both of them are trying to deal with the stress life throws at them. Getting to know each other better and giving each other a chance might be the right decision. Emmy can tame Jaxsen's temper and he makes her happy.
It’s a contemporary romance with sports elements. When the bad-boy basketball player falls for someone who doesn’t recognize him. A girl with big dreams she was busy chasing. A romance that starts with one night of fun and ends with a happily ever after.
I loved how cute and romantic this book was. The way they met was cliche, but it’s still a cute way to meet. It was funny, romantic, and a little dramatic. Their story is one you could sit down and read in one setting.
There was this one thing where the chapter would end, and it’d feel like there should’ve been more to it. But the next chapter would already jump to another place in their story without giving more insight into what had happened before.
This book is perfect for a quick, romantic, sporty read. It ends with a HEA and it’s cute. Contemporary romance lovers should read it.

Jaxsen Wild is a professional basketball player with the Miami Blaze (about which Emmy is clueless). Jax has recently gotten in trouble for losing his temper during a game; as a result, he is suspended for three games. He meets Emmy at the airport on the way home to Miami. The flight gets canceled because of bad weather, so the crew and passengers have to spend another night in town. Her initial encounters with Jaxsen aren’t very positive. He’s kind of rude and standoff-ish, while she is processing her breakup with her ex, who cheated on her and lied about it, and has a bit of an attitude as well. Nevertheless, they are intrigued with each other in a physical sense, but since Emmy is wary of all men currently, she plans to steer clear. When they end up at the same hotel after the flight is canceled, she decides to have a little fun with Jaxsen and they share one night together. She figures she will never see him again.
Things often work out differently than expected, and this is one of those times. They actually do see each other again, and end up getting to know each other over time. These two share strong chemistry, and it shows in the way the book is written. There are also a few little scenes that link this book to the CHC universe, which adds an additional fun dimension to the storytelling. The story flows nicely and there are a few challenges to navigate, but these two protagonists handle them as they occur. This is a feel-good story in the end, and the delightful ending will leave readers smiling.

I'm new to this author's books, but when I read the blurb for this book I knew that I had to read it.
Brooke O'Brien is the talented author that I'm talking about and let's just say that I want more books.

Oh my gosh, Reckless Rebound is definitely a five star read . And I have to say that Brooke O'Brien is solely responsible for a couple of my five star book boyfriends for the last couple of months . I didn't think that she can make them book boyfriends better but she outdid herself with this one . Jaxsen Wild , the basketball's bad boy is so swoon worthy . He's cocky , reckless and with a fast smart mouth that lands him in more trouble when it's mixed with his temper. And he meets his match in Emmy who is smart , strong and sassy . They bump into each other on a busy airport and that meeting changes everything for them . They start with a one night stand because neither of them is ready for anything serious. For Emmy it's a reckless thing to do, a rebound after her cheating ex , for Jaxsen is a shot at something good in a bad moment of his life . For two people burned by others before they are absolutely dedicated to their relationship - they make time for each other, they pursue their dreams and goals and have loyal friends on their side . I love how supporting and understanding are they both to each others needs and feelings . There's some drama , some rivalry and some dirty tricks thrown their way and the much deserved HEA . The bonus epilogue was like a cherry on top of that sweetness that is Reckless Rebound .

Loved this story! It was funny, sexy, and melted my heart! Jaxsen and Emmy were made for each other.

Jaxsen Wild is the bad boy of basketball, but his hothead ways has him close to throwing away everything he's worked so hard for. Emerson 'Emmy' Kincaid is striving towards her dream of being a fashion designer, whilst working as airline cabin crew. When they end up being grounded due to bad weather, they give in to the hot attraction between them. Jaxsen is wary of women getting close to him for his fame and money, and Emmy just got out of a relationship. However, there's no denying there's a very real connection between them. Six weeks after giving Jaxsen a dud telephone number, they bump into each other again in Miami, where he lives and where she's interning. This time, Jaxsen is determined not to lose her again.

This was an easy, thoroughly enjoyable read. It flowed really well and I loved the characters. Initially, Jaxsen came across as an arrogant jerk but, underneath it all, he was thoughtful, loyal and determined to be a better person for Emmy. Emmy was brilliant! I loved her gutsiness and the way she dealt with people who tried to bring her down. She knew her own worth and was not willing to put up with being treated poorly. She was genuine and never tried to be somebody she wasn't, and I loved her connection with Jaxsen. They were insanely hot together and I adored the trust that built between them. This was a fab read!

Jaxsen Wild is the bad boy of basketball, but his hothead ways has him close to throwing away everything he's worked so hard for. Emerson 'Emmy' Kincaid is striving towards her dream of being a fashion designer, whilst working as airline cabin crew. When they end up being grounded due to bad weather, they give in to the hot attraction between them. Jaxsen is wary of women getting close to him for his fame and money, and Emmy just got out of a relationship. However, there's no denying there's a very real connection between them. Six weeks after giving Jaxsen a dud telephone number, they bump into each other again in Miami, where he lives and where she's interning. This time, Jaxsen is determined not to lose her again.

This was an easy, thoroughly enjoyable read. It flowed really well and I loved the characters. Initially, Jaxsen came across as an arrogant jerk but, underneath it all, he was thoughtful, loyal and determined to be a better person for Emmy. Emmy was brilliant! I loved her gutsiness and the way she dealt with people who tried to bring her down. She knew her own worth and was not willing to put up with being treated poorly. She was genuine and never tried to be somebody she wasn't, and I loved her connection with Jaxsen. They were insanely hot together and I adored the trust that built between them. This was a fab read!

Swoon over Jaxson
This story will knock you off your feet, because it is nothing like you expected. The way Jaxson and Emmy start is unconventional but it is exactly what makes it all work out so effective. We see the player Jaxson and have an opinion that gets on spot reserved. Freshly heartbroken Emmy doesn't trust any man and basketball starplayer Jaxson is used to getting what he wants. But at their first encounters he will be surprised. But by coincidence they meet again. This time Jaxson wants to show Emmy the real him. But nothing is as easy as it could be. Him the player the press chases and Emmy a girl who isn’t used to this world. But we learn that both are good for each other. Emmy calms Jaxsons storm and Jaxson treats Emmy like she deserves. Not everyone is a fan of their beginning relationship and so it comes that a few news should seal the deal, that is, them to break up. And when a surprising news comes to the mix, Jaxson has to play the game of his life. And that in more than one way. Can everything work out before it is game over?

Can I get myself a Jaxsen Wild please?
This is the perfect book for a quick romance read. It’s a multi POV between Emmy (Emerson) and Jaxsen.
Emmy is a flight attendant and trying to start her career as a fashion designer. After breaking up with her boyfriend after he cheated a relationship is the last thing on her mind. After a pep talk from her best friend Cody, she needs to live a little.
Mr Dreamy, tall, handsome, looks good in a suit and sweatpants and a basketball player. Mr Jaxsen Wild.
“Doesn’t he have any idea how dangerous sweatpants are to women?”
Since Jaxsen basketball career he’s been portrayed as the bad boy with a temper on the court and a list of revolving women but would you believe everything you read in the Hollywood tea?
This is my first sports romance book and I couldn’t put it down, Reckless Rebound is part of the Cocky Hero Club but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. It’s quick paced, with loveable characters, sexual tension, PDA, flirting, emotional, steamy and has you wanting more.
The only thing I would of liked a bit more of is more insight Jaxsen and Kelly. But this is a book and author I would recommend checking out.
