Heart rate sensor froze on 2nd day of use. Watch only syncs with smart phones - not computers, not my Kindle Fire
The heart rate tracker froze on the 2nd day during my cycling session. The BPM just froze at 141 and stayed that way for the remainder of the ride. After the ride, the BPM did drop to 139 but my actual heart rate was way below that. I put the watch on the charging cradle and a day later it is still frozen at 139. During my ride and after, I tried wiping off the sensor, wiping off my wrist. Still no change. This one is going back. Some other things that I learned after I bought this watch... and I didn't want a replacement.1) The apps, music and fitness tracking records only function if you have the watch synced to a smartphone. There is no way view tracking stats on my laptop. There is no way to load music from my laptop. I cannot access the Under Armour apps and see my fitness history from my laptop. Personally, I want to be able to use my computer access fitness records and music... but I can't. I am forced to use the music on my phone and send that to my watch. I am forced to use the tiny smartphone screen to view my health stats. This is a definite deal breaker for me.2) The apps that come pre-installed on this watch are very limited. The music player, the UA apps, and the GPS maps are not pre-installed. I only have a limited number of workout types pre-installed (no gym workouts). All of these features work independent of a phone, so why do I need to first sync to my phone to install them? I originally bought this fitness tracker because it performed so many functions independent of a smartphone. Maps GPS, music and tracking.... all without needing to have your phone in your pocket. That's great, but I still need to sync this watch with my phone to install these apps.Final thoughts.... This would have been the perfect fitness tracker for me if it didn't have these limitations. I sought out a watch that would work independent of my phone. I travel a lot, including over seas where US phones don't work. I spend time using my laptop much more than my phone. I prefer the faster processing, actual keyboard and larger screen. I prefer to not have my phone always in my pocket. I use a portable HD Audio music player (Sony Walkman HiFi) and wired audiophile headphones to listen to my music because I want the best quality listening experience. My phone is for phone calls - not for every part of my technological life. Some people do everything with their phones, but that's not me. I wanted a watch for my exercising so that I could leave my phone at home when I cycle and when at the gym. I wanted to have only 1 device with me at the gym for fitness tracking and music. I thought I found the perfect device, but unfortunately this watch feel short I guess I'll have to keep waiting....
